MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Penn State Abington sophomore Alexander Kane (Central Bucks East) posted a time of 27:10 at the 2013 NCAA Regionals on Saturday afternoon, good enough for the 120th spot. Junior Nicholas Volpe (William Tennent) followed that with a 211th place finish by running the 8K course in 28:33.

Ursinus sophomore David Slade (Abington) finished with a time of 29:38 at the NCAA Mid-East Regional on Saturday at Lehigh University.

Gwynedd Mercy freshman Matt French (Bensalem) posted a time of 29:06 at the 2013 Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday. The Griffins claimed 21st place overall in a field of 54 competing teams.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Penn State Abington freshman Cecilia Rosenbloom (Cheltenham) posted a time of 26:55 at the 2013 NCAA Regionals on Saturday while senior Megan O’Farrell (Pennsbury) crossed the finish line in a time of 26:59. It was the final race of O’Farrell’s career, and she became the first runner in program history to earn a letter all four years.

La Salle’s Anne Areias (William Tennent) finished 81st with a time of 21:54 at the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday at Lehigh University. The Explorers posted a 12th place finish out of 29 teams.

Gwynedd Mercy freshman Hannah Geiger (Council Rock South) posted a time of 24:47 at the 2013 Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Muhlenberg College on the campus of Lehigh University. The team finished 26th out of 52 scoring teams.

Temple freshman Megan Schneider (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a time of 24:23 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Friday at Lehigh University.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Junior forward Mike Marvin (Hatboro-Horsham) scored 34 points and also had 15 rebounds in Penn State Abington’s 95-93 loss in double overtime to Immaculata on Saturday in the consolation game of the Scranton Tipoff Tournament. Marvin was named to the all-tournament team. In Friday’s 109-86 loss to Randolph-Macon in an opening round game, Marvin led the Nittany Lions with 20 points.

Freshman Justin Lewis (Upper Merion) had 15 points in his debut in Cairn University’s 89-69 loss to Stevenson on Saturday.

Dalton Pepper (Pennsbury) scored nine points in the second half to finish with 15 overall in Temple’s 81-77 loss to Kent State on Monday in the Owls’ home opener.

Sophomore Ryan Arcidiacano (Neshaminy) contributed nine points and four assists in Villanova’s 90-59 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday.

Freshman Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 81-80 loss to Muhlenberg in the championship game of the 2013 Scotty Wood Tournament on Saturday. Goodman was named to the all-tournament team. In Friday’s 76-73 win over Hunter, Goodman scored 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Kenny Gula (Quakertown) contributed seven points, two rebounds and one assist in Moravian’s 63-61 win over Mount St. Mary on Saturday. In Friday’s 76-60 loss to Johns Hopkins, Gula had eight points.

Julian Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 10 points off the bench in Lock Haven’s 78-76 loss to Davis & Elkins on Wednesday.

Sophomore guard Ryan Connolly (Souderton) knocked down four three-pointers as part of a career high 20 points in Kutztown’s 62-58 road victory against Goldey-Beacom on Friday night. Connolly scored 13 of his game high 20 points in the second half, connecting on three three-pointers in the opening 4:05. Freshman Josh Johnson (Norristown) blocked a layup with 32 seconds left to help preserve the win.

Senior Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) scored 18 points in Bloomsburg’s 89-79 double overtime win over Lincoln (Pa.) on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 79-61 win over Penn State Hazleton, Christmas had 13 points. In last Friday’s 68-62 loss to Chestnut Hill, Christmas led the Huskies with 19 points.

All-America junior guard Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 18 points, which included four three-pointers, in a 29-12 run to start the second half of East Stroudsburg’s 79-72 win over UDC on Saturday. Grant, the returning PSAC East Athlete of the Year, tied a career high with five three-pointers and moved into third on ESU’s career list with 130. In Tuesday’s 106-58 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley, Grant had 11 points. In last Saturday’s 90-65 win at St. Thomas Aquinas, Grant had 18 points and seven assists. Freshman guard Anthony McKie (Plymouth Whitemarsh) added six points off the bench.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior Brittany Sandone (Souderton) led all scorers with a career-high 27 points, including 12-for-13 from the free throw line, in Cabrini’s 74-63 win over Kean University in the consolation game at the season-opening Swarthmore College Tournament on Sunday. The senior was named to the All-Tournament Team, and her big performance leaves her just four points shy of joining Cabrini’s 1,000-point club.

