Bergey’s Inc. National Conference Highlighted Player
Michaela Pacheco – Harry S. Truman
A three-year starter, the Titans’ junior center midfielder is a key at both ends of the field. She is the Tigers’ top goal scorer. In the spring, she is a member of the softball team.
Note from the coach:.
“Michaela is driven,” coach Kayla Kowalick said. “She really gets upset when she doesn’t do well or when things don’t go her way on the field, and she does show her emotions on the field, which is okay because you can’t teach heart, and she has a heart you can’t teach. She’s also a leader, but she does it quietly. She’s our leading goal scorer. She wants to score, and she’ll try to get up the field any way she can. She’s an honors student, and she plays softball in the spring. She’s just an all-around student.”

Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Maggie Walsh – Central Bucks South
Last year, Walsh played in the midfield but willingly moved to the backfield where she helps anchor the defense at left back.
Note from the coach:
“Maggie is just an overall awesome person,” coach Brittany Grzywacz said. “She’s got a great heart and is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She’s someone who helps the freshmen and makes everybody feel really welcome. She’s always the first one to volunteer to go pick up the balls. On the field, she’s a great player. She really has the vision, and she’s a great defender. In the past, she’s been playing midfield, and just her being able to adjust and do what I’ve asked her to do, honestly, it’s like there wasn’t even a hiccough in there at all for her. Just having her be able to do that for me is awesome. I can’t say enough good things about the girl’s attitude and how good of a heart she has.”
About Maggie:
Best memory playing field hockey:
“Last year, my junior year, I played with exceptionally skilled teammates as well as passionate coaches. Each player obtained hockey intelligence as well as quick stick skills. Playing on the team with those players helped me develop and grow into the player I am today.”
Part of the game I enjoy most:  “The beginning of the second half. The pre-game nerves are gone, and whether we are winning or losing, it is reassuring to know that we have 30 more minutes to play to our best potential and to hopefully come out with a win.”
How did you get involved in hockey?  “In kindergarten, I began playing in my township league, WWAA. I love the game the same way I loved it at five years old. I am still involved with WWAA as a coach and volunteer referee. I hope to help young girls love the sport the same way I did and still do.”
My role model is:  “My mom, Colleen Walsh. She is my cheerleader, my ultimate support system. She reminds me that through faith and hard work, anything is possible.”
Music on iPod:  “My music ranges from rap to country to Josh Groban. I enjoy different genres of music depending on how I am feeling or how I want to feel. However, my favorite music to listen to on my iPod is the songs sung by my father. My dad passed away five years ago from brain cancer. He was a very talented singer and recorded two CDs before he died. His CDs keep his spirit alive in my heart.”
Favorite food: Philly Cheesesteak
Favorite class:  Anatomy
Future plans:  “I plan on majoring in nursing. I want to help people and see that I am making a difference in people’s lives.”
Four people – dead or alive – I’d invite to a dinner party:  “I would ask Simon Cowell to come to my dinner party. Growing up, American Idol, was my family’s favorite TV show. I admired Simon for his brutally honest comments as well as his charming ways. Additionally, I believe that Betty White would make a great dinner guest. Her sweet and fun personality is evident in her character role as “Gammy” in the movie The Proposal. Another fun guest would be Ellen DeGeneres. Although I am not a ritual viewer of her show, I do watch and read about her when I get the chance. And finally, last but certainly not least, I would ask my deceased father, Matthew Walsh, to come to my dinner party. Although he is not technically a celebrity, he is and will forever be famous in my eyes. I also know that my dad admired all three of the celebrities mentioned above, and he would make a wonderful addition to the dinner table.”
