BASEBALL
Ryan Pater (Central Bucks East)
had a pair of hits and scored two runs in St. Joseph’s 5-2 win over Buffalo on Sunday.

Senior Ryan Brown (Souderton) reached base six times and scored four runs in Messiah College’s split with Lebanon Valley on Saturday. Messiah won the first game 10-1 but fell in the second 8-0. In Messiah’s 6-3 win over Rutgers-Camden on Thursday, Brown was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and run scored. In Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to Northwood, Brown was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored. In Monday’s 7-1 win over Richard Stockton, Brown collected one hit, one RBI and scored a run.

Freshman Craig Lepre (North Penn) was 2-for-4 with a single and double in Albany's 8-3 loss to St. John's on Friday. Last weekend, Lepre was 6-for-10 with four RBIs in a pair of games against New York Technical Institute. For the season, Lepre, who has played in 13 games and started nine, is hitting .323 with two doubles and five RBIs.

Jordan Hofferman (Cheltenham) worked two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win in Arcadia’s 3-1 win over Alvernia on Saturday. In Arcadia’s 11-0 win over Penn State-Harrisburg, Hofferman earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing just one hit while fanning two and walking three.

Eric Ruth (North Penn) earned the win in Winthrop’s 5-2 win over Rider on Saturday, tossing 5.0 innings and giving on two runs on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Ryan Henritzy (Council Rock North) contributed a hit and two RBIs in Lock Haven’s 9-8 loss to Ohio Dominican on Wednesday. Alec Jacob (Pennsbury) came on in relief to throw the final inning in Lock Haven’s 11-9 loss to Clarion on Saturday.

Pete O’Hara (Council Rock North) was 2-for-5 and scored a run in Delaware Valley’s 11-8 loss to Hilbert College on Friday. In Delaware Valley’s 13-1 win in game two, O’Hara was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs while teammate Brandon Bell (Norristown) was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. In the Aggies 14-0 win over Bethany College on Thursday, O’Hara was 2-for-2 with a double, two stolen bases, two runs scored and two RBIs. In Delaware Valley’s 16-0 win in game two of the twinbill against Bethany, O’Hara and Bell combined for four hits, three runs and two RBIs. In Wednesday’s 9-4 loss to Richard Stockton, Bell was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Mike Ferrier (Pennridge) was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Mike Bradstreet (North Penn) picked up his fourth save of the season and second in as many days in Rhode Island’s 10-8 win over Cal State Northridge on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s 5-4 win over Cal State Northridge, Bradstreet worked a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Keith Meyer (Council Rock South) contributed a hit and scored a run in Bloomsburg’s 3-2 win over Millersville on Sunday.

Adam Kammler (Pennridge) contributed an RBI in a five-run first in La Salle’s 7-6 win over New York Tech on Sunday afternoon. Teammate Jon Gyles (Central Bucks West) contributed a hit. In Saturday’s 3-2 win over St. Peter’s, Kammler had two hits, including an RBI double. Gyles also had a pair of hits.  Kevin Christy (North Penn) threw the first seven innings, allowing one hit and one run while walking none and striking out seven. He was not involved in the decision. For St. Peter’s, catcher James Smith (North Penn) contributed an RBI. In La Salle’s 7-6 win over Buffalo on Friday, Kammler delivered an RBI triple. In Tuesday’s 9-7 win over Temple, Gyles contributed one hit, an RBI and a run scored. Mike McLeod (Harry S. Truman) threw two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two hits while striking out one.

Matt Albaugh (North Penn) contributed a pair of hits and scored a run in Kutztown’s 10-8 win over Philadelphia University on Sunday. Ken McCormick (Pennsbury) contributed a double and two RBIs for Philly U. In Kutztown’s 7-0 win over Shippensburg on Friday, Albaugh was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. He is leading the team in hitting with a .424 average on the season. In Wednesday’s 8-2 win over Virginia State University, Albaugh delivered a two-run pinch single.

Matt Hone (Council Rock North) had a pair of hits, including a double, in Widener’s 12-1 win over Haverford on Wednesday. In Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Albright, Hone delivered an RBI single to drive in Widener’s lone run.

