Bergey's Inc. SOL SHSHL Player of Week: Alex Politsky

Bergey’s Inc.
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Alex Politsky – Senior at Souderton Area High School
Through 10 games, Politsky leads the Continental Conference with 23 goals and 10 assists (33 points). The senior captain also excels in the classroom where he boasts a 3.5 grade point average. He will be attending Penn State University next year.

Note from the coach:
“Alex is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet in your life,” coach Matt Montagna said. “He’s just a nice guy to have around on the hockey team and in the school. As a hockey player, he never stops. He’s very focused on the task, and he’s a good teammate. Over the last three years, he’s matured and really grown up, and you see it all come together this year.
“He’s dominating (on the ice), and he just does it with a smile. He’s not talking to people out there. He’s just doing what he does. He’s our captain, and he’s an example kind of guy. Alex isn’t the loudest guy, but this year that’s coming out a little more. He’s taken on a leadership role. He was chosen as the captain this year – with 14 seniors, I thought less talking and more doing was probably the most appropriate avenue for our team.
“Alex is one of our high fliers. He takes AP courses, and he’ll end up exactly where he wants to go. In high school hockey, you get whoever lives within the lines, and I feel very blessed with this group. They’ve come a long way together.”
