MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Penn State Abington sophomore Alex Kane (Central Bucks East) was named the Co-NEAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20. Kane won his third straight event after taking first place at the Albright College Invitational. He finished the 5.5-mile course in 30:29, shattering the course record, to best the rest of the field by at least 20 seconds and captured his fifth first place finish of the season. The performance helped the Nittany Lions finish in first place out of the four-team field. This is the third week in a row that Kane has garnered this honor.

Gwynedd Mercy freshman Matt French (Bensalem) finished 45th overall with a time of 22:25 at the Haverford Invitational on Friday. The time was 27 seconds faster than French posted on Sept. 26 on the same course.

Bloomsburg’s James Wilson (Central Bucks South) posted a time of 31:51 at the 2013 PSAC Championships on Saturday. As a team, the Huskies finished 12th of 14 teams.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Kutztown’s Carolyn Fergus (North Penn) finished 54th with a time of 24:17.9 at the PSAC Championships on Saturday morning. Kutztown was ninth as a team.

West Chester’s Mara Kelly (Springfield) was 87th with a time of 25:15.9 at the 2013 PSAC Championships on Saturday. West Chester finished 10th as a team.

Millersville’s Megan Meyer (Central Bucks South) came in third for the Marauders in 77th place with a time of 24:47.4 at the PSAC Championships on Saturday. Millersville finished 12th out of 17 teams.

Bloomsburg’s Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) posted a time of 24:57 for 86th overall at the 2013 PSAC Championships on Saturday. Teammate Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) finished with a time of 27:15. Bloomsburg finished seventh overall.

FIELD HOCKEY
Freshman Marissa Glatt (Central Bucks East) scored her Patriot League leading 12th goal of the season in Lehigh’s 4-1 loss to Holy Cross on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Taylor Prichett (William Tennent) scored three goals and contributed an assist in Delaware Valley’s 6-2 win over King’s College on Saturday. Prichett was ranked 18th nationally in goals per game in last week’s NCAA Division III rankings.  In Wednesday’s 2-1 win over FDU-Florham, Prichett scored both of her team’s goals.

Alayna Brown (Souderton) scored her sixth goal of the year in No. 5 West Chester’s 5-0 win at Mansfield on Saturday.

Senior Samantha Facciolla (Council Rock South) has started all 16 games this season for a Bloomsburg squad that is ranked No. 6 nationally and boasts a 10-6 record. The Huskies defeated No. 7 Limestone 3-1 on Sunday.

Senior Olivia Shoemaker (Souderton) recorded a hat trick in La Salle’s 7-2 rout of Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon on Senior Day. With her six points on the day, Shoemaker moved up into a seventh place tie on La Salle’s all-time career points list. She now has 65 points, tied with former Explorer and former high school teammate Becca Chylack (Souderton). She also moved up to seventh place on the all-time goals list, having scored 29 in her career. In Friday’s 4-2 loss to Saint Francis, Shoemaker scored her 10th goal of the season as time expired on a penalty corner.

Alyssa Tourdot (Wissahickon) scored on a corner in Albright’s 5-2 loss to Alvernia on Wednesday.

Kelsy Grant (Council Rock South) contributed an assist in Elizabethtown’s 8-0 win at Hood.

Kierstan Ryan (Harry S Truman) contributed an assist on the game’s only goal in Rensselaer’s 1-0 win over Vassar on Wednesday.

Becky Ely (Council Rock North) contributed an assist in Messiah’s 2-0 win over Stevenson on Wednesday.

Casey McGowan (Central Bucks South) converted a penalty stroke in IUP’s 4-3 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday. It was her fourth penalty stroke goal of the season.

Senior Jennalise Taylor (Pennsbury) scored twice in Quinnipiac’s 4-2 win over Monmouth on Sunday. With the win, the Bobcats clinched a berth in the upcoming MAAC Field Hockey Championship.

Freshman Kelly Schlupp (Council Rock South) had seven saves in her first collegiate start in The College of New Jersey’s 4-3 loss to Ursinus on Thursday. In Tuesday’s 7-0 win over Ramapo, Schlupp made four saves in the second half.

