BASEBALL
Senior John Burns (Neshaminy) hit a solo home run in Gwynedd Mercy’s 8-3 loss to Keystone on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 11-11 tie with Misericordia in a game that was called after the 10th inning because of darkness, Burns went 3-for-6 with a career-high four RBIs. He was a single shy of the cycle, finishing with a home run, triple and double. In last Sunday’s 19-8 loss to No. 14 Salisbury, David Blount (Harry S Truman) was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Josh Freed (Souderton) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in Cairn University’s 12-8 loss to Centenary last Sunday.

Tim Filer (Council Rock North) was 2-for-3 with a two-run double and three RBIs in Lebanon Valley’s come-from-behind 9-6 win over Alvernia on Friday. In Wednesday’s 12-4 win over Messiah, Filer was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored.

Brady West (North Penn) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored in Bloomsburg’s 11-7 win over Kutztown in game two of a twinbill sweep on Sunday. In Bloomsburg’s 7-6 win in game one, West was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. In Wednesday’s doubleheader split with Clarion, West singled in both games. Bryce Mengel (North Penn) started and worked three inning in Bloomsburg’s 15-6 win in game two, allowing two runs with a strikeout. Nick Donofry (Council Rock North) worked one inning in relief, striking out one.

Joseph Mullin (Central Bucks South) had a single and RBI in Chestnut Hill’s 12-5 win over Dominican College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s doubleheader split with Felician College, Patrick Campion (Norristown) recorded three hits (3-for-7) on the afternoon, including two singles in game one and a second-inning double in game two.

Ryan Henritzy (Council Rock North) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in Lock Haven’s 5-4 loss to West Chester on Saturday.

Junior rightfielder Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) was 2-for-5 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs scored in Moravian’s 24-11 win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday. Teammate Dan Seitzinger (Central Bucks West) was 1-for-2 with a run scored. In Saturday’s split with Merchant Marine, Hanson was 2-for-5 with one RBI while Seitzinger was 1-for-2.  In Tuesday’s 5-2 win over Drew, Hanson was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored.

Freshman Vince Careghini (Central Bucks East) singled, walked, stole a base and scored a run in No. 18 Shippensburg’s 4-0 win over Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Tuesday.

Brandon Martinez (North Penn) led the offense with four hits, including three doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored in Millersville’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Bloomsburg on Sunday. Ryan Clow (Central Bucks East) threw 1.1 scoreless innings in relief in Kutztown’s 7-6 loss in game one. In Wednesday’s 8-5 win over Mansfield, Martinez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs while teammate Clay Sebesky (Central Bucks East) was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Tyler Orr (Neshaminy) contributed a sacrifice fly to plate a run in Eastern University’s 4-2 loss to King’s College Saturday. In Thursday’s 13-8 loss to Wesley College, Andrew Check (Central Bucks West) singled and scored a run.

Junior rightfielder Ken McCormick (Pennsbury) was responsible for bringing in both of his team’s runs in Philadelphia University’s 2-1 win over University of the Sciences in game one of a twinbill Saturday. In the third inning, he reached base safely thanks to a two-out error that allowed a run to score. In the seventh, he delivered a sacrifice fly to plate the game winner. In Saturday’s 7-4 win in game two, McCormick had a single and RBI.

Tyler Coleman (Quakertown) was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored in West Chester’s 5-4 win over Lock Haven on Saturday. Coleman led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double to left and eventually scored the game winner. In Wednesday’s 7-6 loss to No. 20 Wilmington, Coleman singled and drove in a run.

Tom Kreiling (Neshaminy) was 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and two runs in Penn State Abington’s 8-8 tie with Arcadia on Tuesday in a game called because of darkness. Trey Guaglionona (Abington) had a hit and scored two runs.

Freshman shortstop Ryan Erskine (North Penn) was 2-for-3 with a run scored in Montgomery County Community College’s 13-3 loss to Northampton Community College.

Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) earned a complete game win in Elizabethtown’s 3-2 victory over Alvernia last Sunday. After allowing a pair of unearned runs in the second, Davis did not allow a run the rest of the way, striking out one and walking none while throwing his third straight complete game. He has not allowed an earned run over his last 20.1 innings.