Sophomore Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) recorded game highs of 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting) and 13 rebounds in Shippensburg’s 94-81 win over NYIT in the finale of the 2013 Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic on Sunday. The 94 points were the most the Raiders have scored in a game in over three years. In Shippensburg’s 72-61 loss to Goldey-Beacom on Friday, Knauer had seven points and six rebounds. In Monday’s 78-72 season-opening win over Shepherd, Knauer led all players with a career-high 27 points on 12-of-20 shooting. Her 13 rebounds resulted in her 13th career double-double.

Sophomore Alex Wheatley (Council Rock South) had 10 points in Princeton’s 81-58 win over Marist on Sunday. In last Sunday’s 79-65 loss to Rutgers, Wheatley had 14 points and a team high 10 rebounds.

Ginny Edwards (Central Bucks South) had 10 points in Wilkes University’s 60-57 loss to host McDaniel College in the consolation game of the McDaniel Tipoff Tournament on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Helena Gemmell (Council Rock North), who was third in the PSAC with 2.7 steals a game last year, had six steals in 17 minutes in East Stroudsburg’s 66-57 loss to Holy Family on Saturday.

Junior forward Jessica Schmidt (Abington) had six points and 10 rebounds and teammate Kayla Nolan (Abington) added six points in Penn State Abington’s 75-15 loss to Immaculata on Saturday.

Junior guard Shayla Felder (Cheltenham) contributed eight points off the bench in Chestnut Hill’s 75-40 loss to Saint Anselm College on Sunday. In Chestnut Hill’s 97-57 loss to Bloomsburg, Felder had nine points and three rebounds.

Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) contributed eight points and seven rebounds while teammate Sydney Morse (Norristown) had six points and six rebounds in Lock Haven's 50-47 loss to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday. Morse, a freshman, had her first collegiate start in the game. In Friday's 91-86 loss to NYIT, Ryan had 11 points and six rebounds while Morse had four points and three blocked shots. In last Saturday’s 82-74 win over Wilmington (Del.), Ryan had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore Ciara Andrews (Cheltenham) scored a career-best 12 points off the bench in St. Joseph’s 81-73 win over Wichita State in overtime on Friday. She also had four rebounds, three steals and two assists. The Hawks forced overtime on a layup by Andrews with 1.5 seconds to go in regulation.

Junior center Emily Leer (Abington) connected on back-to-back three-point field goals to tie the game at 60-60 in regulation of Villanova’s 79-73 overtime win against Lehigh University on Thursday. Leer had a career-high 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a 6-of-10 effort from three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line. Leer netted 19 of her 24 points in the second half and overtime. She has scored 54 points in three games this season (18.0 ppg).

Sophomore forward Tori Steinberg (Central Bucks South) had 12 points in Ursinus College’s 82-60 win over Rosemont in the consolation game of the 2013 Hampton Inn Women’s Tipoff Tournament hosted by Messiah College. In the Bears’ 83-58 loss to Juniata, Steinberg had eight points off the bench.

Junior Natasha Matthews (Norristown) scored 11 points in Gwynedd Mercy’s 80-51 loss to Montclair State in the championship game of the Gwynedd Mercy Tipoff Tournament on Saturday. Matthews was named to the all-tournament team. In Gwynedd’s 76-60 win over Washington College on Friday, Jordan Dominic (Pennridge) had a game-high 15 points and five assists. The senior drained four of the team’s seven three-pointers. Matthews added 13 points. For Washington College, sophomore Carley Kendall (Souderton) had 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Freshman Alexis Hofstaedter (Council Rock South) contributed two points, five assists and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench in William & Mary's 69-57 loss to East Carolina on Thursday.

