Neshaminy's Stabilito Named Kids/Cadet Person of the Year

Neshaminy assistant head wrestling coach Joe Stabilito was recently named the 2014 USA Wrestling Kids/Cadet Person of the Year. He is the first Pennsylvania coach selected for this award by USA Wrestling, the national governing body for amateur wrestling in the United States. The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities at the state, regional and national levels. The recipient should have contributed to the development of Kids/Cadet Division programs at the state, regional and national levels. Other criteria includes: willingness to propose new ideas and contribute to regional and national programs, participation on regional and national committees and boards. Stabilito has been involved in wrestling for 44 years, 14 with USA Wrestling.

Stabilito, the head coach of Mohawk Wrestling Club (USAW Club), is a USA Wrestling Bronze Certified Coach working on Silver. He was the team leader and head coach of the PA Schoolboy Dual Team from 2007-2014. The team was a five-time national champion during that span. He also was the team leader of the seven-time national champion PA Cadet Dual Teams from 2007-14. In addition, he was the team leader of PA Fargo Junior and Cadet Teams from 2007-14. He also was the head coach and team leader of the Mason Dixon Dual squad, winners of five consecutive champions 2009-14.

Stabilito’s resume also includes serving as head coach of the Warminster Spartans Youth Wrestling Club (1970-87), the Raiders (1987) and Mohawk Wrestling Club (1979-93). He was the head coach at Cardinal Dougherty High School (1974-77) and served as assistant coach at William Tennent High School (1983-88). He was the head coach and athletic director of the Hatboro-Horsham Wrestling Club (1989-2007) and the head coach of Shady Run Middle School (2002-05). He was the assistant head coach at Upper Dublin High School from 2005-13 before moving to his current position as assistant head coach at Neshaminy for the past two years.

A 2014 District One Wrestling Hall of fame inductee, Stabilito is a board member of the PA Wrestling Hall of Fame, and he is also a member of the District One Wrestling Steering Committee.  He served as president of the Pennsylvania Amateur Wrestling Federation and was a delegate at the State Chairman’s Meeting in Colorado Spring from 2009-14.

Stabilito is co-founder of the East Mont Wrestling Club, which is now the Mohawk Wrestling Club. A charter member of the Buxmont Wrestling League, he served as president and vice president of the organization, and he also was president of the Warminster Spartans.