Billy Fleming (Council Rock South) contributed a hit in West Virginia’s 9-2 loss to No. 18 Oklahoma State on Saturday in front of 2,143 fans. In Friday’s 6-0 loss to Oklahoma State, Fleming finished 3-for-4.

Jim Smith (North Penn) was 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in Saint Peter’s 8-7 win over Monmouth last Sunday. It was Smith’s first home run of the season.

Junior Craig Lepre (North Penn) contributed a single in Albany’s 3-2 win over UMass Lowell last Sunday.

Junior Zach Philippi (Harry S Truman) earned the win in relief in York’s 11-5 win over Franklin & Marshall on Thursday.  He did not allow a hit in 4.1 innings on the mound, walking one and fanning five.

Pete O’Hara (Council Rock North) had a pair of hits and finished the day with four hits and two stolen bases in Delaware Valley’s split with Misericordia on Saturday. In Del Val’s 12-2 loss in game one, O’Hara had a pair of hits. He also had a pair of hits, stole two bases and scored a run in Del Val’s 3-1 win in game two. Kyle Wenger (Souderton) singled and drove in a run, and Brandon Bell (Norristown) singled and scored. In Friday’s 5-1 loss to Misericordia, Bell hit his first collegiate home run. Wenger also had one of his team’s three hits in the loss.

Ryan Pater (Central Bucks East) contributed a bases-clearing double in St. Joe’s 17-1 rout of Fordham on Saturday. He finished the day with three RBIs and two runs scored. In Friday’s 13-1 win over Fordham, Pater was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Dylan Tice (Pennridge) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in IUP’s 13-9 loss to Pitt Johnstown in game one of a twinbill Saturday. In Saturday’s 9-2 loss in game one, Tice was 2-for-3. In Tuesday’s 5-3 loss to California (Pa.), Tice was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

MEN’S LACROSSE
Craig Hunsberger (Pennridge)
scored a goal and was credited with four ground balls in Elizabethtown’s 9-6 loss to Messiah on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 13-9 win over Lycoming, he was credited with a goal and an assist as well as two ground balls.

Eastern University junior Joe Palo (Hatboro-Horsham) was named Freedom Conference Player of the Week for the week ending April 6. The junior faceoff specialist won 20-of-28 face-offs at King’s and 13-of-15 against FDU-Florham. Palo also picked up 19 ground balls in the win. He has won 100-of-162 faceoffs this season (61.7 percent).
Palo won 8-of-13 faceoffs and was credited with five ground balls in Eastern’s 13-3 win over Arcadia on Saturday.

Senior faceoff specialist Shawn Caven (Pennsbury) was 10-for-16 on faceoffs in Ursinus College’s 10-9 loss to 18th-ranked York College last Sunday.

WOMEN’S GOLF
Middlebury College junior Jordan Glatt (Central Bucks East) tied for fourth place individually in a field of 67 golfers at the 10th Annual Vassar Women’s Golf Invitational Tournament. The tournament took place on April 12 and 13 at the Par 72 Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  Glatt led her team with scores of 79-79, and the Middlebury team came in fifth place out of the 12 teams participating.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Junior Caitlin Carrezola (Neshaminy) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers in Holy Family’s 11-10 upset of Georgian Court on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 20-2 win over Caldwell College, Carrezola had four ground balls and teammate Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) scored her first two goals of the season. She also had three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers on defense.

Sophomore Caroline Hagan (Hatboro-Horsham) was credited with four ground balls and three caused turnovers in St. Joe’s 11-7 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday. Teammate Brittany Hanrahan (North Penn) also had three caused turnovers.

Kaitlin Crouthamel (Souderton) recorded 14 saves in Millersville’s 13-10 loss to Kutztown on Wednesday. 

Junior Kelly Hamilton (Central Bucks South) connected for the hat trick in No. 8 Lock Haven’s 10-8 win over No. 13 Mercyhurst on Wednesday. Melinda Wojt (Souderton) led the defense with three caused turnovers. In Monday’s 20-5 win over Shepherd, Hamilton connected for the hat trick and also was credited with three ground balls. Teammate Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton) also had a hat trick and finished with four draw controls.

Lauren Purvis (Hatboro-Horsham) was credited with three ground balls and two caused turnovers in No. 8 Penn State’s 13-8 win over Cornell on Tuesday.

