BASEBALL
Kutztown sophomore outfielder Brandon Martinez (North Penn) has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Atlantic Region Honorable Mention Team. Martinez flourished as the leadoff hitter in his first year as a fulltime starter. He led the team and was eighth in the PSAC with a .363 batting average. The sophomore had a team-leading 17 multi-hit games and held a team-best 12-game hitting streak. He stole 18 bases in 2013, tied for sixth for a single-season in Kutztown history. Eleven of his 58 hits went for extra bases including a team-high nine doubles. Martinez was also nearly flawless in the field for the Golden Bears. Through 47 games, he committed one error for a fielding percentage of .989. He also drew a team-high 17 walks for an on-base percentage of .425. He held a team-high streak of reaching base in 19 consecutive games.

 

IUP sophomore Dylan Tice (Pennridge) was selected to the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Atlantic Region team, earning second team honors after leading IUP with 67 hits, five home runs and 42 RBIs. He also was second on the team with a .362 batting average and 13 doubles. He started all 50 contests after becoming IUP's starting shortstop as a sophomore this year. Tice had 20 multi-hit games, 13 multi-RBI games with a .535 slugging percentage. He drew 19 walks during the year and had a .427 on-base percentage with 13 stolen bases in 17 chances. He excelled in his first season at short, making just eight errors in 220 chances for a .964 fielding percentage. Tice was also a first team All-PSAC West selection.

 

Chestnut Hill junior leftfielder Joseph Mullin (Central Bucks South) hit .370 (10-for-27) and had six RBIs. Junior third baseman Ray Puskar (Pennridge) hit .333 (10-for-30) and had nine RBIs. Senior shortstop Joseph Crane (Council Rock South) hit .323 (10-for-3) with seven RBIs, five stolen bases (5-of-8, 62.5 percent).

St. Peter's James Smith (North Penn) was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Conference (MAAC) second team. Smith, a junior catcher, was second on the team with a .285 batting average, 37 hits, 21 runs scored, 10 doubles, a home run and 25 RBIs on the year. Smith was the team's top hitter in league play, boasting a .318 batting average with 21 hits, 12 runs scored, three doubles, a home run and 13 RBIs. Behind the plate, the junior threw out 33 of the 49 runners attempting to steal to boast a 40.2 percentage.

Billy Fleming (Council Rock South) had a sacrifice bunt that set the stage for a walk-off single to keep West Virginia's Big 12 title hopes alive with a 6-5 win over Oklahoma State at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. In West Virginia's 10-3 win over TCU on Friday, Fleming had two hits.

 

Rhode Island senior Mike Bradstreet (North Penn) was named to the 2013 Atlantic Baseball All-Championship Team. In his final outing as a Ram, Bradstreet led URI to an opening round 5-2 victory over La Salle on Wednesday. He struck out six, did not issue a walk and allowed zero earned runs over nine complete innings en route to his team-leading eighth win.

 

Moravian sophomore outfielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) was named to the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team. He helped lead Moravian to the program's second Landmark Conference title in the last four seasons and a berth in the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. He was named to the Landmark All-Conference First team this spring and had a team high .377 average with 52 hits, 13 doubles, five triples, 33 runs, 15 stolen bases, 15 walks, nine hit by pitch, four sacrifice hits and 20 RBIs this season. He led the Greyhounds in slugging percentage at .543, on-base percentage at .466, runs scored, doubles, triples, hit by pitch and stolen bases. From his right field position, Hanson had 78 putouts and two assists in 81 chances.

 

FIELD HOCKEY
La Salle senior Rebecca Chylack (Souderton) was named to the Academic All-Atlantic 10 team.

 

WOMEN'S GOLF
Middlebury College sophomore Jordan Glatt (Central Bucks East) participated in the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship from May 14-17. The four-day tournament took place at the Baytowne Golf Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida, The Middlebury team finished 14th out of 21 teams from all over the country, and Glatt carded the lowest total score to lead her team.

