Three Norristown Area High School wrestlers recently earned medals at the prestigious Beast of the East Tournament at the University of Delaware.  With 102 teams in the field the Beast of the East is one off the largest and most competitive high school wrestling tournaments in the county.

Competing at 182 pounds, Brett Harner compiled a 5-1 record in route to a second place finish.  Harner, currently ranked first in the state and fourth in the nation, defeated New Jersey state champion Johnny Sebastian of Bergen Catholic by a 3-1 score in the semi final round.  In the championship tilt Harner lost in overtime to the number one ranked wrestler in the county, Eric Morris of Wyoming Seminary.  This is the second time the two wrestlers have met this season with Morris winning both bouts in overtime.

Zach Fuentes tallied a 6-2 record while finishing in 5th place in the 113 pound weight class.  Fuentes, currently ranked 12th in the nation, recorded his 150th career win in his final bout of the tournament.  He currently leads all District 1 wrestlers with 15 wins on the season.

Mikey Springer also went 6-2 on the weekend and earned a 7th place medal at 145 pound.  Springer is currently ranked fourth in the state.