Sophomore Nicole Beck (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed a goal and two assists in Cal-Berkeley’s 13-12 win over Michigan on Saturday. In Thursday’s 11-10 win over Detroit, Beck took over the team lead in assists with her personal best five helpers on the day.

Sophomore goalie Ally Frymoyer (Upper Merion) had six saves and also had a pair of ground balls in Shippensburg’s 13-10 win over East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. The team’s “Stick it to Cancer” effort at Wednesday’s game had extra meaning for junior Garrie Grenfell (North Penn), whose mother, Betsy Lee Grenfell, passed away last summer from cancer. SU lacrosse played Wednesday’s game in honor of Betsy Lee, recognizing her before the game with a moment of silence. The team sold t-shirts and also collected donations for cancer research with half the proceeds given to the breast cancer organization Susan G Komen and the other half given to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). In last Sunday’s 12-11 loss at Gannon, Grenfell recorded the hat trick. Frymoyer had seven saves in net.

Madi Brunk (Cheltenham) handed out six assists in Messiah College’s 16-11 win over Widener on Tuesday, increasing her team-high total to 29 assists.
Amy Cross (Upper Dublin) had a pair of goals in No. 3 Syracuse’s 12-9 win over No. 1 North Carolina in front of 2,142 at the Carrier Dome on Saturday.  The victory was the Orange’s second ever against the nation’s top team and the first during the regular season.

Sophomore Brynn Dietzel (Central Bucks South) was credited with three ground balls in Ursinus College’s 17-8 loss to Gettysburg on Saturday.

Ashley Bossert (Wissahickon) contributed three goals and one assist in Bloomsburg’s 12-11 loss to Edinboro on Saturday. Aubrey Bossert (Wissahickon) added a pair of goals.

SOFTBALL
Binghamton freshman outfielder Bridget Hunt (Harry S Truman) was named the America East Softball Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 7. It marks the first time in her career she has earned the conference’s weekly accolade. Hunt hit a team-best .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles, a triple and a home run in leading Binghamton to a 5-0 week. She scored five times and recorded a .929 slugging percentage. Hunt had a double and a home run in the series against UMBC and hit safely in all five games. Hunt currently has a career-high six-game hitting streak. For the season, she is batting .317 with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs. “Bridget did a great job this past week,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “She has been working to make adjustments at the plate, and it has paid off for her. She finds a way to get on base and make things happen.” Hunt is one of three rookies who have become fulltime starters for the Bearcats.

Senior Rachael Alligood (Harry S Truman) allowed just two hits and one earned run in a complete game win in Holy Family’s 4-2 win over Wilmington on Thursday. The senior hurler improved to 6-2 on the season.
Sophomore Lauren Klepchick (Central Bucks South) continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI in Rhode Island’s 5-1 loss to Harvard on Thursday. Klepchick is 5-for-8 over her last three games and has hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games. She has reached base safely in 11 straight games.

Sophomore Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) was 1-for-3 in a 9-5 loss to Fordham on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s doubleheader split with Marist, Decker had a double and two RBIs in Lehigh’s 11-10 loss in game.

Junior Ashley Alden (William Tennent) doubled and scored a run in St. Joe’s 9-3 loss at Saint Louis Saturday. In Friday’s 6-0 win over Saint Louis, Alden delivered a three-run home run and finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. In Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Rider, Alden was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Gwynedd Mercy senior Stephanie Farrar (North Penn) was named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference honor roll for the week ending April 6. The North Penn grad batted .500 (7-for-14) with seven RBIs, five runs, two doubles, two triples and two stolen bases in four games. She totaled a .929 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. In game one with Cedar Crest, she was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs, a double and a triple. In game two, she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and a pair of stolen bases. In a 5-3 win over Centenary, her three-run triple keyed a four-run fifth to help GM take a DH sweep. She finished 2-for-4 with two runs. In 10 games this season, she has nine RBIs, nine runs, five triples and two doubles while batting .375.

