Hershey, PA-The Southeast Regions top two teams, Quakertown and Council Rock South, are looking good after the first day of wrestling in Chocolate Town, USA, as CR South sits in sixth place in the overall team standings with 18.5-points with Q-town just below in seventh with 17-points.  As expected, top guns Mason Ziegler (Q-town) and Matt Colajezzi (CRS) both responded in their round-of-16 bouts with victories.  Ziegler, at 120-pounds now, will take on Ohio State bound Vincent Kilkeary (Greater Latrobe) in the quarterfinals.  Ziegler lost to Kilkeary last year here 6-3.  Colajezzi with a similar fate, finishing as the runner-up at regionals will be facing #1 seed Jared Keslar (Connellsville) in his quarterfinal match, which very well could have been the finals at 160-pounds with a different outcome last weekend.

CRS added a quarterfinalist early with Luke Reitter at 106 who will take on another Greater Latrobe foe in freshman Luke Willochell (41-4).  Council Rock North’s Eren Sement continues to dominate as he rolls along. He performed surgically with a 15-love tech fall in his opening contest over Landon Machado (Del Val).

Quakertown’s super frosh Collin Gaj at 132 will take on another freshman in Kollin Rath from BECA in his quarter.  Teammate and big man Frederick Retter joins him in the quarters at 285-pounds and will grapple #1 seed Sean Kinney from Nazareth.

In the team race, Council Rock South has three quarterfinalists as well.  Along with Colajezzi and Reitter, the Golden Hawks will have Mo Sadriddinov join them after a great first round match in the Giant Center at 145-pounds.  Mo scored a late takedown on Reagan LeFevre (Hempfield), winning 3-1 to advance.

Central Bucks East standout Quinn Collins, the #1 seed at 189-pounds, downed Conestoga’s Jake Allred 9-2 and will battle Wayne McIntyre (E Stroudsburg North) in his quarterfinal.  CB West’s Carl DiGirgio started his run at a title with a quick fall in 52-seconds over J.P. McCaskey’s Jose Garcia and will be tested by a late postseason entry in Cole Weightman from Belle Vernon who is only 10-2 on the season.

A host of SOL wrestlers needed to wrestle-back in the consolation bracket after dropping down with first round losses.  CR North’s Tony Burke (113), Abington’s Shane Kibler (145), along with three 152-pounders William Morrow (North Penn), Bek Sadriddinov (CRS) and Mason Stein (CBE), Neshaminy’s Andrew Pokalsky (160), Q-town’s Calvin Lachman (172), and Council Rock’s Aden Roe from North and South’s Lucas Doyle at 215-pounds.
