MEN’S BASKETBALL
Temple junior forward Lavoy Allen (Pennsbury) was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 7. Allen, who led the #21 Owls to a 1-1 week, earned his third Big 5 honor this season and fifth career Player of the Week award. Allen averaged 15.5 points, 17 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. He scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to lead Temple to a 76-60 win over Duquesne. He followed that with his fifth straight double-double and ninth of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds in a 71-54 loss at Richmond. He is on pace to become the first Temple player to average a double-double since Ollie Johnson accomplished the feat in 1970-71. He currently leads the team with a 10.6 rebound average while scoring at an 11.1 clip.
Freshman Jim Connolly (Souderton) scored eight points in Philadelphia University’s 71-59 win over Holy Family on Friday. In Philly U’s 94-92 overtime win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, Connolly scored 12 points. Teammate Eddie DiRugeris (Pennsbury) added four points.
Junior center Ryan Washington (Wissahickon) collected his 12th double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds in Kutztown’s 81-69 win over Mansfield on Thursday night.
Junior Chris McDevitt (Central Bucks West) scored 12 points in Widener’s 80-67 win over Elizabethtown on Saturday. Bryan Harrity (Central Bucks South) scored a career-high 17 points in 19 minutes off the bench for Elizabethtown.
Senior Robby Pines (Souderton) contributed 11 points, nine assists and four steals in East Stroudsburg’s 83-73 win over Shippensburg on Saturday. Pines, the PSAC leader with 6.5 assists per game, moved into ESU’s single season and career top 10 lists. He has 142 assists this season, tied for eighth in school history, and he has 252 for his career to move into the 10th spot. Pines is also third in the PSAC with 55 steals (2.5 per games) and is one away from breaking the Warriors’ single season list. ESU, ranked #12, improved to 20-2 overall (7-2 PSAC). Brian Oleksiak (Abington) contributed 12 points and three rebounds for Shippensburg.
Bruce Kennedy (Wissahickon) scored eight points in Cheyney’s 91-78 win over Bloomsburg on Monday night.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Jessica Romano (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds in Philadelphia University’s 61-60 win over Bloomfield on Saturday. Romano had 25 points and 11 rebounds in Philly U’s 62-59 win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday.
Sophomore Brittany McClain (Harry S. Truman) hit three three-pointers and scored nine points in East Stroudsburg’s 86-66 loss to Shippensburg.
Misha Horsey (Cheltenham) contributed six points, seven assists and two steals in Stony Brook’s 59-47 win over Maine on Saturday.
Senior Aly Hinton (Council Rock North) had eight points and eight assists in Boston University’s 69-65 win over Albany on Saturday.
Angel Stephens (Bensalem) scored 22 points while teammate Shanira Blake (Cheltenham) added five points in Cheyney’s 71-61 win over Bloomsburg on Monday.
Widener sophomore Casey Pritz (Abington) was named Commonwealth Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career. Pritz finished with 32 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed 20 rebounds in a pair of victories for Widener. She had 18 points and 12 rebounds at Albright and followed that with 14 points and eight rebounds in a 68-60 upset of No. 20 Lebanon Valley. The 2009 conference Rookie of the Year, Pritz is 17th in the league with 9.8 points per game, fifth with 7.9 rebounds per contest, third with a .538 shooting percentage and first with 1.868 blocks per game. Pritzcontributed 19 points and seven rebounds in Widener’s 85-76 Commonwealth Conference win over Alvernia on Thursday.
Senior Antonia Gale (Cheltenham) had four points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in LaSalle’s 70-62 win over Fordham on Saturday.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Freshman Lauren McDermott (North Penn) scored two goals in LaSalle’s season-opening 12-11 loss to the Naval Academy on Friday.
A pair of SOL alums – sophomores Michelle Wiater (Pennridge) and Kelly McKay – will be key members of this year’s Chestnut Hill College lacrosse team.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Widener junior Jesse Bregman (Springfield) avenged his second place finish in the 100 freestyle in last year’s Middle Atlantic Conference championship by winning in a time of 47.72. Senior Matt Slomiany (North Penn) finished second in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:57.82. Sophomore Sean Corcoran (Pennsbury) finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.12. Widener captured its 12th league championship.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
East Stroudsburg senior Heather Van O’Linda (Norristown) finished third in the 100 free (55.53), fourth in the 100 breast and seventh in the 50 free at the ESU Invitational on Sunday. Junior Amy Rowland (Upper Moreland) finished third in the 200 back, fifth in the 50 free and was part of the fourth place 200 medley relay. Sam Hoch (Norristown) finished seventh in the 200 fly and fifth in the 1,650 free. 
MEN’S TRACK & Field
Sean Duffy (Council Rock South) turned in a season-best performance in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.91 for Bloomsburg in Sunday’s Kane Invitational at Cornell University. Teammate Abu Siddique (North Penn) turned in his season-best effort in the 400 meters with a time of 52.96 seconds.
Junior Sean Stetler (Central Bucks South) led the pack of Shippensburg runners in the 3K at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games on Friday night, posting a time of 8:40.47, which ranks seventh in the PSAC.
Brandon Pomerantz (Council Rock North) was part of Lock Haven’s distance medley relay team that clocked the fourth fastest time in the nation on Friday night at the Boston University Valentine Invitational with a time of 9:56.55. On Saturday, Pomerantz finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:22.04 at the Bucknell Winter Classic. He finished sixth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:43.66.
WOMEN’S TRACK & Field
Alilia Anderson (Cheltenham) turned in a season-best performance for Bloomsburg in the long jump with a mark of 4.65 meters (15’3.25”) at Sunday’s Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell.
Lock Haven’s Christy Ohmott (Hatboro-Horsham) won the pole vault with a mark of 10-11.75 at the Bucknell Winter Classic on Saturday.
East Stroudsburg’s Kayla Littrell (William Tennent) finished 20th in the 400 meter run at the 11th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Sunday.
Shippensburg junior Laura Henzy (Neshaminy) cracked the PSAC top 10 for the season in the 400-meter dash at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games on Saturday. She was also part of the 4x400 relay that posted a time of 3.54.63. Freshman Caitlin Stuetz (Cheltenham) finished the 60-meter hurdles in 9.19 seconds, the third fastest time in the PSAC this season.
Gettysburg freshman Christine Esposito (Neshaminy) finished fifth in the 5K with a time of 19:08.06 at Saturday’s Bucknell Winter Classic.
WRESTLING
Senior Bill Purvis (Souderton) picked up a 6-0 decision at 157 pounds in Shippensburg’s 29-12 loss to No. 8 Gannon on Friday night.
James Bak (Harry S. Truman) dropped a 16-2 major decision at 125 in Bloomsburg’s 22-15 win over Lock Haven on Friday night.
David Luthy (Plymouth Whitemarsh) dropped a 15-5 major decision at 125 in East Stroudsburg’s 35-3 loss to Binghamton on Thursday.
