West Virginia freshman shortstop Billy Fleming (Council Rock South) hit a two-run homer in the Gold Team’s 9-3 win over the Blue team in the first game of the 22nd annual Blue-Gold World Series at Hawley Field.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Shippensburg junior Brian Quintrell (North Penn) finished sixth with a season PR of 26:51 in Sunday’s Lock Haven University River Run 8K race. Freshman Matt Bee (Central Bucks West) finished 15th with a season and career PR of 27:49.30.
Gwynedd-Mercy’s James Rogers (Cheltenham) finished second with a time of 28:34 to help lead the Griffins to their fourth straight CSAC title.
Ursinus College junior Sam Stortz (Upper Dublin) was the top finisher for the Bears during Saturday’s Centennial Conference Championships at Dickinson College. Stortz finished 57th overall with a total time of 30:09.1. The Bears finished eighth overall.
Widener’s Ryan Gallagher (Neshaminy) earned second team All-MAC Conference recognition, finishing 16th with a time of 28:35.30 at the MAC Championships on Saturday. Widener finished fourth as a team.
La Salle senior Nick Crits (Wissahickon) earned all-conference honors as a result of his sixth place finish with a time of 24:38 at Saturday’s 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Explorers captured the team title.
Lock Haven’s Michael Doyle (Council Rock South) finished seventh in the Lock Haven River Run. The No. 21 Bald Eagles finished second.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Ashley Underkoffler (Central Bucks South) earned All-MAC Second Team honors as Elizabethtown captured its fifth straight MAC title on Saturday. Underkoffler finished 19th with a time of 26:06.30. Teammate Abby Mitchell (Council Rock North) finished 34th with a time of 27:02.60.
Lock Haven’s Nicole Wasniewski (Souderton) finished 12th in Saturday’s Lock Haven River Run. The #22 Lady Eagles finished second.
Taylor Goldworthy (Central Bucks South) was one of four Temple runners to finish Saturday’s Atlantic 10 Championship race inside the 19-minute mark. Teammates Karrie Finn (Council Rock North) finished with a time of 20:46 while sophomore Kelly Broadbent (Upper Dublin) finished with a time of 21:19.
FIELD HOCKEY
La Salle freshman Colleen Kempf (Central Bucks South) has been named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24. Kempf scored the first two goals of her collegiate career in a 2-1 win over Saint Joseph’s. She broke a scoreless tie with her goal in the 50th minute and added an insurance goal five minutes later.
Lindsay Staufenberg (Norristown) turned away four shots in Lock Haven’s 2-1 win over Temple on Sunday. She was one of four seniors honored at Sunday’s game. On Friday, Staufenberg was credited with three saves in Lock Haven’s 2-1 win over St. Joseph’s University in double overtime.
Sophomore Kierstan Ryan (Harry S. Truman) scored the game’s first goal in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s 5-3 win over Morrisville State College on Saturday.
Sophomore Olivia Shoemaker (Souderton) scored a pair of goals as La Salle earned its fourth shutout of the season in the Explorers’ 3-0 win over Saint Louis. With the win, La Salle clinched a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The win was the fifth in the past seven games for the Explorers, who advance to Friday’s A-10 Semifinal hosted by Saint Joseph’s. Becca Chylack (Souderton) contributed an assist.
Freshman Amanda Krause (Council Rock North) combined with teammate Shannon Syciarz on the team’s 11th shutout of the season in #4 TCNJ’s 5-0 win over Cortland on Sunday.
Christina Maida (Central Bucks East) recorded one save in goal in Princeton’s 6-1 win over Cornell on Sunday.
Brittany Varacallo (Central Bucks South) turned away a shot in IUP’s 2-0 win over third-seeded Slippery Rock in a PSAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday. On Friday, Varacallo allowed just one goal in 35 minutes of action in IUP’s 6-0 loss to No. 1 Bloomsburg in the PSAC semifinals. Entering the PSAC Tournament, Varacallo was 6-2 on the season, playing over 632 minutes with 50 saves.
Senior Jill Lukens (Central Bucks East) recorded six saves – five in the final 35 minutes – in Ursinus College’s 2-1 win over Muhlenberg on Friday night. On Tuesday, Lukens had five saves in the 11th-ranked Bears’ 8-1 non-conference win over Eastern Mennonite.