FIELD HOCKEY
Sophomore Taylor Prichett (William Tennent) scored two goals, including the game winner, in sixth-seeded Delaware Valley’s 4-3 overtime win at No. 3 Richard Stockton College in the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Region Championships. Prichett scored the game winner just 3:22 into overtime. The win was the Aggies’ first ever postseason win as well as the 13th of the year, breaking the previous school record of 12 set during the 2001 and 2007 seasons. Delaware Valley fell to second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology 3-1 in Saturday’s semifinal. Prichett closed out the year with 21 goals, which included six game winners. The first team All-Freedom Conference honoree finished the year with 46 points.

Sophomore Katie O’Neill (Council Rock North) scored with an assist from senior Maria Karidas (Council Rock South) in Gwynedd Mercy’s 5-2 loss to Mount Holyoke on Wednesday in an opening round game of the 2013 NCAA Division III National Field Hockey Tournament.

Ann Jefferis (Souderton) had a pair of saves in Liberty’s 1-0 loss to No. 14 Delaware in a NCAA Tournament play-in game on Wednesday afternoon.

IUP’s Casey McGowan (Central Bucks South) was named to the All-PSAC second team. McGowan, a defender, started all 19 games for IUP, and she scored seven goals, including one game winner. She connected for the hat trick in IUP’s 3-2 win over Slippery Rock with all three goals a result of penalty corners.

Senior Samantha Facciolla (Council Rock South) received 2013 All-PSAC third team honors. She scored her two career goals this season and also had two assists while starting all 20 games this season.

FOOTBALL
Sean Baner (William Tennent)
connected on a 42-yard field goal in No. 21 Delaware’s 46-43 loss to Richmond on Saturday in a wild Colonial Athletic Association football clash that featured 1,200 yards of total offense.

Junior linebacker James Brennan (Upper Merion) had a forced fumble in Shippensburg’s 42-21 loss to IUP on Saturday.

Rasheed Johnson (Norristown) caused a fumble and took it 32 yards and teammate James Fielder (North Penn) recovered a fumble in Millersville’s 48-14 loss to California (Pa.) on Saturday.

Linebacker Dave Damirgian (Council Rock South) had seven tackles, including three for a loss and a sack, in Monmouth’s 21-18 win over Bryant on Saturday. The Rock South grad stuffed back-to-back runs on the goal line late in the game. For his performance, he was named the FCS Independent Defensive Player of the Week. It is the second time in as many weeks Damirgian has received this honor and the third time he has received the away this year. The Rock South grad leads Monmouth in tackles with 73.

Junior Craig Needhammer (North Penn) rushed 41 times for 162 yards and a touchdown in Lycoming’s 36-20 win over Stevenson on Saturday. He also caught one pass for 17 yards and a score and had 65 return yards for 244 all-purpose yards. Along the way, he tied the school record for touchdowns in a season with 14. He also finished the season with 1,184 rushing yards, good for fifth in program history and 1,539 all-purpose yards, fourth in program annals. Teammate John Sibel (Pennsbury) caught three passes for 30 yards.

Sophomore kicker Eric Boyer (Upper Dublin) had a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of Ursinus College’s 31-0 win over Dickinson on Saturday.

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY
Freshman Kelsey Koelzer (Hatboro-Horsham) scored her first collegiate goal to propel Princeton to a 1-1 tie with No. 5 Boston College on Saturday. Koelzer's power play goal came on a slap shot from the blue line. The Tigers, unbeaten in the last five games, are now 5-2-1 on the season.

