John Roberts – Sophomore at North Penn High School
A six-year member of the program, the sophomore goalie recently completed a standout season for the Knights. Roberts, who alternated with teammate Jake Snyder, was 5-1-1 with a 3.29 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. It was the 38-save effort of Roberts that propelled the Knights to a 4-3 win over Pennsbury in a Flyers Cup quarterfinal contest that saw the Falcons hold a 41-32 advantage in shots. The North Penn sophomore also plays for the Valley Forge Minutemen.

Note from the coach:
“Johnny is more athletic, and he’s more agile in the perspective that he’s able to kind of bounce around for a rebound or a quick play in front,” coach Kevin Vaitis said. “Even though he’s a smaller goalie, he covers a lot more of the net with his ability to move side to side. Johnny does excellent job of playing the puck, so anytime I see him dump the puck out of the zone or anything like that – there are times when Johnny can quickly get the puck and get it back up ice.
“Jake and Johnny are both great kids. They’re very competitive. Johnny is a little bit more outspoken, but there are not many people as competitive as he is, which is always nice to see. With goalies, you have one of two types. You have the ones that are very quiet, they play their position, they show up, and they do their jobs. That’s Jake Snyder, and he does it very well. There’s the other type, and that’s Johnny. You never know what you’re going to get from a personality standpoint when he shows up, but that makes it enjoyable to coach the two of them.”
