WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Philadelphia University sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Pennridge) ran to her second straight ‘Runner of the Week’ honor, taking first overall in the Delaware Invitational (19:39) leading PhilaU to the title.
FIELD HOCKEY
Freshman Rebecca Chylack (Souderton) repeated as the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week. Chylack had two goals and an assist and recorded two defensive saves in two games for LaSalle last week.  The Souderton alum now leads the team with five goals and 13 points. She is among the Atlantic 10 leaders in both categories, ranking third in points and goals. Chylack assisted on LaSalle’s first goal on Friday in a 3-2 overtime loss to Bucknell and added a defensive save. On Sunday, she scored both LaSalle goals in a 4-2 loss to Lock Haven. She also had a defensive save. LaSalle is 3-6 on the season.
Senior Breanne Tobin (Pennridge) contributed an assist in Bloomsburg’s 3-0 win over Millersville on Saturday. On Tuesday, Tobin scored on a rebound of a goalie save in Bloomsburg’s 2-1 win over East Stroudsburg. Brittany Kocis (Central Bucks East) scored her fourth goal of the season for ESU. Last Saturday, Kocis scored a goal in East Stroudsburg’s 5-1 win over Mercyhurst.
Katie O’Donnell (Wissahickon) contributed a goal and two assists in the University of Maryland’s 4-1 win over third-ranked Wake Forrest on Saturday. The top-ranked Terrapins upped their record to 10-0 on the season.
Sophomore forward Nicole Nelson (Souderton) contributed an assist in Syracuse University’s 6-0 win over Columbia on Sunday. The sixth-ranked Orange improved to 9-1 on the season.
Sarah Hasson (Central Bucks South) scored a pair of goals in the University of Pennsylvania’s 4-1 win over Harvard on Saturday. The freshman midfielder earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 22. Hasson scored her first career goal to spark a valiant comeback by the Quakers, who trailed 2-0 but came back to knot the score 2-2 in their game against Cornell. Cornell went on to earn a 3-2 win.
FOOTBALL
Scott Brandish (Council Rock North) scored on a 14-yard run in West Chester’s 37-17 win over Kutztown on Saturday. Brandish finished the day with four runs for 22 yards.  Kutztown quarterback Kevin Morton (Abington) had a 30-yard touchdown pass in the loss. Morton finished the day 23-for-38 for 238 yards and one touchdown. Dominick Massey (Abington) had one reception for 27 yards for Kutztown. Steve Miller (Pennsbury) had a pair of receptions for 29 yards for West Chester. Defensively, David Cressman (Pennridge) had five solo tackles and four assists for Kutztown. West Chester’s Matt Colyar (Pennridge) had six solo tackles, Cordero Newkirk (Bensalem) had three solo tackles and two assists, Andrew Sheehan (North Penn) had two solo tackles while Troy Wasserleben (Upper Moreland) had one solo tackle and one assist and Miller,one tackle.
Sophomore Dylan Manni (Bensalem) caught a pair of passes for eight yards in Bloomsburg’s 28-14 win over CW Post on Saturday. Shaun Moore (North Penn) assisted on one tackle.
Sophomore linebacker Mike Bergey (Souderton) had seven tackles in his first career start in East Stroudsburg’s 37-0 win over Cheyney on Saturday. Junior outside linebacker Matt Freed led ESU’s defense with 12 tackles and a sack.
MEN’S SOCCER
Freshman goalie Andrew Foran (Council Rock) and teammate Clay Sale combined for six saves in Shippensburg’s 2-0 loss to the University of Charleston on Wednesday. Foran started the game and had four saves in the opening half.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Kelly Modes (Neshaminy) scored an unassisted goal in the first half of Bloomsburg’s 2-2 tie with Edinboro on Saturday. Earlier in the week, Modes scored both goals in Bloomsburg’s 2-1 victory over East Stroudsburg on Tuesday. Bloomsburg is 3-4-1 overall (3-2-1 in the PSAC).
Gayle Kuntzmann (Hatboro-Horsham) recorded her fourth and fifth goals of the season during a 56-second span early in the second half of Shippensburg’s 6-0 win over Seton Hall on Thursday. She assisted on a goal in Shippensburg’s 3-0 win over Mansfield on Tuesday.
Sophomore midfielder Devon Miniscalco (Council Rock South) scored a pair of goals in East Stroudsburg’s 6-0 win over Lock Haven on Saturday. Miniscalco has a team-high eight goals and two assists for 18 points.
MEN’S TENNIS
Bloomsburg’s Lee Wexler (Plymouth Whitemarsh) and Kyle Coliluori earned an 8-4 win in doubles play in Saturday’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regionals this weekend.
Sophomore Dan Lee (Abington) won his match in singles at last weekend’s Lions’ Tournament at The College of New Jersey.
Senior Carson Richter (Plymouth Whitemarsh) teamed with Julius Twyman to win number one doubles 8-4 in Chestnut Hill’s 6-3 win over West Chester on Saturday. It was the first win of the season for the Griffins.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Freshman Regina Doherty (William Tennent) and junior Sarah Doherty (William Tennent) turned in the best showing for Chestnut Hill in its 9-0 loss to Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday afternoon, falling 8-6 at number three doubles. Sarah Doherty earned Chestnut Hill’s lone point in singles play in Chestnut Hill’s 7-2 loss to Holy Family on Thursday, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win at fifth singles. She teamed with her sister, Regina Doherty, for an 8-4 win at number three doubles.  On Saturday, the Doherty sisters once again had the best showing on their team, falling 8-6 in number three doubles in Chestnut Hill’s 9-0 loss to West Chester.
Bloomsburg’s Katie Hasyn (North Penn) won 6-1 in the opening round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regionals at Bloomsburg this weekend.
Sophomore Liz Heisler (Wissahickon)  and Laura Habecker won 8-4 at number three doubles in Gettysburg’s 9-0 win over Messiah College on Saturday.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Junior Alyson Stark (Council Rock South) had 10 kills in East Stroudsburg’s 3-1 loss to West Chester on Saturday. She had seven kills to lead ESU to a 3-0 win over Kutztown on Friday night.
Jessyca Stoler (North Penn) had 23 assists in Arcadia’s 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown on Sunday. Arcadia is 6-6 overall.
Nicole Corrado (Souderton) contributed six kills while Katherine Tohanczyn (North Penn) contributed a block in Chestnut Hill’s 3-0 win over St. Joseph’s – Brooklyn on Thursday.