MEN’S SOCCER
Drexel freshman goalkeeper Tyler Afflerbach (Souderton) was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association second team. He also was tabbed as the All-Rookie Team goalkeeper. Afflerbach stepped into the starting lineup in the season’s fourth game and won his first five contests, which included three shutouts in his first four outings. He posted a 0.91 goals against average for the season and was twice the recipient of the CAA’s Rookie of the Week award, including the last week of the season when he held the College of Charleston scoreless for the first 87 minutes of play as Drexel clinched the CAA title.
Afflerbach was named to the All-Championship Team after Drexel defeated third-seeded William & Mary 1-0 in Saturday’s CAA championship game. Afflerbach was credited with four saves against a high-powered Tribe offense that had scored six goals in its semifinal victory over No. 2 seed UNC-Wilmington. It is the first ever CAA championships for Drexel, which will return to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. The Dragons will find out their NCAA Tournament seeding and opponent on Monday. In Drexel’s 7-6 win in a shootout over Delaware on Thursday after the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie, Afflerbach was credited with seven saves during the game and added two more in the shootout, including a stop of Delaware’s Drew Colletti to seal the game.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Saint-Pol (Pennridge) made five quality saves to keep the match close in Penn State Abington’s 2-0 loss to Swarthmore in the ECAC playoffs on Wednesday.

Joe Farrell (Wissahickon) connected on a penalty kick as La Salle edged Dayton 3-2 in penalty kicks in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Thursday night. The two teams battled to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes. La Salle fell to Saint Louis 2-1 in Friday’s semifinal game.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Grace Miorelli (Souderton)
had an assist in second-seeded Cedarville’s 4-0 win over third-seeded Oakland City in an NCAA Midwest Region semifinal match on Wednesday. Cedarville fell to Grace 2-0 in Saturday’s title game.

Sophomore Caitlin Sheehan (Pennridge) scored her first career goal in Shippensburg’s 1-0 win over PSAC foe Edinboro on Friday. It is the Raiders’ first ever NCAA Tournament victory. Sheehan scored the game winner in the 71st minute.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Sophomore Carolyn Meier (Upper Dublin) won the 200m (1:57.31) and 500 freestyle (5:23.98) in Shippensburg’s 155-5-105.5 loss to IUP on Nov. 2. Her times in the 200 and 50 (25.13) were PSAC cuts. Meir was part of the second place 200 free relay (1:40.41). Senior Colleen Stiles (North Penn) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.56, which also satisfied the PSAC standard.  She finished second in the 100 back (1:02.67). In Shippensburg’s dual meet wins over California (Pa.) and Fairmont State on Nov. 1, Meier won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.68) and 100-yard freestyle (53.76) and was part of the winning 400 medley relay (4:04.10). Stiles finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.26) while teammate Devon Perugini (Neshaminy) finished third (1:04.33). Both were part of the third place 400 freestyle relay (3:57.03).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Freshman libero Casey Griffith (Upper Merion) led the defense with 13 digs in UMBC’s 3-0 sweep of Providence on Friday night.

Senior Kristy Riley (Hatboro-Horsham) closed out her collegiate career with five kills and nine digs in Cabrini’s 3-2 season-ending loss to Christopher Newport University in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Sophomore Cassidy Koenig (Upper Merion) posted 48 assists on the night. Cabrini closed out the program’s most successful season with an overall record of 29-5.

Franklin & Marshall junior middle hitter Julie Harvey (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Volleyball Player of the Year, headlining a group of four Diplomats who earned All-CC recognition. The junior middle hitter also was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, ensuring her All-America consideration. The honor is the second of Harvey’s career, having earned the same distinction after her freshman campaign. It also is the second time she has been named player of the year with the first honor occurring after her freshman campaign. She becomes only the third player in CC history to win the honor twice and the first F&M player to do so. Harvey has now been named to the All-CC first Team twice while also receiving honorable mention recognition after her sophomore season. Harvey was second in the conference in hitting percentage (.358) and first in total blocks (104). Her 1.07 blocks per set average also ranked first, while her 3.31 kills per set was good for seventh.

Freshman Stephanie Elechko (North Penn) had five kills in Eastern University’s 3-0 win over Christopher Newport University on Saturday in a second round match in the NCAA Tournament. In Friday’s opening round 3-0 win over Johns Hopkins, Elechko had five kills.

Junior captain Devon Maugle (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had eight kills and hit over .300 in UConn’s 3-0 win over Rutgers on Friday night.

Audrey Stringer (Pennsbury) had four kills in Kutztown’s 3-0 loss to West Chester on Saturday.
