The Pennridge Rams Boys Water Polo Team has emerged from the state playoff games with a win over Governor Mifflin High School Tuesday evening to put them in the state quarterfinals this Friday, Nov. 6. Pennridge will face Cumberland Valley at 5:00 pm on Friday at Wilson (West Lawn) High School in a quarterfinal game.

Pennridge defeated Governor Mifflin at Governor Mifflin's home pool in a 15-9 hard fought game. Junior Jeffrey Swartz (#3), junior Villiam Haidari (#13), and sophomore Josh Yardley (#2) led the Rams scoring with three goals apiece.  Junior Jakob Aigeldinger defended the Rams goal with 12 saves and two steals. Senior Aaron Lionetti (#4) added to the defensive effort with three steals and a field block for the Rams.  Governor Mifflin senior Riley Mangan played a very impressive game, scoring more than half of the Governor Mifflin goals for the evening.

Last weekend was the Eastern Conference championships where Jeffrey Swartz also had a strong showing in the qualifying game against Wissahiockon where he scored six goals.  Jeffrey led the Rams to a 16-11 victory over the Wissahickon Trojans.

"It is very exciting to see the boys get to this point in the season," coach Vincent said. "The regular season was very competitive and we have developed significantly as a team and we are in a good position to move forward in the state championships.  This is a result of the hard work and teamwork that each of the athletes have shown through the season.  Senior captains Callum Malcolm, Tommy Schneider, and Jake Dearborn have done a great job of bringing this team together during the season. I am proud of what they have accomplished thus far and I am excited for the opportunity to compete for the state championship this weekend."