After starting at second base in 13 spring training games for Moravian, sophomore second baseman and two-hole hitter Dan Seitzinger (Central Bucks West) is among team and conference leaders in several categories. Heading into the first weekend of Landmark Conference play against Catholic University, Seitzinger was batting .347 with 17 hits, eight runs scored, one double, one triple, five RBIs, six walks, two stolen bases, and five double plays. He has recorded 30 putouts and 37 assists with a .944 fielding percentage.

Seitzinger was 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in Moravian’s 5-2 win over Catholic University on Saturday. In Moravian’s 16-1 win over Catholic University in game two of the twinbill, Seitzinger was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. In Sunday’s 18-3 win over Catholic University, Seitzinger finished with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Freshman rightfielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) went 5-for-7 in the the three-game series with four runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Hanson has been coming on strong for the Greyhounds, collecting 15 hits in 33 at-bats. Hanson and Seitzinger were former CB West co-captains

Robbie Zinsmeister (North Penn) contributed a pair of hits, including a triple, and also scored two runs in IUP’s 8-5 win over Cal (of Pa.) on Saturday. In a 7-6 loss in game two of the twinbill, Dylan Tice (Pennridge) contributed a hit and scored a pair of runs. In Wednesday’s 20-7 win over Lenoir-Rhyne, Tice was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Zinsmeister contributed a double. In IUP’s 8-1 loss in game two of the twinbill, Zinsmeister’s RBI single in the second accounted for the team’s only run. In IUP’s 14-8 loss to Brevard on Tuesday, Zinsmeister was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Tice allowed one hit in 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. In IUP’s 7-6 win over Brevard, Zinsmeister scored three runs while Tice collected a hit.

Michael Corrigan (William Tennent) contributed a pair of hits, including a double, in Penn State-Abington’s 8-4 win over Ursinus College in game one of a twinbill on Saturday.

John Burns (Neshaminy) contributed a pair of hits, one RBI and a run scored in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 9-5 loss to Misericordia on Saturday. Eric Heaney (Hatboro-Horsham) added a double. John Barrington (Harry S. Truman) absorbed the loss on the mound. In Gwynedd’s 9-5 win over Penn State-Abington on Friday, freshman Ryan Downs (Council Rock South) threw 1.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief while striking out a pair. In Wednesday’s 11-3 win over Haverford, sophomore John Burns (Neshaminy) reached base on five walks on the day, one short of tying an NCAA Division III record.

Keith Moyer (Souderton) threw two scoreless innings in East Stroudsburg’s 6-0 win over the University of Sciences on Sunday. He did not allow a hit and fanned a pair while walking one.

Freshman David Pine (Council Rock North) contributed two hits and an RBI in Millersville’s 8-1 win at Chowan on Wednesday. Teammate Chris Edgar (North Penn) contributed a base hit as well as a sacrifice fly and also scored a run. In Millersville 16-9 win over Chowan on Thursday, Edgar delivered a solo home run in a two-run second and finished the game with two hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Pine added a pair of hits, two RBIs and one run scored.

Senior leftfielder Alex Latchum (Central Bucks South) contributed three hits in Chestnut Hill’s 10-7 loss to Wilmington University on Thursday. Ray Puskar (Pennridge) contributed two hits, including an RBI double, while teammate Joe Crane (Council Rock South) added a basehit. In Sunday’s 7-6 win over Post, Latchum was 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Puskar and Crane each added a hit, RBI and run scored.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore forward CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was the only Hawk in double figures with 16 points in St. Joseph’s 67-65 loss to Northern Iowa in a first round game of the NIT on Wednesday.

Junior guard Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) scored a game-high 19 points, but 12th-seeded South Florida earned a 58-44 upset over fifth-seeded Temple in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Owls ended their season with a 24-7 record.

Wyatt earned another postseason honor on Wednesday when he was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division 1 First Team All-District Team. The NABC All-District teams recognize the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 240 student-athletes from 24 districts are eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division I All-American teams. Wyatt, a second team all-A-10 selection, ranks fourth in the conference in scoring with a 17.1 average. He scored in double figures in 19 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the A10. The Norristown alum also ranks fourth in the A-10 in steals (2.2 per game) and free throw percentage (.854).

Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) scored 11 points in Cabrini’s 81-78 win over Illinois Wesleyan University in Friday night’s NCAA semifinal game at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va., to earn a spot in their first ever national championship game. Teammate Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) added three points and three rebounds. In Saturday’s 63-60 loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the title game, Rafferty had six points, two assists and three rebounds while Dulac added three rebounds. Cabrini closed out its season with a 31-2 record.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Redshirt freshman Emily Leer (Abington) scored seven points in Villanova’s 58-39 home win over American University in the first round of the WNIT on Tuesday. Sarah Kiely (Council Rock North) contributed seven rebounds and five points for American.

MEN’S LACROSSE
Johnny Casey (Abington)
contributed an assist in Widener’s 10-6 loss to #10 Dickinson on Saturday.

Patrick Corcoran (Central Bucks South) scored a goal in Alvernia’s 23-2 win over Penn State-Abington on Saturday. Andrew Girondo (Upper Dublin) contributed an assist and two ground balls for Penn State-Abington.

Sophomore faceoff specialist Shawn Caven (Pennsbury) was 11-for-18 on face-offs and collected seven ground balls in Ursinus College’s 8-6 win over Swarthmore on Saturday. In Ursinus College’s 9-6 win over Plattsburgh State, Caven was 10-for-18 on face-offs in the game.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Senior Rachel Dirksen (Abington) contributed five goals and two assists in Messiah College’s 14-11 win over Rowan University on Thursday. She also added five draw controls. Freshman Madi Brunk (Cheltenham) added a goal and an assist as Messiah improved to 6-0 on the young season. In Tuesday 16-3 win over St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Dirksen scored four goals.

Dirksen, a senior attacker for Messiah College, was named Commonwealth Player of the Week for the week ending March 12. During that week, Dirksen led Messiah to a 2-0 record. She opened the week with a six-goal, two-assist performance against #20 Dickinson. She scored the game-tying goal with 3:47 left in the game and a minute later assisted on the game-winning goal to give the Falcons an 11-10 win. In Messiah’s 18-5 win over Ursinus, she scored five goals and added an assist. Through four games, Dirksen leads the team in goals (22), assists (5), points (27), shots (36), shot percentage (.611) and is tied for the lead with eight ground balls.

Senior attack Kelly McKay (Pennridge) contributed three points in Chestnut Hill’s 20-6 loss to Philadelphia University on Thursday.

Senior Bernadette Maher (Council Rock North) tallied a career-high five goals in American University’s 19-11 loss to No. 19 Massachusetts on Tuesday. Teammate Emily Maher (Pennridge) added a single goal.

Kelly Hamilton (Central Bucks South) contributed a goal and an assist in #4 Lock Haven’s 16-11 win over #13 Florida Southern on Tuesday.  Melinda Wojt (Souderton) led a standout defensive effort for Lock Haven. In Lock Haven’s 13-10 loss to #6 Limestone on Saturday, Wojt was credited with three ground balls and one caused turnover while Hamilton contributed an assist. Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton) was credited with two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Alexis Vanderslice (Council Rock South) and Victoria Brady (North Penn) each scored a goal in Penn State-Abington’s 17-12 loss at Wilkes University on Saturday.

Penn State-Abington’s Tori Kimberly (Central Bucks West) was named the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. Kimberly, a freshman and first-year lacrosse player at any level, tallied six ground balls and five caused turnovers in a pair of contests for the Lions. Kimberly opened the week by forcing three turnovers and collecting a ground ball in a 17-5 loss to Bryn Mawr before recording five ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 16-8 loss to Wesley College.

Junior midfielder Elizabeth Chatburn (Upper Dublin) contributed the hat trick in Ursinus College’s 16-9 win over Swarthmore on Saturday. In Ursinus College’s 19-3 win over Cabrini on Thursday, Chatburn scored a pair of goals. Junior Jackie Kimmel (Hatboro-Horsham) recorded five saves in goal.

Goalkeeper Lauren Mateja (Upper Merion) earned her third win of the season in Millersville’s 17-10 win over Mercy. Mateja, a Mercy transfer, faced her former team for the first time since joining Millersville last season. Teammates Karen Illuminati (Upper Moreland) and Hannah Vogel (Hatboro-Horsham) each contributed a goal. In Tuesday, 17-15 win over previously undefeated Wilmington (Del.), Illuminati connected for the hat trick while Vogel added a single goal.

