On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, Central Bucks South senior Lindsay Schmidt was recognized at a news conference for signing a letter of intent to dive at West Virginia University.

Lindsay Schmidt – West Virginia University (Diving)

Major:  Undecided but something in the medical field

Final list of colleges:  West Virginia, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Drexel

Reasons for choosing West Virginia:  “I really just felt so at home there. It was a great college atmosphere, and it was a real good college campus. I just had so much fun, and I loved the coach and the divers.”

What was the progression that led you to competing in diving at the collegiate level?  “I was a gymnast for a while, but I switched over to diving a few years ago, and I have always been really passionate about it, so I always wanted to dive in college. My mother’s pull was definitely going to West Virginia (Schmidt’s mother dove at West Virginia).”

Coach Jeff Lake says:  “Lindsay is awesome. She’s a perfectionist. She comes in and practices hard. She wants to do better. She’s constantly improving, and she’ll do the difficult dives that sometimes divers won’t do. The biggest thing is she puts the work into it, so she can make those dives work out.
“She’s an awesome kid. She’s made states all four years. She’s just very, very good.”
