Bergey's Inc. SOL SHSHL Player of the Week: Joe Anton

Bergey’s Buick GMC
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Buick GMC. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Joe Anton has been with the Central Bucks West program since he was a freshman. A contributor on both ends of the ice, the senior center leads the Bucks with 19 assists and also has scored seven goals for a total of 26 points, which is third on the team.  Off the ice Anton, is an excellent student.

Note from the coach:
“Anton is on our first line and is playing with the top line in the league, but he’s that kid that always seems to get overlooked,” coach Dave Baun said. “He’s a good kid, he’s dedicated, and he’s very reliable. I don’t think he’s ever missed a game in the time that he’s been playing for us, and he’s quietly been a huge contributor.
“He’s a great defensive player. He’s our first line penalty kill, he’s right around 70 percent on face-offs, so seven out of 10 times he wins the face-off. He’s got two-and-half times more assists than goals. He’s a great defensive center. I can’t ask any more of a guy than to do those things.”