Kendall Rood (Central Bucks East) scored a goal in Eastern University’s 17-6 loss to Haverford on Tuesday.

Sophomore Amy Cross (Upper Dublin) scored a pair of goals in No. 3 Syracuse’s 18-7 win over No. 18 Towson on Tuesday in the Carrier Dome. In last Saturday’s 10-9 loss to #3 Maryland, Cross contributed a goal.

Jenna D’Arcy (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed a goal in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 17-7 loss to Marywood on Tuesday.

Ali Cross (Upper Dublin) contributed a game-high four assists in addition to a goal and a draw control in Shippensburg’s 19-3 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Teammate Roxanne Brown (Pennridge) also tallied a goal. In Thursday’s 17-0 win over Newberry (S.C.), Cross had two goals, an assist, two caused turnovers, two ground balls and one draw control. Freshman Garrie Grenfell (North Penn) had a pair of goals. In a 14-5 loss to Seton Hill in Shippensburg’s season opener, Cross contributed a goal.

Leeann Pica (Neshaminy) connected for the hat trick in Kutztown’s 19-4 win over Erskine on Tuesday. She also had three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. In Thursday’s 13-3 win over Converse College, Pica contributed two goals and an assist. In Saturday’s 13-5 loss to Shepherd, Pica contributed an assist.

Stephanie Bianco (Upper Merion) contributed three goals and an assist in IUP’s 17-12 win over Queens on Thursday. In Monday’s 14-6 loss to #6 Limestone, Bianco contributed a goal.

Alisha Aquilino (Abington) turned away 10 shots in goal in St. Joseph’s 10-4 loss to Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. In Wednesday’s 14-12 win over Manhattan, Aquilino also recorded 10 saves, six in the second half.

SOFTBALL
Kristen Palmerio (Norristown)
earned the win on the mound in Lebanon Valley’s 5-4 win over Juniata on Wednesday, allowing seven hits while striking out eight and walking none. In Lebanon Valley’s 12-0 win over Juniata in game two of the twinbill, Palmerio led the offense with three hits, which included a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. In a 1-0 loss to Kean on Thursday, Palmerio pitched 10 innings, allowing just one run on three hits and four walks, but she was forced to absorb the loss in the contest. Palmerio fanned 10 and also notched one of her team’s three hits.  In Lebanon Valley’s 7-2 loss to Kean in game two of the doubleheader, Palmerio and teammate Chelsea Detwiler (Norristown) each collected a hit. In Lebanon Valley’s 1-0 upset of #13 SUNY Cortland on Sunday, Palmerio collected her fourth shutout of the season, allowing five hits and four walks with five strikeouts. In Lebanon Valley’s 6-0 win over DeSales later that same day, Palmerio earned her second shutout of the day, scattering five hits while fanning five. She also contributed a pair of hits, an RBI and a run scored. Detwiler also had a hit and an RBI.

Chelsea Edwards (Hatboro-Horsham) was 1-for-2 with a run scored in Lock Haven’s 5-0 win over Merrimack on Saturday. In Friday’s 8-6 loss to Hilldale, Edwards was 2-for-4, and she collected a hit and scored a run in Lock Haven’s 10-2 win over Bentley that same day. In Lock Haven’s doubleheader sweep of Saint Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, Edwards was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in a 12-1 win, and in game two, she was 2-for-3 with a run scored. In Tuesday’s 10-0 win over Philadelphia, Edwards was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Tiffany Sipler (Upper Moreland) threw all nine innings in Penn State-Abington’s 2-1 win over Rosemont on Wednesday, allowing seven hits while fanning six. And walking three.Melissa Kulp (Upper Merion) collected one hit. Sipler also earned the win in Penn State-Abington’s 14-2 win over Rosemont in the second game of the doubleheader, allowing four hits in the abbreviated five-inning game. Kulp led the offense with three hits, including a double. She also scored four runs.

