National Conference Bergey’s Buick GMC Highlighted Player
Tammy Udowenko –
Senior at Bensalem High School
A four-year varsity player, Udowenko anchored the Owls’ defense. She also is a team captain.
Note from the coach:
“Tammy is one of the best defensive players in our conference,” coach Amanda Tu said. “Tammy’s ability to stop big players from scoring is amazing, and she has really stepped up as a leader.”
About Tammy:
Best memory playing field hockey:
“When we beat our rivals, Pennsbury, and when we would play hard against challenging teams, showing them we could do it!”
Part of the game I enjoy most:  “When we have to play a defensive game, and I save the ball from going in a lot.”

Continental Conference Bergey’s Buick GMC Highlighted Player
Anastasia Matz –
Senior at Pennridge High School

A two-year varsity player, the senior captain helped to anchor the Rams’ defense but showed her versatility by playing wherever she was needed.
Note from the coach:
“Not only is she able to play wherever needed, she is aggressive and has a ‘go get ‘em’ attitude that she often finds herself in a position to serve as a spark,” coach Nikki Thren said. “She leads by example and can get the team playing at a higher intensity level. She puts forth 110 percent regardless of the task at hand (game or practice) and often does not get the recognition she deserves. With her incredible attitude, huge heart and the ability to lead, Anastasia is an asset to the team.”
About Anastasia:
Best memory playing field hockey:
“Making the jayvee/varsity team as a freshman and getting to experience four years playing with new people. Also, being chosen to be a captain for the team.”
Part of game I enjoy most:  “The relationships I have made playing on this team. My team means so much to me, and I am so thankful to have gotten to meet some amazing people and play alongside everyone.”
My role model is:  “My family. They have taught me everything I know and are always there for me.”

American Conference Bergey’s Buick GMC Highlighted Player
Julia McKernan –
Senior at Upper Dublin High School
Dana Russell – Senior at Upper Dublin High School
Russell and McKernan shared goalie duties for the Flying Cardinals this season.
Note from the coach:
“Julia and Dana are a ‘dynamic duo’, and two very special people with amazing character,” coach Heather Boyer said. “Both are senior goalkeepers who have an extraordinary relationship with each other and an outlook on life that leaves me awe-inspired.  Usually, when you get players of the same age and position, there is a rivalry that develops between them and it can become too competitive.  With Dana and Julia, they have found a beautiful balance between working hard to push both themselves and each other to be better every day, and truly supporting one another on and off of the field. I have never witnessed such a genuine friendship between two competitors. They both are talented goalkeepers whose abilities compliment each other well but most importantly, they were true role models for their fellow teammates all season.
About Julia:
Best memory playing field hockey:
“Senior Day.”
Part of the game I enjoy most:  “The moment right before an opponent shoots and being completely confident I can save it.”