Sophomore Sarah Yerk (Pennridge) notched the first multi-goal game of her career in Saint Joseph’s 3-1 win over Saint Louis on Friday, scoring a pair of goals.

Maria Karidas (Council Rock South) connected for the hat trick in Gwynedd Mercy’s 4-3 win in overtime over Neumann on Tuesday.

Casey Haegele (Central Bucks South) scored a goal in Penn State’s 5-0 shutout win over UC Davis on Saturday. Penn State, which clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title on Friday, is 13-3 on the season.

Colleen McCabe (William Tennent) scored a goal in Lock Haven’s 3-0 win over VCU on Friday. The win – the team’s third straight shutout - moved the Eagles one step closer to an A-10 place.

FOOTBALL
Shawn Leo (Souderton)
connected on a 26-yard field goal with 1.1 seconds remaining to lift No. 13/18 West Chester to a 32-29 win over Shippensburg in a pivotal PSAC East football game on Saturday. Third-string quarterback Andrew Derr (Upper Dublin) took West Chester on a seven-play drive that covered 52 yards over 2:26 that culminated with Leo’s game-winning kick. On third-and-six from the Raiders’ 43-yard line, Derr completed a 25-yard pass over the middle to keep the winning drive alive. Shannon Mayer (Norristown) completed a pass for a two-point conversion to knot the score 29-29 with 7:08 to play. Sophomore free safety Brandon Pepper (Pennsbury) then intercepted a pass from Shippensburg’s Sheldon Mayer, older brother of West Chester wideout Shannon Mayer, on the Raiders’ first play of the next drive to put the Rams back in business at Shippensburg’s 35-yard line following Pepper’s 34-yard return.

Junior Craig Needhammer (North Penn) had 27 carries for 109 yards and added three catches for 35 yards and a touchdown in Lycoming’s 20-17 win over Albright on Saturday. Junior John Sibel (Pennsbury) caught three passes for 60 yards. Sophomore Josh Cook (North Penn) posted a sack.

Reggie Slaton (Bensalem) had 11 tackles in Millersville’s 26-14 loss to Lock Haven on Saturday.

Freshman running back Corey Kelly (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a 38-yard touchdown reception in Ursinus College’s 30-10 win over Susquehanna on Saturday. He also rushed for 142 yards on 33 carries in the win. Sophomore kicker Eric Boyer (Upper Dublin) was three-for-three on field goals, connecting on field goals of 33, 28 and 22.

Sophomore wide receiver Gerard Wendowski (North Penn) caught two passes for 24 yards in East Stroudsburg’s 43-26 win over Kutztown on Saturday, including a nine-yard pass on third-and-one on a touchdown drive. Teammate Brandon Gattelli (Bensalem) recorded a sack.

Redshirt senior Alex DiNolfi (Norristown) registered a team-high 12 tackles, nine of which were solo tackles from his safety position, in Kutztown’s 43-26 loss to East Stroudsburg.

Junior Sheldon Mayer (Norristown) had five receptions for 91 yards and also completed a 24-yard pass in Shippensburg’s 32-29 loss to No. 13 West Chester on Saturday.

MEN’S GOLF
Temple senior Matt Crescenzo (Cheltenham) carded a three-under 69 to tie for the lead after the first round of play at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate last Sunday. Junior Matt Teesdale (Hatboro-Horsham) also was under par for the day with a 71 while senior Russell Hartung (Central Bucks East) placed fourth for Temple and tied for 31st overall with a five-over 77. Crescenzo placed fifth overall with an even-par 144. Teesdale was third for the Owls and tied for 11th overall (71-76, 147) while Hartung ended tied for 62nd (77-85, 162). Temple finished second as a team.

La Salle senior Mike Johnson (Hatboro-Horsham) and junior Greg Goodreds (Hatboro-Horsham) both tied for eighth place with two-over 146s at the Barnabas Health Seton Hall Intercollegiate on Monday. Goodreds shot the team’s best score on Monday with an even-par 72 for his collegiate best finish. “I can’t say enough about Greg and how much he’s improved – more than four shots per round better than last year,” head coach Brad Kane said. Johnson carded a 76 on Monday to follow up his 70.  The Explorers finished fifth out of 15 teams. In Sunday’s opening round, Johnson carded five birdies on his way to a two-under 70 and stood in third place after one round. Goodreds shot a two-over 74 and made four birdies. Like Johnson, he was three-under on the par fives. He was tied for 13th.

