Four Suburban One League representatives will be inducted into the D1 Coaches Association’s SE Region Wrestling Hall of Fame this Saturday night March 2, 5:30pm, prior to the start of the individual championship’s finals at Oxford Area H.S.  Two brothers from Pennridge, Matt & Scott Parker, will be inducted together for their outstanding performances as PIAA wrestlers, and for Scott his collegiate achievements are also noted.  The second duo, are Council Rock South’s former Head Coach Brad Silimperi and his long-time Assistant Coach Trap McCormack.  Both Sil and Trap were state champions on the mat but will be recognized here in D1 for their record-breaking performances as coaches of the premier wrestling program in District One.

Trap McCormack (Council Rock South H.S.) Coach:   Trap graduated in 1997 from Bald Eagle Nittany H.S. as a three-time state champion (2 at Sugar Valley, 1995 and 1996 and 1 at BEN 1997) with a 138-4 career record.  He also won four District 6 titles and three Regional championships.  Collegiately, at Lock Haven University, he was a 4x NCAA Qualifier, a 2x PSAC Champ and EWL Champ and graduated in 2002 with over 90 wins.  His previous honors include induction into the District 6 Hall of Fame (2006), the Pennsylvania Wrestling HOF (2014) and the West Branch Chapter of PA Sports HOF in 2019.  Trap was named the 2009 USA Wrestling Assistant Coach of the Year and the 2019 Pennsylvania Assistant Coach of the Year.  Trap has been the Assistant Coach at Council Rock South H.S. since 2002.  His teams have won seven District One Team Championships with 12 finals appearances (both D1 records).  Additionally, CRS has qualified 18x for the PIAA Team Championships (D1 record), winning 18 Suburban One League titles along the way.  CRS during his tenure has won 11 D1 titles, 6 Southeast Region titles (D1 record) and was the 2005 PIAA state champion.  Individually, he has coached 171 District Medalists (D1 record), 66 District Champions (District 1 record), 113 Southeastern PA Regional Medalists (D1 record), 36 Regional Champions (District 1 record), 47 PIAA State Medalists (D1 record) and 9 PIAA State Champions (D1 record).  Alongside Head Coach Brad Silimperi, CRS has had a career record of 314-102 from 2002 to 2023.  Trap has been teaching Health and Phys Ed for 22 years at CRS.  He has two children with his wife Erin, son Teague currently wrestles at Ursinus after graduating from CB West, and daughter Finley is a cheerleader for the Bucks.

Matt Parker (Pennridge H.S.-2017) Wrestler:  Matt was a three-time state medalist for the Pennridge Rams, finishing fifth in 2015, third in 2017 and was the 113-pound runner-up in 2016.  He finished his scholastic career with an overall record of 142-17 with four Sectional titles and three consecutive District One and SE Regional titles (2015/2016/2017).  Additionally, he medaled 3x at the Beast of the East, finishing third twice (2015 & 2016) and was the runner-up in 2014 at 106-pounds, and garnered bronze at the Powerade tournament in 2016.  Matt was also a King of the Mountain champ and 2x runner-up at Escape the Rock while wrestling in high school.  At Fargo, he was a 2x medalist in freestyle, finishing third in 2014 and was a runner-up in 2015.  Collegiately, Matt wrestled at Lehigh, and as a red-shirt freshman was 13-2 competing at 125-pounds unattached, winning three tournaments at Princeton, East Stroudsburg and Wilkes Opens, as well as wrestling at the Midlands tourney, earning him Lehigh’s Deferred Eligibility Wrestler of the Year Award in 2018.  Matt transferred to Penn State in 2019.  Matt joins his brother Scott in this year’s Hall of Fame class.  Matt is currently employed at PECO as a Gas Mechanic. Besides working, he enjoys spending time with his family and girlfriend making memories with them.

Scott Parker (Pennridge H.S.-2014) Wrestler:  Scott was the state runner-up in 2014 at 120-pounds as a senior for the Rams with a 44-2 record.  He finished fourth in 2012 and third in in 2013 in Hershey.  He was a 4x Sectional champion, notching two District and SE Regional titles while posting a 149-11 career record.  During his scholastic career, he was a three-time captain for Pennridge, he won the Beast of the East in 2014, and won multiple medals at the Beast, King of the Mountain, Powerade, Ironman and Reno.  Scott was a Fargo Freestyle champ in 2012.  Moving on to college, he graduated from Lehigh University in 2019 with a 61-21 record as a two-year captain wresting for the Mountain Hawks.  Wrestling at 133-pounds he was a two-time NCAA Division One All-American (8th in 2017 and 7th in 2018), qualifying three-times for the NCAA’s.  He captured two EIWA titles and was a three-time NWCA Academic All-American. In 2018, Scott won the Hammer Award as outstanding wrestler at Journeymen Collegiate Classic.  He most recently (2021-23) was an assistant coach at Drexel University, coaching 11 NCAA qualifiers, and is currently training wrestlers and helping out at a club.  Scott is employed by Ryan Homes as a Project Manager.

Brad Silimperi (Council Rock South H.S.) Coach:  Recently retired Head Coach Brad Silimperi, known as “Sil” in the wrestling community, has been a major contributor to District One wrestling over his 22-years at the helm of Council Rock South.  He was CR South’s first ever wrestling coach, building a dynasty while setting numerous District One and SE Regional records.  Brad has been instrumental carrying on Council Rock’s rich wrestling traditions, and building a new wrestling family and community with the Golden Hawks.  Brad finished his career in 2023 with a 314-102 record.  CR South won the 2005 PIAA AAA Individual State Championships, he was named the 2019 PIAA Coach of the Year and is a five-time D1 Coach of the Year.  Along the way, he his teams have won six D1 Team Championships, 17 Suburban One League titles, 11 D1 titles, six SE Region titles and have qualified for the PIAA Team Championships 17 times.  He has coached 223 Suburban One League Individual Medalists, 89 SOL League Champions, and 171 District One Medalists, 66 D1 Champions, 113 SE Regional Medalists, 36 SE Regional Champions, 47 PIAA State Medalists and 9 PIAA State Champions, all D1 records.  In 1997 Brad started the elite Apache Wrestling Club and continues to train the best-of-the best at Apache as the program’s Director/Head Coach.  Brad himself was a PIAA state champion in 1988 at 98-pounds with a career record of 131-9-1 at Nazareth H.S.  He was a three-time PIAA state finalist winning four Northeast Regional titles and was named both the D11 Outstanding Wrestler as a senior in 1990 and an NWCA All-American, after winning three D11 titles.  After graduation he went on to wrestle at the University of North Carolina before transferring in 1991 and graduating from Lock Haven University in 1995.  Brad was both a two-time NCAA Div. I qualifier and All-Academic All-American.  Brad has been teaching Social Studies at CRS since 1995 and teaches AP Psychology.  He is married to his wonderful wife Sheila and has two-daughters Krystle &andAshley, along with three grandsons.
