National Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Kaijah Willis – Harry S Truman High School

The senior forward was sidelined the majority of her junior season with a concussion sustained in a game in late December. Willis was cleared to play on May 15, 2013, and worked all summer to prepare for her final high school season. Shortly before tryouts, Willis suffered a torn meniscus and underwent surgery. She returned to the court in January.

Note from the coach:
“She missed almost all of last season and the first part of this season with two different injuries,” coach Collette Munford said. “She worked so hard in therapy to get back on the court to play this year, and she did it. We needed her for rebounding. She’s good on the boards, and we needed that because we didn’t have that. Even though she couldn’t do anything, she was at every practice. They allowed her to do her therapy at school, so she would do her therapy and then come to practice. She was like, ‘I’ve got to get back on this court, I’ve got to get back on this court,’ and she did it.”
About Kaijah:
Best memory playing basketball: My best memory would have to be my first year I started playing at the high school level. It was the start of a more experienced level. I had to work harder in order to play because there were always others coming to try to take a spot I had.
Part of the game I enjoy most: The part of the game I enjoy most is defense. Defense creates offense. In all cases, it would be good defense that wins the games, being aggressive just so you can win or get possession of the ball.
My role model is:  My coach Collette Munford and my uncle. They taught me everything I know about basketball. They love to see their players applying what they learned in practice or just from what they saw someone else learn in a game. I’ve come to love the game more and more each day. They want their players to give 110 percent every game, and they love the game just as much as I do.
Music that gets me pumped before games: Anything that can motivate me to get ready for the game. If I get hyped before the game, I know I will be playing like my life depended on it. I could be in my own world, and I know I will have a good game.
Favorite food: Pizza. I like to try all new toppings, but I love plain and pepperoni the most. After a good game and win, I could get some pizza and know I deserved it.
Favorite TV show:  Bad Girls Club It shows me something that I will not want to strive to be like at all.
Chocolate or vanilla:  Vanilla all day! I’m not a big fan of chocolate.

National Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Katie Budny – Council Rock North High School

Budny was the lone senior on Rock North’s roster. A captain, the senior guard was not only a positive leader, her play was defined by her hustle on the court.

Note from the coach:
“Katie is a great leader,” coach Lou Palkovics said. “She singlehandedly willed us to win the game at Pennsbury. She left everything on the floor that night and was the main reason we won.
About Katie:
Best memory playing basketball:  Nationals in Florida with my AAU team.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Playing with my teammates.
My role models are:  My parents.
Music that gets me pumped before games: Rap
Favorite food: Mac ‘N Cheese
Favorite TV show:  Shameless
Chocolate or vanilla:  Chocolate

Continental Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Ashlee Ruzicka – Senior at Quakertown High School

A four-year varsity player, the senior forward anchored an inexperienced Panther squad. Ruzicka led the team in both scoring and rebounding and plans to continue her career at the collegiate level.
Note from the coach:
“Ashlee walks onto the court like there is no record – she just goes out there and plays hard no matter what the score is,” coach Brittany Remmey said. “For young kids to see an upperclassmen go out there and keep fighting hard, that motivates them to do the same.
“She was definitely a presence in the paint. She has some nice post moves and was a very good foul shooter. Rebounding is definitely a knack for her on offense and defense. She has good size, and she brings energy to the court.”
About Ashlee:
Best memory playing basketball:
Out of all my years playing basketball, the memory that sticks out in my mind the most is when my coach pulled me aside at the beginning of my freshman year to let me know I would be starting varsity. This moment is important to me because it is when I realized that all of my hard work was recognized, despite being an underclassman.
Part of the game I enjoy most:  I enjoy the defensive part of the game most because although your offense may have an off night, you can always make a difference on the defensive end.
My role models are: My parents.
Music that gets me pumped before games: Hip hop/Rap
Favorite food:  Buffalo Wings
Favorite TV show:  Criminal Minds
Chocolate or vanilla:  Chocolate
