CB East Lax Falls in District Third Place Game

Thursday’s third place game started out on a promising note for the Patriots, who opened up a 3-1 lead after one quarter, but the tide turned in the second quarter. The Red Raiders won face-offs and scored several man-down goals to go into halftime with a 6-4 lead.
Things didn’t improve in a third quarter that saw the Red Raiders go on a 5-1 tear as they outscored the Patriots 10-2 in the middle two quarters to go on top 11-5 on their way to the win.
For the Patriots, Ryan Brown finished with a hat trick, and Matt Vetter had two goals and two assists. Owen Griffin added a pair of goals.
Ryan Brown led East with six ground balls while Dustin Buchanan sparked the defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Griffin had four ground balls, and Jack Auteri had three. Adding two ground balls each were Mike Eveland, Matt Krumanacker and Nick Yerkes. Vetter, Logan Nelson and David Gressgott each had one ground ball. Eveland, Yerkes and Krumanacker each had one forced turnover.
Central Bucks East will go into next week’s state tournament as the fourth seed from District One. The Patriots will face District 11 champion Emmaus in an opening round game. The fifth-seeded Green Hornets defeated second-seeded Southern Lehigh 9-8 in triple overtime.
In Thursday’s district title game, Springfield-Delco defeated Conestoga 7-5. Bishop Shanahan earned the fifth and final state berth with a 10-5 win over Garnet Valley.
