Bergey's Inc. SOL SHSHL Player of the Week: August Dous

Bergey’s Buick GMC
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Buick GMC. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

August Dous has been with the Pennsbury program since he was a freshman. The junior goalie, who splits time between the pipes, earned the Falcons’ biggest win of the season, turning away 24 of 25 shots he faced in a 4-1 upset of conference-leading Council Rock South on Jan. 20. An excellent student, Dous – who enjoys math and science – boasts a 3.5 grade point average.

Note from the coach:
“He’s an all-around good kid,” coach Joe Deery said. “He’s very competitive, always wants to win, and he wants the spotlight on him at the end of the game.
“In the locker room, he’s one of the guys that stands up and really gets the team motivated to play. He’s not shy to speak his mind to get the guys up and going, and he’ll tell them when they’re not playing well. He keeps the defense alert on what’s happening coming back, and he’s focused. He’s always focused on the puck, he’s always squared to the puck, and he rarely gets beat down low. He keeps his concentration. He’s going to be one of our top leaders next year as a senior.
