Bergey’s Inc.
SOL SHSHL Player of the Week

This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.

Dominic Bova – Senior at Central Bucks South High School
The senior captain has been a four-year starter and is the team’s top scorer with 21 goals and 14 assists (35 points). The Titans’ right wing has been part of the dangerous line that has been together for four years and also includes Jake Bauer and Kevin Casey.  An excellent student, Bova will be attending Temple University.

Note from the coach:
“Just the way he carries himself as a person says everything about Dom Bova and says everything about his family, his parents,” coach Tom Coyne said. “The way he goes about business – he never misses a practice, he holds guys accountable. He’s not a guy of many words, but he just leads by example.
“On the ice, he’s kind of the whole package. He’s tough, he’s smart, he can finish, he can hit. It’s kind of built from his freshman year. There are certain kids you just admire from day one. You notice good things about them – how they work, how they learn, how they listen. Each year he was just one step higher on the ladder to a unanimous vote by the team to be a captain of the team. He’s thought of that highly.”

About Dominic:
Best memory playing high school hockey:
During the regular season game versus CB East, we were down 2-1 in the third period, and I scored two breakaway goals to come back and win the game 3-2.
Part of the game I enjoy most:  Right before a big game when coach comes in and gives his pregame speech. Following that – running out on the ice and playing in front of my classmates in the crazy crowd.
How did you get involved in ice hockey? When I was three years old, I put ice skates on for the first time and haven’t taken them off since then. Not to mention my family and I are big hockey fans.
My role models are:  My dad, who always has always been there for me from the beginning. Coach Coyne and coach Shawn – they showed me the ropes in becoming the person and player I am today.
Music on iPod:  Rap music
Favorite food:  Pizza/pasta!
Favorite class:  Social Studies
Future plans:  Attend Temple University, studying business and accounting
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party:  Zac Rinaldo, Simon Gange, Al Capone, Sylvester Stallone
