American Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Monet McGorda – Senior at Cheltenham High School

The senior captain is a three-year starter for the Lady Panthers. A guard, she can handle the ball and bury her shots, and she also is asked to defend the opposing team’s top scorer.
Note from the coach:
“Monet is the most unselfish player I have coached,” coach Brendan Nolan said. “Since her sophomore year, she has led by example: always being there, always on time, always putting out maximum effort.  During her sophomore and junior years, she was our ultimate glue girl.  She would take on any role that was asked and did it to the best of her ability.  At times she was in over her head, but we both knew that the experience would pay off. Has it ever!
“As a senior and tri-captain, she now excels at the roles she is asked to perform.  She will guard the opponent’s top scorer, she is a reliable ball handler and her shooting percentages are higher than ever and climbing.  She has become a solid free throw shooter, making clutch free throws in several key games this season.   Monet is getting interest from Division 2 and 3 schools.  Monet is everything both on and off the court that a coach could want.  There will be a huge void to be filled next year when Monet graduates.  She will be missed!”

Alissa Klammer – Senior at Upper Dublin High School

The senior captain stepped into a starting role at guard this season. She not only leads the Flying Cardinals in assists but also is asked to defend the opposing team’s top player.
Note from the coach:
“I am a big believer in multi-sport athletes, and every player on our team except one plays multiple sports,” coach Morgan Funsten said. “Playing other sports helps to develop skills, keeps you from getting burned out, and most importantly, teaches you how to compete. You can also use one sport to gain confidence in yourself as an athlete and have it carry over to another sport.  I think that Alissa is a perfect example of all those positive things that can happen to multi-sport athletes.  She came off of a great soccer season this past year where she earned all-league honors. The confidence she gained during her soccer season is immeasurable.
“Alissa has been a four-year member of the program and was voted as one of our two captains by her teammates. She earned a chance to start this year and has taken full advantage of the opportunity. She has been a major reason for the success of the team.  She is second on the team in assists and has consistently been asked to guard the best player on the other team. Alissa's best qualities are her intensity and willingness to do whatever the team needs to win.  We will miss her leadership by example and passion next year.”
About Alissa:
Best memory playing basketball:When our fan section started doing the Harlem Shake during our playoff game against Abington last year.

Nekola Hill – Senior at Upper Merion High School

The senior reserve has been a positive leader on and off the court for the Vikings.
Note from the coach:
“Nekola has been a member of the Lady Vikings for the entirety of her high school experience,” coach Tom Schurtz said. “Growing into a team leader in this her senior season, ‘Kola is able to communicate with her teammates, raise the level of play during practice, and uses her smile to always change the mood for the better.  A diligent student and hard worker in both the classroom and the basketball court, ‘Kola leads through example.  In her four years her at Upper Merion, I have never heard her utter a negative comment.  She is positive, energetic, and without a doubt, a valuable member of this team and a great young lady.”
About Nekola:

When our team went to Maryland my freshman year…the funniest part was when we had a teammate accidentally flush the van keys down the toilet. Coach was not amused.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Having a strong bond with my team and knowing that we are teammates both on and off the court.
My role model is:  My Mother because she has always been there, and she’s one of the strongest women I know.
