VARSITY BOYS       "Colonials Can't Let Good Times Roll over Host Ghosts"
WILLOW GROVE,PA- Plymouth Whitemarsh varsity boys' bowling had an 8 win and 0 loss campaign against Abington in 2009-2010. In 2010-2011, however, Abington is already 3-1, ensuring PW a possible losing record (PW can be at best 5-3 in 2010-2011 against Abington). In the past, PW would master these lanes, which included a 279 game by PW class of 2010 graduate Chris Hammes against Upper Moreland in January 2010. Now, Hammes is most likely at a post-secondary facility, and without his guidence, the Colonials have trouble slipping against Willow Grove opponents.
PW won the first game 789-775 over Abington, even though Kyle Hatfield had PW's highest game 1 score of 182; Zach Lyons had 206 in that game for the ghosts. Things got extremely slippery, whcih were discovered in game 2 as Abington took game 2 by a count of 749-460, which marked the first game PW has lost to Abington since before Chris Hammes entered the team in 2006-2007; Joey Galleo, a PW Sophomore who took over for Dave Duncan, had 194, and Nigel Haley and Matt Michale each had 179 for Abington. Most of PW's shots were slippery in the third game, losing 799-928, ensuring their first series lost to the Ghosts since pre-2006-2007;  Duncan, who injured his leg in a nonleague game against Neshaminy on Thursday December 17,2010, returned from JV to record a game 3 high 205 for PW, while Haley's 191 and Lyons's 201 led the Ghosts to pure victory.
Andrew Rexroth, who was written on the varsity scoring sheet, did not see varsity action for the Colonials. Haley's 191 is the second highest game he's ever bowled against the Colonials-in January 2010 at Facenda Whitaker Lanes, Haley bowled a surprising game/match-high 222 against PW in one game.
Before PW heads for Winter Break to conclude 2010, PW hosts Northern Pennsylvania in a Suburban One American match at Facenda Whitaker on Wednesday December 22,2010.

VARSITY GIRLS: "PW Experiments with JV2 Bowlers, but the Experiment Does Not Help out a Losing Cause to host Abington"
WILLOW GROVE PA- Considering that three of your five varsity bowlers score under 100 in the first game, you know those girls had a hard game controlling the rolls. Plymouth Whitemarsh was believed to have either defeated Abington 5-3 or split the season series in 2009-2010. On the contrary, the best PW can finish against Abington in 2010-2011 is 4-4 because on this Monday December 20,2010, host Abington howled the visiting Lady Colonials, 1,631 [0]- 1,894 [4]. The Lady Colonials were jinxed by an article contributing to their varsity program in today's (12/20/2010) edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer High School Sports section, which stated that PW head coach Jeff Blizzard said, "This is the best Girls' varsity team we ever had in our seven years."
In  the first game, PW suffered a smoking hot 486-674 defeat, which included Lauren Enslin's PW game 1 high 153, compared to the 184 recorded by Abington's Gabi Poveda. Game 2 came down to the wire, but the Ghosts, with Sam Dowdy's 161, prevailed a 629-597 outing; Brittany Clemens was replaced by Deanna Form, who made her Varsity debut with a 103 game for PW. Coach Blizzard took out four of his five bowlers (Lauren Enslin the exception), in which he promoted three JV2 (Alternatives) and 1 JV bowler, and PW still couldn't tame the ghosts with a 548-586 defeat; the three JV2 bowlers that were promoted to varsity for PW were Bridget Distel, Cait Mastiueda, and Gabi Gloia, and Jessie Hockman was the promoted PW player from the Junior Varsity squad.
PW has one final match before their winter break in 2010-2011, which is home at Facenda Whitaker on Wednesday December 22,2010 against perennial conference power Northern Pennsylvania Maidens.
