Bergey’s Inc. National Conference Highlighted Player
Kendal Brasch
A three-year varsity player, the senior forward is a captain.
Note from the coach:.
“Kendal is one of three key returning players on the Panthers’ roster,” coach Kaitlyn Rauchut said. “As a leader, Kendal is not only invested in her own success but the success of others. Technically, she has great vision and execution on the field. Overall, she has an optimism and hustle that is just astounding. Lastly, Kendal’s greatest quality is she is coachable. She wants to get better day in and day out. I am amazed by the talent Kendal possesses and how much she had grown over the past three years.”
About Kendal:

“My favorite memory playing high school hockey was sophomore year when we played Garnet Valley in the playoffs.”

Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Shelby Landes - Souderton
The senior tri-captain has been an anchor in goal for the Indians for the past two years.
Note from the coach:
“Shelby stepped in to the starting goalie position last year after playing only jayvee her first two years,” coach Lauren Whiteside said. “Shelby worked VERY hard on her conditioning in the offseason and attended several camps/clinics in the spring and summer to fine tune her skills.  She is able to dive, quickly recover, bat balls away, use her hands and move with power and finesse in the cage.  She is very vocal in the backfield, and you can always hear her encouraging her teammates with positive words.  She is passionate and extremely coachable.  Shelby is always looking to learn and better herself; what more would a coach want!  Of our 13 games so far, Shelby has eight games with double-digit saves and 10 games with double-digit shots, seven of which have been 20+ shots.  She has impressive stats as well as a heart to match it.
“Shelby is truly a great person inside and out, and the girls have so much respect for her.  She was voted one of our tri-captains this year.  She is always smiling and simply happy to be playing - when it comes to game time, she is focused and ready.  I truly cannot say enough great things about Shelby as a player and teammate.  We are lucky to have her in the leadership role that she is and extremely lucky to have her in cage for us this year!”
About Shelby:
Best memory playing high school field hockey:
The best memory playing high school hockey would be any team bonding that we have had over the years: pool parties, pasta parties, Color Me Mine, etc. My team has been through so much together over the years and hanging out with them I feel like I am with family. My favorite team bonding though would be a pasta party held recently in which all we did was eat and play silly games like dip bong. Being able to be crazy and weird with this team is the best memory ever, and I know I have made lasting friendships through playing for Souderton.
Part of game I enjoy most:  When the ball enters the cage on the opposing side and to celebrate me, Aimee MacFarland, and Alyssa Jones run to each other in excitement and chest bump.
How did you get involved in field hockey? “Going into my seventh grade year, we were eating at my aunt’s house and somehow field hockey came into discussion. My mom suggested it first and then my cousin who played D1 at Drexel influenced me to play. She handed down most of the things that she used when she played, including her stick, and I remember feeling so cool that I played with a stick that someone as awesome as my cousin played with. I started out as a field player, playing right back, and then switched to goalkeeper my freshmen year of high school and I never looked back since.
My role model is:  “My mom would be my role model because she knows me more than anyone else does, she knows that I would love an opportunity even though I am too stubborn to see it myself. She is always on the sidelines cheering me on wherever the sport takes me, and I couldn’t ask for a better fan. Her endless love has taught me to love others as well, and I will always be grateful that God gave me someone as awesome as her for a mom.”
Music on iPod:  Lecrae, Family Force 5, Royal Tailor, and my favorite song “Ready, Set, Go” by Derek Minor
Favorite food:  Apples & Ice Cream
Favorite class:  AP Biology and also Anatomy and Physiology
Future plans:  “I want to either attend Eastern University or Messiah College, majoring in Nursing. In the future, after my basic education, I want to specialize in Pediatric Oncology.”
If you could invite four people – dead or alive – to a dinner party, who would they be?  Amelia Earhart, Abraham Lincoln, Theo James, and Robin Williams.

Bergey’s Inc. American Conference Highlighted Player
Kaitlyn Lutz – Upper Merion
The senior co-captain is a four-year varsity player.
Note from the coach:
“Kaitlyn is an integral part of the team both on and off the field,” coach Angie Yanocha said. “She is one of our co-captains this year, and she leads by example. In all of my years coaching, Kaitlyn is certainly one of the most determined and hardest working players I’ve ever coached. There is nothing less than 100 percent effort form Kaitlyn at all times – whether it be during practice or a game.
“She has always had a strong desire to do well in the sport, and she’s put in the time, always working to improve. She plays club field hockey through the winter, participates in summer leagues and will definitely play whenever there is a chance. She’s worked so hard for four years and hopefully all the hard work pays off as she enters the world of collegiate hockey. She is still working out where that will be, but whatever team Kaitlyn ends up with will also see the hard work, determination and dedication she has to give to the sport and the program.”
About Kaitlyn:
Best memory playing field hockey:
“During my sophomore year, we went to playoffs and played the fifth seed. We didn’t win, but I thought that was probably the most exciting moment because every single one of us worked hard to get there, and there was an extreme sense of unity and confidence between our team.”
Part of the game I enjoy most:  “When you make a great defensive save and the fans and teammates on the sidelines go crazy. One thing that motivates me to play is when people are screaming at me/for me.”
How did you get involved in hockey?  “At three years old, I was the little monster on the field with the 18-iinch hockey stick. My sister played, and typically, I wanted to be just like her. It all played out from there.”
My role model is:  “My sister Kristen is my role model. From her accomplishments in hockey to racing, running or just life perspective in general, she has taught me so much.  I strive to take after her hard work ethic, perseverance and determination to be a great hockey player/athlete every day.”
Music on iPod:  “Everything! But mostly country and motivational workout music. My favorite motivational songs are ‘That’s the Only Way I know’ by Jason Aldean and ‘Stronger’ by Kanye West.”
Favorite food:  Thanksgiving food, but especially pumpkin pie.
Favorite class:  “English class; I love to write and I love creativity!”
Future plans:  “I plan to go to college to study sports medicine and music.”
If you could invite four people – dead or alive – to a dinner party, who would they be?  “I would invite Dylan O’Brien, Joseph Morgan, Rob Kerkovitch and Matt Kenseth because they all have an amazing sense of humor and are extremely talented at what they do.”
