Bergey's Inc. SOL SHSHL Player of the Week: Jake Sieger

Bergey’s Inc.
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Jake Sieger– Senior, Pennsbury High School
Sieger has played ice hockey for Pennsbury Ice Hockey Club for seven years and is a four-year member of the varsity. A captain, he plays center and has been one of the team’s leading offensive players for the past five years. In 13 games, this season he has 11 goals and eight assists (19 points).

Note from the coach:
“Jake is a really skilled player – it’s clear to see the second you see him play,” coach Ryan Daley said. “He has a great set of hands, he’s fast, and he has a good shot. His technical skill is really great, and he has good hockey sense as well. He’s just all around a solid player.
“Jake didn’t have a (captain’s) letter last year, and he made huge improvements in his leadership in the eyes of myself, the other coaches and his fellow teammates. He’s kind of a hybrid – he leads on the ice (by example) and he knows when to speak up. He’s been a good leader. I think he turned over a new leaf knowing it’s his last year to be in that position, and he embraced it.”
