On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, Pennsbury senior JJ Denman was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play football at Rutgers University.

J.J. Denman – Rutgers University (Football)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of schools:  Rutgers, Wisconsin

Reasons for choosing Rutgers:  “Rutgers was always in the running because I’ve been going there for year for games. We had season tickets and I had been going there through elementary and middle school, so I already had a sense of being there. After all the stability issues at some of the other schools, Rutgers was always solid, so I took a visit. I really liked it, and I felt it was the best place for me.

“One thing I would tell other kids is that coaches will always change, but just go where you feel most comfortable.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate football? “I’ve always wanted to play in college, and back in seventh grade, I realized maybe I could do it.”

Coach Galen Snyder says:  “He played with the varsity a little bit as a freshman, and he was a three-year starter for us.  He’s a prototypical offensive lineman – big, strong and has good feet. He’s a good athlete, so he brings all those things to the table. He was first team all-league three straight years. He played multiple positions.”
