SHSHL Flyers Cup Wrap (3-6-13)

Abington and Souderton suffered disappointing losses in Flyers Cup play on Wednesday.

#11 PARKLAND 3, #6 ABINGTON 1
Abington fell behind 1-0 after one period, but a power play goal by Erik Walter (Paul Abendroth/James Campbell assists) knotted the score 9:16 into the second period. Two minutes later Parkland scored the go-ahead goal on its second power play goal of the game. Parkland added an empty net goal in the third period to put the finishing touches on its upset of the Ghosts.
Parkland held a 28-26 edge in shots. Parkland goalie Robert Stock turned away 25 of 26 shots while Abington’s Bryan Rossi turned away 25 of 28 shots.

#10 WILSON 3, #7 SOUDERTON
The Indians found themselves locked in a 1-1 tie after one period only to watch Wilson score single goals in both the second and third periods on its way to the upset win.
Clay Anders accounted for Souderton’s only goal, scoring late in the first period with assists from Daniel Rock and Chris Malanga.
Souderton held a 22-15 advantage in shots, but Wilson goalie Marc Daouphars turned away 21 shots. Souderton’s Bryce McMichael stopped 12 of 15 shots he faced.
