Spreads Holiday Cheer to Local Family

The Abington girls basketball team has a tradition of adopting a family in need for the holiday season.  For the past six years, the Lady Ghosts have collected food, gifts, and money for those in unfortunate situations at this time of year.

This year, the Lady Ghosts continued its tradition of helping an Abington family that incurred considerable medical expenses; the family was hosted at the December 19 Girls Basketball game against Episcopal Academy.

“Our objective is to make a quality basketball experience for our girls,” coach Dan Marsh said. “To be able to help a family in need is what it’s really all about.

“Big picture, we want to teach these kids life lessons. Winning and losing and all of that will help with life lessons, but ultimately, giving back and caring about each other and caring about other people is a bigger life lesson.”
