Jillian Jefferys – Lebanon Valley College (Volleyball)

Major: Psychology

Final list of colleges: Lebanon Valley, Charleston, James Madison, West Chester

Reasons for choosing Lebanon Valley: “Some of the schools I was considering were some of the bigger schools, not necessarily for volleyball. With Lebanon Valley, I visited there the first time, and it’s a beautiful campus. Everything is very new. When I did my overnight stay, the girls were amazing. They were all very welcoming, and I got to explore the dorms and understand what the day-to-day activities are. Everything just ended up falling into place. It worked out perfectly with everything that I wanted, and their volleyball program is very good.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in volleyball at the collegiate level? “After my club season last year, I had a college coach as my coach, and he really pushed me to want to play in college. Also, I just love the sport. I have always loved playing volleyball, and I just knew there was no way I’d go to college and not play. It was either – I’m making a team or I’m playing for their club team.”

Coach Kurt Godfrey says: “Jill has been just an absolute force for us over the last couple of years. She’s been one of our leaders on and off the court for as long as she has been part of our program. She’s a three-year varsity starter for us. She was a swing player as a freshman, and it’s going to be really hard to replace her next season. She’s been a joy to coach. She’s one of the hardest workers we have – never complains. She’s always ready to do whatever we ask of her.
“This year, Jill played middle, she played outside, she played a little bit of opposite for us, and she was hurt the majority of the season. As much as that’s a blow to our season and it certainly would have been a lot better season had she been in, she was willing to do whatever needed to be done when she came back and was ready to go. I have enjoyed my time coaching her. I hope she has enjoyed her time with our program. She will definitely be missed. We’re certainly really excited for her and cannot wait to watch her continue her volleyball career and really do great things at Lebanon Valley. I can’t wait for her to come back and visit and tell me all the stories about her playing in college. I’m so excited for her and wish her nothing but unbridled success.”
