Highlighting…SOL Girls’ Basketball Players

This recognition is sponsored by Millennium Administrators. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches.

National Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Alyssa Christiansen – Senior at William Tennent High School

A senior guard, Christiansen is a blue collar player who can be counted on to do the thankless tasks that don’t always show up in box scores.
Note from the coach:
“We affectionately call her ace – we don’t even refer to her as Alyssa,” coach Paul Veltre said. “Ace is a quiet, sweet young kid. She does not use a whole lot of words, and yet, when she plays, she does everything we need. She rebounds the ball despite her size. She reacts very well. She anticipates.
“She’s a joy to coach. We wish that we could multiply her skills among other players. She has a natural, innate ability to react and anticipate that we just love.”
About Alyssa:
Best memory playing basketball:When we beat Council Rock North my junior year
Part of the game I enjoy most: I enjoy playing defense, but I like getting offensive rebounds
My role models are: My brothers
Music that gets me pumped before games: Rap
Favorite food: Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak
Favorite TV Show:  Red Band Society
Four people I'd invite to a dinner party: Eric Church, Abby Wambach, Channing Tatum, Taylor Swift

Continental Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Shelby Schoonover – Senior at Pennridge High School

A senior captain, Schoonover has been a member of the varsity for three years. She primarily plays shooting guard but also sees times at small forward.
Note from the coach:
“Shelby defines the word captain,” coach Lindsey Tennett said. “She works hard on and off the court and has improved tremendously over the years due to her work ethic and coach-ability. You couldn't find a nicer individual. Shelby is always encouraging to her teammates and can be counted on for quick buckets and end-of-the-game big shots. All these exemplify why Shelby is a key component to our team this season.”
About Shelby:
Best memory playing basketball:My best memory of playing basketball in high school would be last year in my junior year when we played Hatboro Horsham. It was tight the whole game, and with five seconds left in the last quarter, it was a tie game so I drove the lane and got fouled. I went to the line for two shots and missed the first but drained the second. We ended up winning by one point. It was the most nerve wrecking thing I ever done, but it was also one of the best moments.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Winning and playing as a team.
My role model is:  Mom
Music that gets me pumped before games: Rap, Taylor Swift, Drake, and Katy Perry
Favorite food: Pasta
Favorite TV show: Pretty Little Liars
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party: Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, my Grandma who died before I was born, and Channing Tatum

American Conference Millennium Administrators Highlighted Player
Olivia Bracy – Senior at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School

A senior reserve, Bracy is the consummate team player and is willing to do whatever she can to help the team.
Note from the coach:
“Olivia is your dream program player,” coach Daniel Dougherty said. “She just wants to be part of team/program. When we have individual meetings at the beginning of the year about roles on the team, her answers were always centered around the idea of ‘I just want to do whatever is best for the team-program, I don’t care about playing time.’  Some days she practices as a point guard, other days a wing, and occasionally, she even fills in as a post. Her name doesn't appear in the box score very often, but we wouldn't have enjoyed the success we've had the past four years without selfless kids like Olivia.”
About Olivia:
Best memory playing basketball:
Visiting the Ronald McDonald House with my team.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Having a second family during the season
My role model is:  My Grandfather
Music that gets me pumped before games:  Country Music
Favorite food: Sushi
Favorite TV show:  Law and Order: SVU
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party:  Walt Disney, Nelson Mandela, Luke Bryan, Warren Buffett