Freshman Maddy Harding (Central Bucks South) scored a goal that turned out to be the game winner in Villanova’s 2-0 win over Columbia in the Wildcats’ regular season finale on Friday. It was her second goal of the season. Senior Megan Goelz (Pennsbury) stopped all three shots she faced to record her eighth career shutout. On Friday, Harding contributed an assist in Villanova’s 3-2 loss to No. 6 Syracuse.
Freshman Alex Atiyeh (Souderton) contributed an assist in Drexel’s 6-2 loss to No. 3 Maryland on Wednesday.
Junior Michelle Pieczynski (Central Bucks West) scored a pair of goals in Monmouth’s 3-0 win over Saint Francis University last Sunday. As a result, she moved into first all-time in Monmouth history with 94 career points (41 goals, 12 assists).
Junior Erin Gorenflo (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored her fourth goal of the year in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 4-2 win over Immaculata on Friday. Sophomore Maria Karidas (Council Rock South) also scored a goal. On Tuesday, senior Casey Dellostretto (Upper Moreland) contributed an assist in Gwynedd’s 2-1 loss to Susquehanna.
Junior Marlaine Schneider (Neshaminy) recorded two goals and two assists in Rider’s 7-1 win over the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. The win was the 12th straight for the Broncs.
FOOTBALL
Senior linebacker Mike Bergey (Souderton) had a team-high nine tackles in East Stroudsburg’s 10-6 win over Cheyney on Saturday. Sophomore safety Derek Brown (Souderton), a converted linebacker, had six tackles. Redshirt freshman defensive end Brandon Gattelli (Bensalem) had a sack.
Freshman Craig Needhammer (North Penn) rushed for 86 yards on 20 carries in Lycoming’s 10-7 win over Lebanon Valley in a driving snowstorm on Saturday. Blair Ransome (Hatboro-Horsham) rushed for 62 yards to lead Lebanon Valley.
Jack Metz (Souderton) had a pair of sacks in Shippensburg’s 40-0 win over Millersville on Saturday. Jake Allen (Pennsbury) delivered a career-high 14 tackles for the Marauders.
Kutztown’s junior quarterback Kevin Morton (Abington) has been selected as a Beyond Sports College Network (BSN) Offensive Player of the Week. Morton played a significant role in guiding the Golden Bears to a 42-30 road victory over CW Post last week. KU is ranked 16th in Division II by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), 17th by the d2football.com and eighth in Super Region I. Morton entered the game having completed 42 of his last 47 passes. In a 21-point first quarter, Morton was a perfect 9-for-9 with 182 yards on his first three drives of the game. He finished with 458 passing yards and three touchdowns. Morton set a career-high in passing yards in the victory and added onto his individual school record. His previous high was 451 in last season’s win over West Chester. He has 2,260 passing yards through eight games this season and is third in the PSAC in passing yards per game (288.5). At the national level, Morton is ranked in the top 15 in a pair of offensive categories. He is fifth in Division II in passing efficiency (166.79) and 14th in total offense (294.62). Morton has thrown at least two TDs in 22 of Kutztown’s last 25 games. With Morton under center, Kutztown has scored 831 points in its last 21 games (39.57/game). Additionally, Kutztown has scored 30 or more points 21 times since Morton made his first start against West Chester in Week 4 of 2009. Morton is second in KU history with 79 touchdown passes and 7,814 passing yards. Kutztown leads the PSAC in scoring offense (42.0) and total offense (511.0), is second in rushing offense (222.5) and third in passing offense (288.5).
Josh Mastromatto (Upper Dublin) rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries in Kutztown’s 24-0 win over West 
Chester on Saturday. He is second on the team in rushing (63.8). Brett Moss (Bensalem) led the way for KU on the defensive front line. He had two and a half sacks in the victory and four tackles for a loss. He finished with seven total tackles. Moss entered Saturday’s game ranked second in the PSAC and tied for 13th in Division II in sacks/game (.94). Junior defensive back Alex DiNolfi (Neshaminy) had a pair of interceptions. He leads the team with seven this season. Karolis Bimba (Central Bucks South) got the start at defensive end and finished with 1.5 sacks. Morton finished with 58 passing yards, the lowest of his career. He has now thrown 106 passes without an interception.
MEN’S GOLF
Mike Johnson (Hatboro-Horsham) carded a 73 to tie for second in the 70-player field at the Immaculata Invitational on Monday at the Inniscronne Golf Course. La Salle ran away with the team title, capturing the title by 12 strokes. One day earlier. Johnson shot two-over 72 to help La Salle take the lead after one round.