Maria Spinosa (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-3 in Millersville’s 10-1 loss to Bloomsburg in game one of a twinbill Sunday. In Millersville’s 4-3 loss to Bloomsburg in game two, Heather Lutz (Hatboro-Horsham) smacked her league-leading 14th double. Danielle DiFilippo (Hatboro-Horsham) hit her second home run of the season, a solo shot over the fence in left field in the fourth inning. In Wednesday’s 13-3 loss to Bloomsburg, DiFilippo was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored.

Freshman Michelle Holweger (North Penn) had three hits in Lock Haven’s 4-1 win over No. 23 West Chester in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader sweep. In Lock Haven’s 7-6 win over Mansfield in game two of a twinbill on Wednesday, Holweger was the offensive story, finishing 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs. Holweger spotted Lock Haven a 3-0 lead in the top of the second with a three-run homer. Her two-run home run in the fourth highlighted a three-run inning for Lock Haven.
Farrar, MaryKate Ballerino (Hatboro-Horsham), and Nikki Canfield (Souderton) each had one hit in Gwynedd Mercy’s 12-3 loss to Neumann University Saturday. Farrar and Canfield each had one RBI.

Senior Mary Ward (North Penn) had a double and RBI in IUP’s 6-3 win over Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday. In Tuesday’s 9-5 loss to California (Pa.), Ward was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Lauren Creamer (Neshaminy) went 4-for-5 with a walk in Susquehanna's make-up doubleheader sweep of Scranton on Sunday. Three of her hits were home runs. Her grand slam made it an 8-0 game in the bottom of the fifth inning of the first game, bringing an early end to the game. She had a home run earlier in the game and finished a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBIs. She also had a home run in Susquehanna's 7-3 win in game two, finishing the day with eight RBIs. Morgan Lewis (Council Rock North) tossed all five innings of the 8-0 win, allowing just one hit while striking out seven to earn the win. On Saturday, Creamer collected a hit in both games of Susuqeuhanna’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Muhlenberg. In Thursday’s 7-0 win over Wilkes, Lewis threw all seven innings and allowed just four hits while striking out 13. In Wednesday’s 11-1 win over Lycoming in game one of a twinbill sweep, Creamer was 2-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored. In Susquehanna’s 5-2 win in game two, Lewis earned the win, allowing five hits and two runs in seven innings while walking five and striking out nine. Creamer was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Maggie Shaffer (Hatboro-Horsham) allowed just two hits and one run in seven strong innings but absorbed the loss in Guilford’s 1-0 loss to Shenandoah on Wednesday. The Hatboro grad walked just one and fanned five.

Val Sadowl (Hatboro-Horsham) had her team’s only two hits in Connecticut’s 9-1 loss to Louisville on Saturday. In Thursday’s 5-3 win over Fairfield, Sadowl hit a three-run home run. It was her fifth round tripper of the season. In Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Providence, freshman Dominique Pinto (Council Rock North) was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Jess Schuck (Council Rock South) was 2-for-3 and teammate Kim Begley (Abington) had a double in No. 23 West Chester’s 4-1 loss to Lock Haven in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday. In Saturday’s 2-0 win over Kutztown, Schuck was 2-for-3. In West Chester’s 3-1 win in game two of the sweep, Laura Altenburger (Neshaminy) had a pair of hits. In Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of Bowie State, senior outfielder Megan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham) stole four bases to become the all-time leader in thefts in Golden Rams history. Kelly, who set the West Chester record with 35 steals in 2013, has 77 stolen bases in her career, which is one better than the 76 amassed by Erin MacNamee who played from 2008-11. Kelly was 2-for-3 with a run scored in West Chester’s 6-0 win in game one. She also was 2-for-3 with an RBI in West Chester’s 9-0 win in five innings.

Freshman Brooke Labs (Pennridge) was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in Marywood’s 16-2 win over Cabrini in game one of a doubleheader sweep Saturday. In Marywood’s 10-2 win in game two, Labs was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. In Friday’s 7-5 win over Neumann, Labs was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In Tuesday’s 15-6 win over Immaculata in the nightcap of a twinbill, Labs was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBIs and one run.

Junior Julie Wambold (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-for-3, which included the game-tying two-run double, in Syracuse’s 5-2 win over Pittsburgh in game one of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. In Syracuse’s 11-4 win in game two, Wambold had two hits, including a double, one RBI and two runs scored. In Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of Binghamton, Wambold was 1-for-2 with a run scored in the Orange’s 8-0 win in game one. In last Sunday’s 8-6 loss to North Carolina State in game one of a twinbill, Wambold was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and one run scored.