MEN’S SOCCER
Drexel freshman Tyler Afflerbach (Souderton) was named the Philadelphia Soccer Six Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20. The Souderton grad posted his fifth shutout when the Dragons blanked UNCW 2-0. Afflerbach was called upon to make a career-high eight saves in the win. He also added four saves, allowing just one goal, in Drexel’s win at Delaware. That win was the first home loss for the Blue Hens this season.
Afflerbach had two saves in Drexel’s 1-0 loss to No. 12 Maryland on Tuesday. For the game, Drexel was outshot 16-3.

Freshman Victor Molina (Bensalem) scored a goal in Penn State Abington’s 2-2 tie against Keuka College last Sunday.

Sophomore defender Chris Kulcyztzky (Council Rock North) scored in the 90th minute in Philadelphia University’s 3-2 loss to West Chester on Tuesday. It was his first goal of the year.

Jon Nazon (North Penn) scored a goal in Eastern's 3-2 win over Delaware Valley on Tuesday.

Freshman forward Ryan Molyneaux (Souderton) contributed an assist in Ursinus College’s 2-1 loss to Haverford on Wednesday.

Junior Ryan Roedel (Neshaminy) netted a pair of goals in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-2 loss to Rosemont on Tuesday.

Junior Troy Czapor (Council Rock South) was part of Widener’s defense that played 79 minutes of scoreless soccer in the Pride’s 3-0 loss to No. 3 Messiah on Saturday.

Mike Robinson (North Penn) is part of a Penn State defense that has allowed just six goals in 961 minutes at Jeffrey Field. The Nittany Lions, who defeated Northwestern 2-1 on Sunday, are 8-1-1 in their past nine matches, which includes a tie with No. 5 California and wins over No. 14 Michigan State and No. 19 Northwestern. Penn State is ranked No. 13 in the latest poll.

Alex Badulak (Hatboro-Horsham) scored a goal in West Chester’s 3-2 win over Philadelphia University on Tuesday.

Miguel Diaz (Central Bucks East) contributed an assist in Bloomsburg’s 1-0 win over Lock Haven on Saturday.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
West Chester junior forward Carly Yost (North Penn) was named the ECAC Division II Offensive player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20. Yost scored three goals in two PSAC victories during the week. She scored twice in West Chester’s 5-0 win at Pitt-Johnstown and scored the game winner in a 3-1 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday. She has moved up to eighth in the league in goals with six this season. She leads the Golden Rams in both goals scored (six) and points (16).
Freshman Grace Miorelli (Souderton) scored a goal on a 25-yard strike in Cedarville’s 3-2 loss to Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday.

Junior Kimber Kisselback initiated a play that set up a goal in Holy Family’s 5-2 win over Chestnut Hill on Wednesday.

Jamie Vaniver (Council Rock South) contributed an assist in Bloomsburg’s 4-2 Senior Night win over Lock Haven on Saturday.

Molly Wyman (Abington), Mallory Mugnier (Abington), Jacqueline Alexander (Council Rock North) and Ashlee Kohn (Bensalem) each scored a goal in Penn State Abington’s 7-0 win over Cabrini College. For Mugnier, it was her 15th goal of the season. Courtney Leventhal (Bensalem) contributed an assist. In Wednesday’s 1-1 tie with Cabrini, Mugnier scored a goal.  In last Sunday’s 3-1 win over Wells, Mugnier, Kohn and Cindy Wade (Abington) each scored a goal.

Kaceyanne Cerankowski (Neshaminy) contributed an assist in Elizabethtown’s 2-1 overtime win over Lebanon Valley on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Stevenson, Cerankowski contributed a goal.

