Let's Recognize Achievement: Girls Soccer

Let’s Recognize Achievement: GIRLS SOCCER!

By Paul Eisold

I am a parent, teacher and coach in the Central Bucks School District. I am also a product of Central Bucks, growing up and attending school in this community and eventually choosing to raise my own family right here.

I would like to bring attention to an incredible “hot bed” of talent in our area. For three consecutive years, the Central Bucks family has led a team to the PIAA Class AAA (AAAA current) girls state soccer final. CB West went all the way, winning the title in 2014.  Last year, CB East was the state runner up. This year, CB South girls played in the championship game on Saturday. Side note: CB East boys’ soccer team won the State championship last year, remaining undefeated throughout the season! WOW, does it get any better?

Girls soccer has taken our area to the next level in terms of sports. A credit to the parents, middle school coaches, club/travel coaches and high school coaches! Many of these fine athletes also play and letter in other sports, such as girls basketball, softball, just to name a few.  How does this happen in such a large school district that has split its athletes and students into three high schools? An amazing accomplishment!

Soccer has put Central Bucks on the map, and all of our players, whether, past, present or future deserve our KUDOS! What great young role models these girls are, demonstrating not only grit, but desire, stamina, and an unsurpassed work ethic - all which leads to success on the field!

Many of our players have moved on to colleges and universities and continue to participate in a team sport. They participate not only because they love the competition but because they simply love the game. Our athletes have been given countless opportunities to attend wonderful schools such as the University of Pennsylvania, St. Joseph’s, Colgate and others too numerous to mention.

Many people, even ardent fans, may not realize how challenging this journey is for our young women.  Some community members may be unaware of the great talent we have right here in Central Bucks. Whenever I am interviewed by the local papers or by Suburban One Sports, I always thank the interviewer for covering girls’ soccer! GIRLS, YOU HAVE ARRIVED. Congratulations!
