Pennridge's Horensky & Capo to Compete in Collegiate Field Hockey

On Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, Pennridge seniors Keira Horensky & Hannah Capo were recognized for committing to play field hockey at the collegiate level.

Hannah Capo – Saint Francis University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Biology
Final list of colleges:  Saint Francis, Central Michigan, Ursinus, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing Saint Francis: ‘I love the campus and coaches at SFU. They have every academic opportunity I could want. I knew this was home the second I stepped onto the campus.”
Coach Becky Spahr says:  “I love Hannah’s game. She is a strong offensive presence with the ability to eliminate defenders and score from all over the circle - tipping, shots from the top, rebounds.  Hannah is committed to improvement and has used her time in high school to develop her game both in and out of season.  Hannah is a loyal teammate that holds her team to a high standard.  Hannah wears her heart on her sleeve and her love for field hockey and our team is obvious when you watch her play.  SFU is a a great fit for Hannah both athletically and academically, and I look forward to seeing her continue to grow throughout her college career.”

Keira Horensky – Lock Haven University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Mathematics
Final list of colleges: Lock Haven, Virginia Commonwealth
Reasons for choosing Lock Haven: “I loved the coaches, players, organization and academics that Lock Haven offered, and I wanted to play in a competitive conference at the Division 1 level.”
Coach Becky Spahr says: Keira is an incredibly skilled and fit player with a strong passing game and the ability to impact the play all over the field.   Keira is the toughest player I have coached. She is never content.   She demands the most from her teammates and herself.  She has earned her grittiness as she has recovered and is recovering from major injuries. That toughness and resiliency will serve her well as she adjusts to the college game.
I will miss Keira’s competitiveness and effort but know that she is ready for the next level, and I can’t wait to cheer her on.”