Alexis Haug (Central Bucks West) scored a pair of goals in Ursinus College’s 3-0 loss to Muhlenberg on Saturday. Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) added a single goal.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
Senior Katie Kennedy (Wissahickon) was part of Cabrini’s first doubles team that won its 12th match of the season in number one doubles (8-3) in Cabrini’s 9-0 win over Baptist Bible College on Saturday. In singles, Kennedy won her 45th career match with a 6-0, 6-1 in the number one slot.

Gwynedd Mercy sophomore Jenna Caffarello (North Penn) was named the CSAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20. Her 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles clinched a 5-4 win over CSAC rival Cabrini to help put the Griffins in the playoffs. She also teamed with partner Kellie Booth earlier in the day to pick up an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. This season, Caffarello is 13-2 in singles play, including a 7-1 mark against conference foes. She and Booth are also 7-1 in third doubles in CSAC matches.

Rachel Fein (Wissahickon) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles in Gwynedd Mercy’s 8-1 win over Rosemont on Friday. She also was part of the first doubles team that earned an 8-0 win. Kristen Kriebel (Pennridge) notched a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win at third singles and was part of the second doubles team with Corina Davis (North Penn) that earned an 8-2 win. David notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Caffarello was part of the third doubles team that earned an 8-2 win. With the win, Gwynedd secured the top seed in the CSAC Team Tournament for the sixth year in a row.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Freshman libero Casey Griffith (Upper Merion) added 23 digs in UMBC’s 3-2 loss to Stony Brook on Friday.

Julie Harvey (Hatboro-Horsham) led the offense with seven kills in Franklin & Marshall’s 3-0 sweep of Dickinson on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Gettysburg, Harvey had three blocks.

Junior Devyn Ingram (Upper Merion) had 13 digs in Holy Family’s 3-0 win over Dominican College on Saturday, sharing the match high in digs. In Holy Family’s 3-0 win over Georgian Court on Thursday, Ingram led the team with nine digs. Ingram had 10 digs in Holy Family’s 3-0 sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Cassidy Koenig (Upper Merion) had 35 assists in Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday. She had 28 assists in the Cavaliers’ 3-0 win over the University of Scranton. Cabrini is 23-4 on the season. In Thursday’s 3-0 win over Moravian, Koenig controlled the offense with 43 assists.

Freshman Sam Nelson (Central Bucks West) contributed 60 assists, three aces and 11 digs in Penn State Abington’s quad match with Susquehanna, Ursinus and Alvernia on Saturday. The Nittany Lions defeated Alvernia but fell to Ursinus and Susquehanna. In Thursday’s 3-0 loss to Bryn Athyn, Nelson was credited with 16 assists.

Senior Sarah Godfrey (William Tennent) contributed six kills in Lebanon Valley’s 3-0 win over Penn State Berks on Saturday.

Senior Mara Berzins (Pennridge) had eight kills and three blocks in Ursinus College’s 3-1 win over Alvernia on Saturday at the Penn State Abington quad match.  In the Bears 3-1 win over Penn State Abington, Berzins had nine blocks and seven kills. In the Bears’ 3-0 loss to Susquehanna, Berzins had six kills. In the Bears 3-1 loss to Muhlenberg on Wednesday, Berzins had seven kills.

Devon Maugle (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had six digs in UConn’s 3-0 loss to Louisville on Sunday. Maugle, who had been sidelined, returned to the lineup for Friday’s match against Cincinnati, and bolstered by the junior captain’s presence, the Huskies battled back from a two-set deficit for a 3-2 win.  Maugle contributed 11 digs and three assists.

Senior Michelle Carrierii (Central Bucks South) had a team high seven kills and three blocks (one solo) in Gwynedd Mercy’s 3-0 loss to Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday.

Senior middle blocker Brittany O’Hara (Pennridge) contributed four blocks and a pair of digs in Moravian’s 3-1 loss at Cabrini on Thursday.

Sophomore outside hitter Audrey Stringer (Pennsbury) led the attack with 16 kills and a .452 hitting percentage in Kutztown’s 3-2 loss to West Chester on Friday. It is the third straight match and fifth time in the last seven matches she has posted double-digit kills for the Golden Bears. Defensively, she also posted six blocks.