 

MEN'S LACROSSE

Widener senior attacker Johnny Casey (Abington) was chosen to compete for the South Team in the USILA Division III Men's Lacrosse North-South Game. The contest took place on Friday on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor. It was held in conjunction with all three divisions playing their championship weekend at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Casey was named to the second team All-Commonwealth Conference after being tabbed first team all-league in 2012, first team All-Middle Atlantic Conference in 2011 and the 2009 MAC Rookie of the Year. He was sixth in the league this year with 38 goals, seventh with 18 assists, tied for fifth with 56 points and first on the team with nine man-up goals. Casey had several big contests this season, getting six goals and three assists at Immaculata to go with six goals and two assists April 6 at Elizabethtown. He also scored four goals March 2 at Swarthmore and April 20 vs. NCAA finalist Stevenson.

 

Cabrini senior Joe Hughes (Plymouth Whitemarsh) played in the 2013 USILA/Lax World North South Senior All-Star game on Friday on Cabrini's home field. Hughes played defense and tallied a first half assist. Hughes was part of a senior class that was one of the most successful in program history. The group amassed a record of 60-17 overall during their careers, including 25-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 5-4 in the NCAA Tournament. The seniors also raised four CSAC championship trophies by a combined score of 66-15.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Bloomsburg junior defenseman Aubrey Bossert (Wissahickon) was named to the first team 2013 All-PSAC team. Bossert finished the year with 18 caused turnovers, including four against Dowling. She also had 46 draw controls putting her second on the team with a season-best performance against Limestone College where she had a season-high six draw controls. Bossert also had 35 ground balls for Bloomsburg. At the PSAC championship, she was named the scholar-athlete of the tournament for the second year in a row with a GPA of 3.95.

 

Haverford College's Grace Stockbower (Upper Dublin) was honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association with selection to the 2013 IWLCA/DeBeer North-South Division III Senior All-Star Game as announced by the organization on Tuesday. The D-III all-star game showcasing the nation's top seniors was held at Cabrini College on May 26. Stockbower, a member of the North roster, was one of 42 players chosen to participate. Stockbower topped the Fords in caused turnovers for the second straight season. Earning second team all-conference honors in 2013, the defender reached double figures in goals (10) for the first time in her career and tallied her first game-winning goal against McDaniel College on March 30. Stockbower's 34 caused turnovers on the year ranked second in the Centennial. Named to the IWLCA 2013 All-Metro Region Second Team, Stockbower was a mainstay on defense for Haverford throughout her career as she started 68 of a possible 69 contests. She ranks third in program history in caused turnovers (102) and fourth in caused turnovers per game (1.50). Stockbower's leadership during her senior campaign proved immeasurable as the Fords set a new program mark with seven Centennial wins on the season and tied the program record for overall wins (13) on their way to qualifying for the Centennial semifinals.

 

Junior Amy Cross (Upper Dublin) and freshman Kelly Cross (Upper Dublin) each scored a goal in No. 5 Syracuse's 11-10 loss to No. 1 Maryland in the NCAA Tournament semifinals at Villanova Stadium on Friday night. The Orange rallied from a three-goal halftime deficit to take the lead, but the Terrapins rallied for the win. The Orange ends the season with an 18-4 record.

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER
La Salle redshirt junior Gabrielle Pakhtigian (North Penn) was named to the 2012-13 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District and All-America squad. She also earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors.

 

MEN'S SWIMMING
La Salle senior Dan Fitzgerald (Upper Dublin) has earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors.

 

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Shippensburg senior Caitlin Stuetz (Cheltenham) earned the first All-America finish of her career Saturday with an eighth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Colorada State University at Pueblo inside the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl. Stuetz ran the exact same time she did in the preliminaries – 1:00.86 – to become just the second All-American 400-meter hurdler in Shippensburg history. She is one of the most decorated hurdlers in school history. She closed her Raider career with two NCAA outdoor appearances and five PSAC outdoor hurdles championships (including two in the 400). She also finishes up as Shippensburg's school record holder in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. Overall, Shippensburg finished in 42nd place with five points.


Gettysburg senior Christine Esposito (Neshaminy) was given the Clair B., Mary E., and Constance (Noerr) Baker Memorial Award which is awarded to a female senior on the basis of proficiency in athletics, scholarship and character. The Noerr Award was established by Constance (Noerr) Baker '58 in memory of her mother and father. Esposito was an all-conference and all-region performer in cross country while also earning all-conference accolades in track. The health sciences major saved her best race for last, breaking the school record in the 5,000-meter race in her final collegiate event.