Freshman Suzanne Swanicke (Pennsbury) hit a walk-off two-run home run in the fifth inning to bring an end to La Salle’s 8-0 win over George Mason in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. It was the first collegiate home run of Swanicke’s career.

Freshman Ally Horvath (Central Bucks South) improved to 3-0 on the season, earning the win in Widener’s 8-2 win over Stevenson in game two of a twinbill on Saturday. The freshman hurler went the distance, allowing two earned runs while walking none. Freshman Salina Allebach (Souderton) drove in two runs with a pinch single. On Thursday, Horvath tossed a one-hit shutout in Widener’s 1-0 win over Haverford. The freshman pitcher retired the first nine batters she faced before allowing a leadoff single in the fourth. She faced just one above the minimum, striking out one and walking none.

Kelly Hendrickson (William Tennent) was 2-for-3 and scored a run in Cairn University’s 8-7 loss to Penn State Hazleton on Tuesday.

Emily Wrenn (Hatboro-Horsham) went the distance and did not allow an earned run in Penn State Abington’s 8-2 win over St. Elizabeth in game two of a twinbill on Saturday. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Bianca Monterosso (Abington) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs while Danielle Jones (Harry S Truman) contributed a hit and scored two runs and Nicole Battaglio (Upper Merion) singled and scored a run. In the Nittany Lions’ 5-3 win in game one, Battaglio was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Jones had a hit and scored a run. In Friday’s 10-1 win over St. Elizabeth in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Wrenn earned the win, working five innings and allowing two hits while walking one and striking out five. Jones was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. In the Nittany Lions 10-2 win in game two. Monterosso was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jones scored a run and drove in a pair, and Batagglio had a hit. In Thursday’s 10-2 win over Rutgers-Camden, Wrenn threw five innings to earn the win, allowing five hits and one earned run while walking two and fanning one. Jones was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs score. Battaglio was 1-for-1 with an RBI and run scored.

Mollie Burrell (Souderton) was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored in Philadelphia University’s 6-2 win over Bloomfield in game one of a twinbill Saturday. In last Sunday’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Georgian Court, Burrell led the Philadelphia offense with a team-high four hits in five at-bats. She had two hits in each game.

MEN’S TENNIS
Senior Steven Ly (Bensalem) earned a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at fourth singles in Penn State Abington’s 5-4 loss to Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday. He also was part of the second doubles team that earned an 8-3 win.

Sophomore Peter Brzezinski (Hatboro-Horsham) was named the CSAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week as well as ECAC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending April 6 after picking up four wins last week. In a win over Baptist Bible, he scored a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles and an 8-4 win at number one doubles. He followed suit in a 5-4 win over Cabrini, winning 6-1, 6-2 at number one singles and 8-3 at number two doubles. He is 4-0 at both singles and doubles this season for the Griffins.
Brzezinski remained undefeated at number one singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win in Gwynedd’s 6-3 loss to defending conference champion Marywood on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 7-2 loss to Neumann, Brzezinski earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at number one singles.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
Penn State Abington freshman Taylor Zisholtz (Central Bucks East) was selected as the NEAC West Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 6. The freshman won two singles matches and split a pair of doubles matches. Against Eastern University, Zisholtz rallied after dropping set one to win the next two, 6-0, 6-4, to pick up the win. She then helped Abington open conference play with a historic 6-3 win over Penn State Berks, earning an 8-1 win at second doubles before winning third singles in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) to give the Nittany Lions their first win over Berks in program history.
Zisholtz earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at third doubles and was part of the second doubles team that won 8-0 in Penn State Abington’s 9-0 win over St. Elizabeth on Tuesday.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Gwynedd Mercy freshman Matt French (Bensalem) finished 10th in the 1500 meter run at the 36th Annual Messiah College Invitational.

Widener freshman Alex Cucciarre (Souderton) was third in the shot put with a throw of 49’10” at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Tyler Dougherty (Council Rock South) was part of St. Joe’s 4x100 relay that finished third with a time of 41.95 at the Rider Invitational Saturday.

