Jasmine Korr – Towson University (Track)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Towson, Bucknell, Southern Connecticut, Bloomsburg, Monmouth, Rider

Reasons for choosing Towson:  “Towson was one of my early visits, and when I went on the campus and met the coach, I fell in love with the program. The coach reminded me of coach Brader. I really connected with my host, and the rest of the girls on the team were fun too. They reminded me of the girls here at Quakertown. The coaches at Towson put academics first and then focus on your goals for sports. I really want to make sure my grades are good, and track comes second.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I started getting letters at the end of my junior year, and over the summer, I started to look at colleges. At that point, I was thinking I wanted to go Division II, but at the beginning of this year, I started getting some Division One letters.

Coach Jason Anderson says:  “She works hard, and she has that desire to just keep after it. She wants it, and that’s something you really can’t teach anyone. It’s fantastic for Quakertown to see someone excel at this level and to be able to go to the collegiate level and run, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for me to have someone who really sees the big picture and can show the younger girls – this is what you can do. You can be like Jasmine and do this in college. I look forward to her leadership on the track this spring. It’s fantastic for her and for all of us to have a success story like this.

Coach Tom Brader says:  “Basically, this is the result of hard work and dedication – a girl who refused to give up. (She) would practice on her own. Summertime when it was 100 degrees eight o’clock in the morning or six o’clock at night, whatever it took. By herself in the fall preparing herself for the winter season. That is nothing more than heart, determination and desire to be a great athlete. It’s a testament to who she is as a person, who she is as an athlete. I’m very proud of her, and I know her parents are very proud of her, and she’s going to be a fantastic student and a fantastic athlete at Towson. Towson is very lucky to get Jasmine Korr.”