MEN’S SOCCER
Junior Andrew Foran (Council Rock North) made four saves in Shippensburg’s 1-0 loss to No. 16 California (Pa.) on Saturday. On Wednesday, Foran recorded four saves in Shippensburg’s 3-2 come-from-behind win over NYIT.
Sean Peckham (Central Bucks East) contributed an assist in Ursinus College’s 3-1 win over NJIT 3-1 on Tuesday.
Fran Miller (Central Bucks East) contributed an assist in Bloomsburg’s 2-1 win over East Stroudsburg. The win vaulted the Huskies into the PSAC Men’s Soccer Tournament. East Stroudsburg freshman goalkeeper Sean Murphy (North Penn) had five saves.
Millersville freshman Christopher Davidson (North Penn) fired a shot in the 71st minute of Sunday’s game against West Chester that hit the post and came down in the box. Teammate Andrew Dukes tapped the ball in the net, propelling the Marauders to a 1-0 win that gave Millersville a share of the PSAC regular season title.
Geoff Cochrane (Council Rock South) scored a goal in Elizabethtown’s 4-1 win over Susquehanna on Wednesday.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Redshirt junior Tara Murphy (Council Rock South) recorded seven saves in goal in Temple’s 0-0 tie with St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Samantha Farlow (Bensalem) was one of five seniors honored before the game. On Friday, Murphy recorded her fourth shutout of the season in Temple’s 1-0 win over Duquesne.
Freshman Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) contributed an assist on the game-winning goal in Holy Family’s 2-1 win over Millersville on Wednesday.
Devon Miniscalco (Council Rock South) was one of five seniors honored before East Stroudsburg’s 3-0 win over Mercyhurst on Wednesday.
Junior Ashley McKenna (Central Bucks South) scored her third goal of the season in East Stroudsburg’s 2-1 loss to Bloomsburg.
Melissa Kornock (North Penn) scored her 13th goal of the season, helping IUP to a 1-1 tie with Alderson-Broaddus on Thursday.
Cara Deola (Council Rock South) contributed a goal and an assist in West Chester’s 5-1 win over Millersville on Sunday. Teammates Jen Hutchinson (Neshaminy) and Ashley Saylor (Central Bucks South) also contributed goals.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Mark DiLemmo (Central Bucks East) had a pair of first place finishes in Bloomsburg’s 114-80 loss to West Chester on Friday. DiLemmo was first in the 200-fly with a time of 2:02.62 and the 500-free with a time of 5:00.60.
Senior Joe Keefe (Neshaminy) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.98 in Shippensburg’s meet at Clarion on Friday night.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Julia DeVincent (Upper Dublin) finished second in the 200-free with a time of 1:59.81 in Bloomsburg’s 107-90 loss to West Chester on Friday.
Victoria DeTample (Pennsbury) finished third in the 200 freestyle in Millersville’s 127-68 win over Mansfield on Saturday. Ashley Kichline (Souderton) was a member of the Marauders’ second-place 400-yard medley relay.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Freshman outside hitter Devon Maugle (Plymouth Whitemarsh) led the Connecticut attack in Sunday’s 3-1 Big East win over DePaul. Maugle netted a match-high 16 kills to go along with seven digs. In Saturday’s 3-2 win over Notre Dame, Maugle had a career day, contributing 18 kills – surpassing her previous career-high of 13. She also had 17 digs, also a career-high, for her second career double-double.
Sophomore middle blocker Brittany O’Hara (Pennridge) had six kills and a team-high four blocks in Moravian’s 3-2 win over Widener on Friday.
Katherine Tohanczyn (North Penn) was one of three seniors recognized prior to Chestnut Hill’s 3-0 loss to Caldwell College on Saturday. The right side hitter is a two-year captain who is in eighth place all-time in kills (208) and third in assists (390).
Senior Aileen Reilly (Pennsbury) and sophomore Stephanie Farrar (North Penn) each had four kills and eight digs in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 3-0 loss to Stevenson on Saturday. On Tuesday, Reilly had a team-high 11 digs in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 3-1 loss to Immaculata.
Freshman Julie Harvey (Hatboro-Horsham) had seven kills and two blocks in Franklin & Marshall’s 3-0 win over Gettysburg on Wednesday. On Monday, Harvey notched 15 kills and a .306 hitting percentage in Franklin & Marshall’s 3-2 win over Elizabethtown. Lindsay Palm (Council Rock North) had nine kills to lead Elizabethtown.
Palm registered eight kills and a .727 hitting percentage in Elizabethtown’s 3-0 win over Arcadia on Wednesday.
