Bergey's Inc. SOL SHSHL Player of the Week: Mark Tosti

Bergey’s Buick GMC
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Buick GMC. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Mark Tosti is the senior captain of Council Rock North. A four-year veteran of the program, the left wing is the Indians’ leader in points with three goals and two assists in three games played. He also plays AAA hockey with the Valley Forge Minutemen.

Note from the coach:
“I named Mark the captain, but it was generally the consensus of his teammates who voted for him to be the captain of team, and I think that’s a testament to his leadership qualities and the high regard they held him in,” coach Chris Gallagher said. “He leads by example on the ice. He’s not a very vocal kid, but you can tell that he really has a passion for hockey. He loves the game, and I think that type of enthusiasm is infectious for his teammates.
“On the ice, he has very good hands, he’s very quick, and he has a fairly accurate shot. Those are his three qualities that stand out most. He’s a good kid. He’s respectful. One of the best things about this group is they’re very positive and very supportive of each other, and Mark is a positive kid.”

About Mark:
Best memory playing high school hockey:
My best memory playing ice hockey was when I was a part of the Mercer Chiefs bantam major team when we were in districts and so close to advancing to nationals.
Part of the game I enjoy most: My favorite part of the game is scoring a goal. Scoring gives me the best feeling on the ice, and it’s a feeling that cannot be beaten.
How did you get involved in hockey? I got involved in hockey when my dad took me to my first Flyers game when I was about six or seven years old.
My role models are:  100 percent my parents. I owe everything to them with all the traveling they have done for me and all of the time they put into my success.
Music on iPod:  I have various playlists on my phone. I’m not gonna lie – Justin Bieber may be in that mix as well as some Drake and Meek Mill.
Favorite food:  My favorite food is a nice dish of pasta with a side of grilled chicken and red sauce. No one makes it better than my mom.
Favorite class:  My favorite class of the day is gym. It’s a break in the day to get all of my energy out and have fun with my classmates.
Future plans:  My future plans are to play junior hockey next year in the NAHL or USHL and then after that attend a four-year college and play hockey.
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party:  Donald J. Trump, Frank Sinatra, Ice Cube, and Jonah Hill.
