BASEBALL
Tony Donofry (Council Rock North) and teammate Eric Elbert (Council Rock South) each had two RBIs in Bloomsburg’s 14-4 win over Briarcliffe on Friday. Donofry had one hit and three RBIs in Bloomsburg’s 16-13 win over Apprentice School on Thursday.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Freshman Jim Connolly (Souderton) contributed 22 points, two assists and one steal to lead Philadelphia University to a 70-67 win over Post University on Saturday. With the win, Philly U – ranked 9th in the latest NCAA Division II East Regional poll – improved to 22-6 overall (14-1 CACC). On Tuesday, Connolly had 13 points, three assists and one block in Philly U’s 57-52 win over the University of the Sciences. Teammate Eddie DiRugeris (Pennsbury) added three points.
Senior Robby Pines (Souderton) contributed five points, three rebounds and six assists in East Stroudsburg’s 63-55 overtime win over Cheyney on Saturday. The win put ESU in a three-way tie for first place with a record of 21-4 overall (8-4 PSAC). Pines had 14 points, five assists and five steals in ESU’s 71-61 loss to Mansfield on Wednesday. Chris Pender (Cheltenham) contributed 12 points, five rebounds and two steals for Mansfield.
Pines was named one of two ESU representatives on the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Teams of the Year. Pines leads the PSAC and ranks eighth in Division II with 6.5 assists per game and is tied for 13th in the nation with 2.5 steals per game. He is averaging 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds a game and is fourth on the team in both categories. Pines was recognized as ESU’s ‘Unsung Hero’ at December’s luncheon after ranking sixth in Division II with  a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior.
Senior forward Brian Oleksiak (Abington) scored a career-high 15 points that included a perfect 9-for-9 effort from the foul line in Shippensburg’s 87-83 win over No. 16 Kutztown on Saturday. Ryan Washington (Wissahickon) scored a game-high 23 points for Kutztown. Oleksiak had nine points in Shippensburg’s 82-68 loss to Bloomsburg on Wednesday.
Thomas Young (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 22 points, 14 in the second half, in IUP’s 62-49 win over Gannon on Saturday. The win clinched IUP’s first PSAC West regular season title in 15 years. IUP, ranked 8th in the nation and second in the Atlantic Region, is 22-2 over (11-1 PSAC West).
Junior Lavoy Allen (Pennsbury) made 8-of-10 shots for 17 points in Temple’s 78-56 win over Rhode Island last Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior Jackie Dooley (Cheltenham) scored a career high 26 points and connected on the 1,000th point of her career in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 92-72 win over Cedar Crest on Senior Night on Thursday. The win upped Gwynedd’s record to 16-7 overall (13-2 CSAC).
Angel Stephens (Bensalem) contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds in Cheyney’s 73-61 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In the game, Stephens surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for her career.
Junior Ashley Gale (Cheltenham) scored 14 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds in LaSalle’s 75-63 win over Rhode Island on Saturday. She also had four assists, two blocks and one steal. The Explorers are 6-2 when Gale fills the stat sheet with at least four points and one in each of the other categories. Senior Antonia Gale (Cheltenham) added seven points and two steals. In LaSalle’s 62-57 loss to UMass on Wednesday, Antonia Gale had 12 points, three rebounds and three steals.  Ashley Gale added eight points, five rebounds and two assists.
Senior Aly Hinton (Council Rock North) contributed 14 points, nine rebounds and two assists in Boston University’s 69-59 win over Stony Brook. Misha Horsey (Cheltenham) contributed seven points and three assists for Stony Brook.
Jessica Romano (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds in Philadelphia University’s 73-67 win over Post on Saturday.
Brittany McClain (Harry S. Truman) contributed five assists in East Stroudsburg’s 68-63 win over Mansfield on Wednesday. Nicole Pender (Cheltenham) scored 10 points for Mansfield.
Jamie Donovan (Central Bucks East) scored 12 points in Lock Haven’s 58-57 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday, connecting on 4-of-7 from three-point range. Donovan had a pair of three’s and contributed eight points in Lock Haven’s 60-48 win over Slippery Rock on Wednesday. Teammate Heather McHugh (Norristown) scored nine points.
Sophomore Casey Pritz (Abington) scored 10 points in Widener’s 75-64 win over Lycoming. It was the sixth straight win for Widener, which improved to 15-10 overall (11-3 CC).
Mashira Newman (Upper Dublin) scored eight points and handed out six assists in Millersville’s 56-47 win over Bloomsburg on Saturday. Monica Newman (Upper Dublin) added two points. Mashira Newman is second in the PSAC with 86 steals. She is averaging 10.7 PPG as well as 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Jen Sroba (Council Rock North) scored nine points for Ursinus in its 80-46 loss to Muhlenburg. Earlier this season, Ursinus senior Carolyn Konstanzer (Pennridge) surpassed the 1,000-point plateau.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Sophomore Nate Meyer (Abington) scored the game’s first goal in Widener’s 15-3 loss to #2 Stevenson in its season opener on Sunday.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
LaSalle sophomore Sara Ciaverelli (North Penn) was named Defensive Player of the Week in the Atlantic 10. She picked up three ground balls and forced one Navy turnover in LaSalle’s season opener. She is the first Explorer to ever be named Defensive Player of the Week by the A-10.
SOFTBALL
Senior Lisamarie Ramagli (Neshaminy) has been named a captain of this year’s Shippensburg softball squad. SU is voted second in a preseason PSAC Eastern Division Coaches Poll.
