Pennridge vs. Springfield - (9-16-15)

The Pennridge Boys’ Water Polo team narrowly defeated a tenacious and talented Springfield High School (Montgomery County) team on Wednesday, 9/6/2015.  The final score was 7-5 in this battle of the defenses played at Springfield Township High School.  Senior Callum Malcolm (#6) hit the cage 3 times to lead the Pennridge scoring and Senior Reilly Dolan (#5) and Junior Jeffrey Swartz (#3) each added two goals apiece.   Anthony Bosca (#1) defended the goal for the Springfield boys with an amazing performance and have over 20 saves in the game.  Wyatt Ford (#2) led the Springfield scoring with three goals.

Coach Vincent commented, “Our guys had a difficult time mounting an effective offense against the well-coached and well prepared Springfield Boys.  It is still early in the season and we will be working to improve our shooting percentage and to put more points on the scoreboard as we work through the season.  I am very pleased with the effort and the attitude of all of our athletes, but we ran into trouble in the game early with three of our starters fouling out.  The guys know what they have to work on and I am confident that they will be polishing the rough edges as they continue to work together through the season as a cohesive team.  As a coach, I am proud of the growth that I see in each of the athletes each week and even more so as they grow together as a team.  With a difficult ‘Beast of the East’ tournament coming up on September 25th and 26th, the guys know that they must prepare to face the best teams in the Northeast.”