Devon Utterback (Central Bucks South) tossed a complete game five-hitter to earn the win in West Chester’s 6-2 win over Limestone on Thursday. Megan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham) doubled and scored a pair of runs. In an 8-6 loss to New Haven earlier in the day, Jess Schuck (Council Rock South) was 2-for-3, which included a three-run home run in the first that helped stake West Chester to a 6-0 lead.

Freshman Lizzy Parkins (Souderton) earned her first win of the season on Saturday, working six innings and allowing two runs while fanning seven in Shippensburg’s 10-2 win over Glenville State. On Wednesday, Parkins threw 2.2 scoreless innings in relief in Shippensburg’s 7-4 loss to Minnesota-Duluth. Parkins did not allow a hit and fanned three while walking a pair.

Freshman Erica Reis (Central Bucks East) was 2-for-3 with a double in Holy Family’s 1-0 win over Nyack in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. Teammate Lindsey Iden (Council Rock North) contributed an RBI single to drive in the game winner. In Holy Family’s 1-0 win in game two, sophomore Rachael Alligood (Harry S. Truman) pitched five scoreless innings in relief, scattering four hits and striking out four to record the victory.

MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro-Horsham) and Wendell Tegan (Abington) each contributed a pair of hits and one run scored in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 11-9 loss to Cabrini on Saturday. Ballerino also had an RBI. Stephanie Farrar (North Penn) contributed a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. In Gwynedd’s 7-6 loss to Cabrini in game one of the twinbill, Ballerino contributed a hit and scored two runs. Tegan also had a hit and run scored while Nicole Paleologus (Bensalem) collected a pair of hits. In Gwynedd’s 10-0 loss to Neumann on Friday, Ballerino had one of two hits for her team, a triple in the fourth inning.

Alicia Hughes (Quakertown) scattered three hits and fanned five while walking none in eight shutout innings, leading Millersville to a 1-0 win over Bridgeport in extra innings on Friday. In Thursday’s 5-0 loss to Alderson Broaddus, Danielle DiFilippo (Hatboro-Horsham) accounted for one of her team’s two hits. Hughes worked two scoreless innings of relief. In Thursday’s 4-3 win over Bentley, DiFilippo and Gabbie Berry (Norristown) each collected a hit. In Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of American International (5-4, 5-3), Berry contributed three hits while DiFilippo added a pair. Freshman Stephanie Kulp (North Penn) worked 5.2 innings of relief, allowing two hits and one run in Millersville 5-4 loss.

Jamie Schwartz (Souderton) contributed a single and two RBIs in Eastern University’s 10-4 win over Wilkes University in game one of a twinbill on Saturday. In Eastern’s 4-1 loss to Wilkes in game two, Schwartz accounted for two of her team’s five hits.  In Thursday’s 5-4 win over local rival Haverford, Schwartz delivered a two-out single to drive home the game-winning run.  

Deanna Dungee (North Penn) was named the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the week it was announced by the conference on March 12. This is Alvernia's first weekly honor. Dungee also was named the ECAC South Region Pitcher of the week. Dungee started her week with a one-hitter against Penn State-Hazleton and followed that with another one-hitter over Cedar Crest. In her three wins, all were shutouts, and she tallied 20 scoreless innings to start the season. In her 22 innings, she posted 23 strikeouts and ended the week with a 0.95 ERA. Dungee was also impressive at the plate, going 5-for-9 with two runs scored, a double and four RBIs.

Dungee notched the win on the mound in Alvernia's 5-1 win over Penn State Berks on Thursday, working seven innings and allowing just one run on five hits. She also struck out eight Berks batters and walked just one.

Mary Ward (North Penn) had a pair of hits, including a two-run home run, in IUP’s 7-0 win over Glenville State on Sunday. In Thursday’s 10-5 loss to Northwood, Ward collected an RBI single.

Heather Hannum (Hatboro-Horsham) had basehits in #12 Kutztown University’s 5-0 win over Shepherd and 8-0 win over Glenville State on Friday. She also had an RBI in the win over Glenville. In Saturday’s 14-0 win over Fairmont State, Hannum contributed a double and two RBIs. In Sunday’s 11-2 win over Ohio Valley, Hannum had a pair of hits and one RBI.