Pitt junior Josh Mindlin (Council Rock North) was selected to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track and Field Team. To receive All-ACC Academic recognition, a student-athlete must earn a minimum 3.0 GPA in the most recent semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 during their academic career. Mindlin is a neuroscience major. The junior was a Big East Outdoor Championship qualifier, an ACC Indoor Championship qualifier and an ECAC/IC4A Championship qualifier. Mindlin set a lifetime best at the 2013 Big East Outdoor Championships in the 100m dash with a time of 10.75. He was also a member of the third place 4x100m relay team that posted a top time of 40.57 at the 2013 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships. Mindlin most recently compete in the 100-meter dash at the Panthers’ first ACC Indoor Championship.

Keith Parker-Washington (Upper Moreland) was part of Bloomsburg’s 4x100 relay team that finished first with a time of 41.94 at the Bison Invitational at Bucknell.  The team was the eighth best in ESU history. Parker-Washington also was part of the winning 4x400 relay that posted a time of 3:16.38 with the seventh best time in ESU history. The Upper Moreland grad finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.38.

Shippensburg sophomore Matthew Merritt (Upper Dublin) placed ninth with 5,377 points – a new PR by 486 points – in the decathlon at the Mondschein Multis hosted by Kutztown University on Friday. Merritt landed two PR throws on the second day. He began with a 110-meter hurdle time of 16.32 seconds a discus throw of 91 feet, 8 ¼ inches (27.96 meters). After clearing 11 feet, 7 inches (3.53 meters) in the pole vault, another PR, Merritt threw the javelin 124 feet, 3 inches (37.88 meters) and ran the 1,500 meters in 5:22.96.

Shippensburg sophomore Jalen Ramsey (Norristown) cleared the NCAA provisional-qualifying height of 6 feet 8 ¼ inches in the high jump at Bucknell University’s Bison Open on Saturday. Ramsey’s jump of 6’8 ¼” was good for second place overall in the meet.

James Wilson (Central Bucks South) was part of Bloomsburg’s fifth place 4x800 relay team that posted a time of 8:19.63.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Sophomore Zakiyyah Richardson (Pennsbury) was part of Gwynedd’s 4x100 relay  that cruised to victory with a time of 48.40 seconds at the 36th Annual Messiah Invitational on Saturday. The time bettered the previous program best of 48.89 seconds established in 2009. The performance ranks the Griffins among the top 15 teams in the country. Richardson captured first place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.34. At last Saturday’s Muhlenberg Invitational, Richardson was part of the 4x100 relay team that captured second place with an ECAC qualifying time of 49.08. Richardson finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.46.

Alexis Bell (Norristown) was part of East Stroudsburg’s 4x100 relay that finished fifth with a time of 48.03 at the Bison Invitational at Bucknell on Saturday. Kelley Anne Stuetz (Cheltenham) finished sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.34. The Cheltenham grad finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump (5-1 ¾).

Messiah College’s Victoria Hepp (Council Rock North) ran a personal best 20:34 in the 500m at the annual Messiah College Invitational Saturday.

Saint Joseph’s junior Kayla Charles (North Penn) finished second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.30 at the Rider Invitational on Saturday. 

Bloomsburg’s Alexis Rankin (Hatboro-Horsham) established a new PSAC qualifying mark in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.89 at the Bison Open on Sunday. Also improving her PSAC mark in the shot put was Taylor Harkins (North Penn) with a throw of 38’ 1 ¼”. On Saturday, Katie Dodds (Upper Dublin) posted a 36.48.63 in 10,000 meters to earn a spot in the upcoming championships. Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) posted a personal best time of 19:05.20 at 5000 meters.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO
Cal State Northridge senior Melissa Doll (Souderton) earned Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 6. Trailing 8-7 against No. 9 Hawaii, the Matadors appeared headed for defeat when Doll delivered a game-tying goal with two seconds to play in regulation. CSUN went on to win 9-8 in double overtime and preserved its unbeaten record (2-0) in Big West play. Doll played a key role throughout the match, scoring three goals to go along with three steals and an assist for the seventh-ranked Matadors. Doll’s other goals twice shaved the deficit to two at the end of the second and third quarters. CSUN is now 21-6 overall on the season.
