MEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior Robby Pines (Souderton) had 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists in East Stroudsburg’s 75-54 win over Gannon on Sunday. Pines scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half and went 8-for-8 from the foul line for the second straight game while adding three steals to his line.  The Warriors, who improved to 11-0, are off to their best start in men’s basketball in 67 years. It is ESU’s longest unbeaten start since going 12-0 in the 1941-42 and 1942-43 seasons. On Saturday, Pines was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line, contributing eight points, five assists and three steals in ESU’s 75-65 win over Clarion. The senior guard scored all of his points in the final 8:27 of the contest.
Chris Pender (Cheltenham) had 16 points – which included four three-pointers - in Mansfield’s 77-66 win over Lock Haven on Sunday.
Senior forward Brian Oleksiak (Abington) had seven points, seven rebounds and four assists in Shippensburg’s 76-64 loss to Mercyhurst on Sunday.
Junior Lavoy Allen (Pennsbury) had 10 points and five rebounds in Temple’s 84-52 loss to top-ranked Kansas on Saturday. In Temple’s 63-39 win over Bowling Green last Monday, Allen had five points and 13 rebounds. The Owls – ranked 18th by the Associated Press and 19th by ESPN/USA Today - are 11-3 on the season.
Freshman Dalton Pepper (Pennsbury) scored five points in 15 minutes of action off the bench in West Virginia’s 77-62 loss to fourth ranked Purdue. It was the first loss of the season for the sixth ranked Mountaineers (11-1).
Freshman Jim Connolly (Souderton) had five points in Philadelphia University’s 74-68 loss to Assumption on Monday in the opening round of the Holy Family Holiday Tournament.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Junior Addie Micir (Council Rock North) tied her personal mark of six three-point baskets in a game in Princeton’s 75-61 win over Fordham on Saturday. Micir, who connected on six-of-nine from beyond the arc, finished with a team-high 20 points. She also had seven rebounds.
Jaime Donovan (Central Bucks East) was two-for-four from three-point range and contributed eight points in Lock Haven’s 55-43 loss to Mansfield on Sunday. Teammate Heather McHugh (Norristown) had five points. In Saturday’s 64-58 loss to Bloomsburg, McHugh had five points and Donovan had three points.
Ashley Gale (Cheltenham) scored eight points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds in LaSalle’s 67-51 win over Penn on Sunday. She also had four assists.
Sophomore Casey Pritz (Abington) had nine points and nine rebounds in Widener’s 68-59 loss to Kean last Monday.
Freshman Jenna Peoples (Cheltenham) had eight points in Delaware Valley’s 59-47 win over Wesley College in the opening round of Wesley’s Holiday Tournament on Monday.
Junior Misha Horsey (Cheltenham) contributed 10 points and four assists in Stony Brook’s 65-38 loss to Hartford in the America East opener for both teams on Saturday.
Freshman Calla Miller (Central Bucks South) is averaging eight points a game for Haverford College.
FOOTBALL
Temple came up short in its first bowl game since 1979, falling to UCLA 30-21 in the EagleBank Bowl on Tuesday. The Owls, who saw a 21-7 lead slip away, finished the season with a 9-4 record and a co-regular season Mid-American Conference East Division championship. Freshman Brandon McManus (North Penn) was perfect on three extra-point attempts in Temple’s season finale.
