ABINGTON 21, CHELTENHAM 0
The Ghosts won by a three-touchdown advantage, but it was anyone’s game heading into the fourth quarter. Abington – thanks to a 12-yard TD run by Mike Brooks in the first quarter – took a 6-0 lead into the final quarter.
After a pair of Abington defensive stands in the fourth quarter, quarterback David Kretschman gave the Ghosts a big lift, running for 43 yards and then delivering a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Neely. Kretschman completed a pass to Daron Boone for the successful two-point conversion and a 14-0 Ghost lead.
For good measure, Neely intercepted a pass and took it in from 41 yards out for the 21-0 final after the successful extra point.
The game came to a premature end when – after a series of person fouls – the officials called the game with 1:26 remaining.
Kretschman accounted for 133 yards of offense – throwing for 92 yards and a touchdown. Brooks finished the game with 117 yards and a touchdown.
Cheltenham quarterback Brandon Mack threw for 165 yards in a game that saw the Panthers manage just 187 yards of total offense.
Abington closed out its season with a 6-5 record (4-3 SOL) while the Panthers were 6-6 (4-3 SOL).
