One of her pitching highlights came on April 3 when she defeated BIG EAST foe and local rival Pittsburgh by allowing one run in a victory, striking out five without allowing a walk. It is the first time in school history West Chester has reached the Super Regionals. Kelly’s grand slam, her second home run of the season, came in the top of the fifth with West Chester trailing 3-0. That is when Kelly worked the count full, fouled off another pitch before hitting a home run over the left field fence to give West Chester a 4-3 lead. From there, it was all Utterback, who limited Cal to just two hits while walking three and striking out eight. A three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth was the only mistake she made all afternoon. In Saturday’s 4-3 win over eighth-ranked California, Quense hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second to give West Chester a 3-2 lead. With a runner on second and none out in the seventh, Utterback entered the game and earned her second save of the season.
