Freshman Keith Moyer (Souderton) came out of the bullpen and collected the second out of the sixth inning in East Stroudsburg’s 7-5 win over West Chester in the first game of Sunday’s twinbill. West Chester won the second game 4-3, but the Warriors won the season series versus the Golden Rams for the first time since 2002. On Saturday, redshirt sophomore Andy Noga (Cheltenham) struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter while earning the win in ESU’s 6-2 win over West Chester in the second game of a doubleheader sweep. Noga allowed just three hits and only one runner to reach second base in the first five innings before the Golden Bears put together a two-run inning in the bottom of the sixth. He went back on the mound and worked a perfect seventh to wrap up his third straight complete game. In three conference starts, Noga is 2-1 with a 1.29 ERA with 16 hits allowed, 20 strikeouts and no walks in 21.0 innings. For the season, Noga is 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA. ESU is ranked third in the NCBWA Division II Atlantic Region baseball poll after holding the top spot for the last two weeks.

Senior third baseman James Quigley (Bensalem) has been a four-year starter at Kutztown and has been a vital part of a KU squad that has made 10 consecutive postseason appearances. Entering his senior year, Quigley had a career batting average of .343 with 35 doubles and 11 home runs. He was named to the PSAC East first team, ABCA/Rawlings first team and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region honorable mention. Senior Michelle Mangiaruga (North Penn) set a career-high for points for the second straight game, recording five goals and four assists to lead East Stroudsburg to a 17-10 win over Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon. She also had four groundballs. Junior Ali Green (North Penn) added a single goal. For Shippensburg, senior Karen Schnurr (Central Bucks South) contributed the hat trick. In Wednesday’s 8-6 overtime win over No. 13 Bloomsburg, Schnurr scored a pair of goals and contributed an assist.

Freshman Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton) had a goal and an assist as well as two draw controls in No. 2 Lock Haven’s 17-1 win over No. 9 Mercyhurst on Saturday.  In Wednesday’s 12-8 win over No. 11 Gannon University, Walbrandt contributed one goal and one draw control. Lock Haven is behind only Adelphi in the most recent IWLCA Division II poll. The Lady Eagles are 10-0 on the season.

Marywood University sophomore Ryan Jones (Council Rock South) has been named to the Jewish Sports Review’s 2010 Men’s Soccer All-American Team, which was announced in the January/February issue of the Review. One of just 13 players from NCAA Divisions II and II to be named to the squad, Jones earned his second straight JSR All-America honor following an outstanding sophomore campaign. Jones helped lead the Pacers to a program-record 14 wins and their first-ever appearance in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship game. A First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight year, Jones helped anchor a stingy Pacers’ defense that posted a goals against average of 1.03 for the season and set a program record with 10 shutouts. Playing primarily as a central defender, Jones was also a key contributor to Marywood’s attack, ranking third on the team’s scoring chart with 17 points on two goals and a team-best 13 assists. Jones set a program record for assists in a season this year while finishing the season tied for sixth in the nation in helpers. After just two seasons in a Pacers’ uniform, Jones has already doubled the former career assists record, which the sophomore now holds with 18 career assists. In addition to his First Team All-Conference selection, Jones became the first Marywood men’s soccer player to earn NSCAA All-Region honors after being named to the Second Team and was also named an ECAC All-Star. Marywood finished the 2010 season with a 14-5-1 overall record and earned its first-ever berth into the ECAC South Region Tournament during its historic 2010 season.

IUP’s Dee Eppinger (North Penn) was named PSAC Central Player of the Week for the week ending April 4. She helped lead IUP to a 3-1 record with a doubleheader sweep of Clarion and a split with Lock Haven. She hit .538 (7-for-13) including a pair of doubles and two home runs, scored three runs and drove in six and had a 1.154 slugging percentage. In the opener against Clarion, Eppinger belted both of her doubles and followed that with a three-run home run in a 4-2 Crimson Hawk win. Eppinger also homered in the first game against Lock Haven. She is hitting .254 on the season with 12 runs scored, 18 RBIs, three home runs and has drawn 10 walks.

Millersville junior Zac Kohler (Pennridge) ended day one of the decathlon with the lead at Saturday's Millersville Metrics and never surrendered it as he took first place in the event on Sunday afternoon. Kohler dominated the competition with top five finishes in nine of the 10 events. He took first place in both the high jump and 1,500-meter run. In the high jump, he reached 1.93 meters then ran the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:46.62. Four second place finishes helped Kohler reach his final total of 6,049 points to take first in the competition. He is now ranked fifth all-time in Millersville history in the outdoor decathlon.
