Pennsbury at Council Rock North          Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022

The Falcons’ schedule was modified this week, as a result of Friday’s impending weather. As a result, Pennsbury swam a day early for their first in-conference meet at rival Council Rock North. Having two meets back-to-back this week proved to be a challenge for the Falcons. However, with perseverance, spirit, and teamwork, Pennsbury had a victory for the girls’ team to start the defense of their Patriot Division title, and the boys battled for some strong events. While these rivalries often can get tense, the coaches are very proud of the sportsmanship and drive that this team exhibited at this meet! Standout performances started with the girls Medley Relay lead by Reagan Ward, Ashley Martillotti, Mackenzie Cicco and Maggie Sweitzer followed by wins by M Cicco followed closely by Martillotti for the girls and Jacob Strockoz followed closely by Andrew Thau (200IM). Val Lawton and Sweitzer finished first and second (50 Free) leading into dive where the Kassidy Georgevich, Karlie von Schmidt and Izzy Stackawitz swept the girls side and Will Ferris won for the boys. Picking back up with the swim portion, wins by M Cicco (100 Fly) Lawton (100 Free) Keira Walsh followed by Ward for the girls and Andrew Thau for the boys (500 Free). The team of Sweitzer, Martillotti, Emily Cicco and Lawton (4x200) and E Cicco (100 Back) paced the girls to victory.  Rounding out the scoring with some strong efforts by Jacob Cohen (50 and 100 Free) Kian Hecht (200 Free and 100 Fly) and Kyle Zisa (100 Back).

Final Score

Mens:               CR North  101               Pennsbury 77

Womens:          Pennsbury  109             CR North 77

Upcoming is a home meet on Friday, Jan. 14, against in-conference rival Neshaminy. Please look for information on attendance opportunities as the teams would love to have as much support as possible.

Pennsbury at Pennridge            Jan. 5, 2022

The Falcons had an away meet against Pennridge on Wednesday Jan. 5. The long ride there was sweetened by a victory for both the girls and boys teams. The cheering and sportsmanship among the combined PHS teams was sensational, and both teams are looking forward to swimming at Pennsbury next year! The boys set the tone early with a win in the 200 Medley Relay powered by Jacob Strockoz, Kian Hecht, Jacob Cohen and Sam Bevington. The first half individual swim standout performances included, Mackenzie Cicco and Andrew Thau followed by Ben Brown,(200 Free), Val Lawton followed by Emily Cicco and Strockoz (200 IM), a girls sweep by Ashley Martillotti, Reagan Ward and Keira Walsh and boys win by Cohen (50 Free). The dive portion of the meet was led by the girls taking the top two spots thanks to Kassidy Georgevich and Karlie von Schmidt and the boys Will Ferris placing first. The second half of swim picked up with wins by Cohen (100 Free), M Cicco followed by Maggie Sweitzer and Strockoz (500 Free). In the second half, relay wins were led by Emily Cicco, Martillotti, M Cicco and Sweitzer for the girls with Andrew Thau, Ben Brown, Sam Bevington and Cohen (4x200) and Hecht, Strockoz, Brown and Thau (4x400) for the boys.  With a number of these wins to help power the team, the depth of these squads put the meet over the top with strong swims by Lawton and Kyle Zisa (100 Back), and E Cicco and Thau (100 Breast), Neil Griesbaum (200IM and 100 Back) earning enough points to secure victory.

The teams move on to in-conference meets starting off against Council Rock North away on Thursday January 6. The girls look to defend their SOL Conference Title and the boys look to remain a force in the standings.

Pennsbury at Central Bucks West          Dec. 22, 2021

The Falcons headed out to Central Bucks on Wednesday, Dec. 22, to compete against the CB West Boys and Girls teams. Everyone was gearing up for the holidays, but stayed focused on the task at hand. Both the boys and girls teams had many standout performances, including Emily Cicco (200 Free), Jacob Strockoz (200 Free) and Kian Hecht (500 Free) with high school bests. Pennsbury had a number of individual swim victories including, Ashley Martillotti and Andrew Thau (both 200 IM), Val Lawton (100 Free), Mackenzie Cicco (100 Fly), Keira Walsh (500 Free) and Reagan Ward (100 Back). The girls dive team of Kassidy Georgevich, Karlie von Schmidt and Izzy Stackawitz swept their event and Will Ferris finished 2nd for the boys. The relay teams of Lawton, Maggie Sweitzer, E Cicco, Martillotti (4x200 Free), won and in two tight 4x400 Free races the boys team of Kian Hecht, Neil Griesbaum, Strockoz and Jacob Cohen and girls team of Walsh, M Cicco, Ward and Sweitzer each out-touched CB West at the end to win their events.

While these efforts were able to keep the meet close, the overall depth of CB West was too much to overcome for either squad. With time off and training for the holidays, the Falcons have one more SOL meet prior to the start of Conference competition.