Rachel Gieringer (Hatboro-Horsham) collected a hit and scored a run in East Stroudsburg’s 7-6 loss to Merrimack and also in the Warriors 4-3 loss to Minot State on Friday. In Wednesday’s 6-5 win over Philadelphia University, Gieringer delivered two hits, including a double, and scored a run. She also had a hit in East Stroudsburg’s 5-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas that same day. In East Stroudsburg’s 4-1 win of Pfeiffer on Monday, Geiringer had a pair of hits.

MEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Indiana University junior Zac Nees (North Penn) won the men’s 1-meter springboard competition with a 12-dive score of 761.75 at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington last weekend. Nees had already earned a spot in the NCAA meet with his performance on the 3-meter springboard where he finished third with a score of 753.15. The NCAA Championships will be held March 22-24 in Federal Way, Wash.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
Junior Paige Whitmire (Souderton) was part of Penn State’s 400 freestyle relay team that posted a time of 3:16.99 to finish 14th at the 2012 NCAA Championships on Saturday night in Auburn, Ala. Whitmire also was part of the 200 freestyle relay that earned a spot in the final with a time of 1:29.85. The time was a season best for Penn State in that relay event. The group earned a 15th place overall finish in the finals, clocking in at 1:30.54. In the 50 freestyle preliminaries, Whitmire qualified for the finals and tied her best time of the season, clocking in at 22:33. She went on to finish 16th overall in the finals with a time of 22.72. Whitmire also was part of the 200 medley relay that finished 15th in the preliminaries and qualified for the finals with a team-record time of 1:38.58. The team reset the school record again in the finals, clocking in at 1:38.48 to finish in a tie for 13th place. The Nittany Lions finished 22nd, the program’s best finish since 2006.

Megan Lafferty (Upper Dublin) touched the wall in 25th place in the 100 free with a time of 48.93 at the 2012 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday in Auburn, Ala. Lafferty was part of the 800 free relay that captured 17th place with a season-high performance (7:13.28). Lafferty narrowly missed the finals in the 100 fly, finishing 19th with a time of 52.72. Lafferty was part of Maryland’s 200 free relay that captured 13th with a time of 1:30.10. Lafferty just missed the finals in the 50 free with a 21st place showing in the preliminaries (22.45). The Terps finished 36th in the overall team standings.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Brandon Bennett-Green (Cheltenham)
was part of Penn State’s 4x400 relay that earned First Team All-America honors by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches’ Association. The 4x400 relay finished second at last weekend’s NCAA Indoor Championships at Boise State University – a program-best finish for the Lions in the event. The team posted a time of 3:05.31 – just off the school record of 3:05.22.

Freshman Brandon Mercer (North Penn) and sophomore Keith Parker-Washington (Upper Moreland) were part of East Stroudsburg’s first place 4x100 relay team at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open at Lynchburg College on Saturday, posting a time of 41.43. Sophomore Christopher Walker (Pennridge) was part of East Stroudsburg’s first place 4x400 relay team that finished with a time of 3:19.05. Mercer finished second in the 100 (10.95) while Parker-Washington was third in the 200 (22.47). Mercer was seventh in the 200 (22.93). Walker finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (56.40) while Parker-Washington took fifth in the long jump (21-2 ¾).

Zach Kohler (Pennridge) finished sixth overall in the decathlon at the Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina with a total of 5,699 points. The senior had top five finishes in the high jump, the 110-meter hurdles and javelin throw.  He qualified for PSAC Championships in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters. Teammate Kevin DiFlorio (Hatboro-Horsham) also qualified for PSACs, finishing 25th in the 800 meter dash.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
IUP’junior Ayanna LeBlanc (North Penn) finished first in the shot put at the George Mason Patriot Open on Saturday in the first day of the outdoor season.

Megan Meyer (Central Bucks South) qualified for the PSAC Championships, finishing 20th in the 800 meter dash at the Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina with a time of 2:19.53. Teammate Michelle Blum (Central Bucks East) also qualified in the 5,000-meter, posting a time of 19:05.27 to place 25th.

Carolyn Fergus (North Penn) ran an 11:55.12 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to finish 14th at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina. The time made her the sixth fastest individual in program history at East Stroudsburg. She was fourth in the event among competitors from Division II and III competitors.
