Marykate Bateman – La Salle University (Soccer)

Major:  Nursing

Final list of colleges:  La Salle, William & Mary, St. Joseph’s

Reasons for choosing La Salle:  “La Salle was the best fit for me, by far. I not only liked the atmosphere, but I loved the team and everything about it.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer?  “I’ve always wanted to play soccer in college. Coming into high school, with the support of my coaches, that’s when I decided I really wanted to shoot for a D-1 school.”

Coach says:  “Marykate Bateman is one of the most dynamic forwards that I have probably ever seen, especially in our league. I was a forward myself when I played high school and college soccer, and she just has the types of skills that you can’t teach someone. It’s just so intrinsic within her to go to goal, to want to score, to want to go around opponents. She has been a force to reckon with. She actually broke our scoring record at Hatboro-Horsham High School with 54 goals last fall.
“Not only is she a special kid when it comes to being an athlete but also as a person. She’s just a great individual.”