Sophomore third baseman Rachel Gieringer (Hatboro-Horsham) is among the top returners on East Stroudsburg’s softball team that is picked fourth in the PSAC East Preseason Poll. Gieringer was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year after starting 36 games at third base and hitting .303 with a team-high 24 RBIs in her first year at ESU.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Shippensburg sophomore Joe Keefe (Neshaminy) won the consolation final in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.11 in this weekend’s PSAC Championships. Freshman Stew Conard (Upper Moreland) also got points in the consolation final with a time of 2:01.99. Junior Tim Smullen (Upper Dublin) won the consolation final of the 100 free with a time of 47.32 while senior Nate Ryan (Hatboro-Horsham) earned points with a time of 47.87. Smullen was part of the 200 free relay that finished third with a time of 1:25.81. Ryan and Smullen were part of Shippensburg’s fourth place 400 medley relay team that posted a time of 3:29.37. Shippensburg finished third overall.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Lock Haven’s Kasey Campbell (Neshaminy) was 17th in the 1,650 free with a time of 17:46.67 in this weekend’s PSAC Championships. Lock Haven finished ninth overall (211 points) in the 13-team field. Campbell was also part of the 800 free relay that finished in eighth with a school record time of 7:59.75. Campbell set a school record in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:54.70, good enough for 19th place. Her mark broke her own school record.
Shippensburg freshman Alayna Ryan (Abington) finished fifth in the 800 freestyle with a time of 7:48.70 at this weekend’s PSAC Championship.
Junior Amy Rowland (Upper Moreland) was part of East Stroudsburg’s 800 free relay that finished 11th with a time of 8:10.05 in the PSAC Championships on Saturday. Rowland finished 26th in the 200 free with a time of 2:03.47.
Maryland freshman Megan Lafferty (Upper Dublin) finished 12th in the 100 free at the 2010 ACC Championships with an NCAA B cut time of 50.12. She finished 13th in the 100 backstroke with a B cut time of 55.09 and was 19th in the 50 free with a time of 23.11. Lafferty was also part of Maryland's second place 200 free relay that finished with an NCAA B cut time of 1:30.05, which is a new school record. She was a part of the second place 400 free relay team that clocked an NCAA B cut time of 3:17.79, also a new school record. Lafferty was a member of the 200 medley relay that finished third with an NCAA B cut time of 1:40.57.
Paige Whitmire (Souderton) was part of Penn State’s 400 free relay team that finished eighth with a ‘NCAA B’ time of 3:21.24 in this weekend’s Big 10 Championships. Penn State finished seventh.
MEN’S TENNIS
Dan Lee (Abington) notched a 6-1, 5-7, 10-4 win in Flight B singles for TCNJ this weekend at the Sea Gull Invite hosted by Salisbury University. He also teamed with Jonathan Yu to earn a 7-0 win in doubles competition.
MEN’S TRACK
Shippensburg sophomore Eric Wolfe (Central Bucks) posted a season-best time of 50.48 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the Kent State Tune-Up. His time ranks 15th in the PSAC. Junior Sean Stetler (Central Bucks South) finished fifth in the mile with a time of 4:18.06.  
Temple junior Brian Smith (Council Rock South) placed sixth in the pole vault with a jump of 13-09.75 at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships at the University of Rhode Island.                                                             
 WOMEN’S TRACK
East Stroudsburg’s Kayla Littrell (William Tennent) finished 16th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.44 at the Keough Invitational at Haverford College on Friday night.
Temple freshman Victoria Gocht (Upper Dublin) was named the women’s Most Outstanding Rookie Performer at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Gocht won the 800 meter title with a time of 2:11.13 and helped lead the 4x800 meter relay to victory. She was the lone Owl to win an individual title. Temple finished third, tying a program best finish.
Junior Laura Henzy (Neshaminy) was part of Shippensburg’s 4x400 relay team that posted another NCAA provisional mark of 3:52.85 in its meet at Kent State this weekend. Shippensburg defeated Slippery Rock by three one-hundredths of a second to rank atop the PSAC and 17th in Division II.
Senior Sara Coleman (Neshaminy) finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:34.23 as Gettysburg finished first among 15 teams at the Dickinson College DuCharme Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Christine Esposito (Neshaminy) finished second in the mile with a time of 5:28.81.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Elizabethtown freshman Lindsay Palm (Council Rock North) was named the MAC Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year while also being named to the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team. A middle hitter for the Blue Jays, Palm became the first Elizabethtown player since 2004 to earn Commonwealth Rookie of the Year honors after ranking third in the league with a .294 hitting percentage on the strength of 206 kills. She also ranked third on the team with 56 blocks. She started in each of the team’s 30 season matches. Elizabethtown finished 20-10 overall and in second place in the conference with a record of 6-1, advancing to the conference championship match for the fourth straight season before falling in a five-set thriller to Lebanon Valley. Palm achieved a career high 16 kills with a .419 hitting percentage in the championship match with Lebanon Valley.
WRESTLING
Senior Bill Purvis (Souderton) dropped an 8-5 decision at 157 pounds in Shippensburg’s 30-4 loss to No. 18 Kutztown on Saturday. Kutztown’s David Zeek (Council Rock North) earned an 8-1 decision at 165. Purvis boasts a 6-6 dual meet record. His overall record is 7-10. Teammate Nate Nauroth (Quakertown) has a 13-3 record in dual meets. In his 34 career matches during his two years with the Red Raiders, he has racked up 13 pins and one major decision.  Counting his four years as a collegiate wrestler, Nauroth has posted an overall record of 51-27 that includes 19 pins, three major decisions and two tech falls. He was a runner-up at the PSAC Championships as a freshman. This season, he is among the top wrestlers in the Atlantic Region at 141 pounds and has posted a 9-3 record with seven pins.
East Stroudsburg senior David Luthy (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was pinned at 125 in the Warriors’ 29-11 upset of No. 18 Kutztown on Tuesday. He was one of two seniors honored before the match. Kutztown’s David Zeek (Council Rock North) was pinned at 165.
