The Indians found themselves staring at a 5-3 deficit early in the third period, but any thoughts that the Golden Hawks had this win in the bag were put to rest in a hurry. That set the stage of OT, and the Indians brought an early end to the drama when – 1:44 into OT – Matthew Malanga scored the game-winner with assists from Maxwell Ryon and Chow.
Earlier, Rock South took a 2-1 lead after one period, sandwiching goals from Blaize Pepe (Illia Mukhin assist) and Mukhin (Jake Weiner assist) around a goal by Chow (Seth Grossman assist).
In the second quarter, Grossman scored the equalizer, but Bobby Gilbert responded, scoring with assists from Jonah Weston and Gavin Nisenzon to give the Golden Hawks a 3-2 advantage. Grossman scored less than a minute later (Maxwell Ryon assist) to even the score. Weiner answered with an unassisted goal to send the Golden Hawks into the final period with a 4-3 lead.

The Golden Hawks held a 37-31 advantage in shots, but that advantage was negated by the 32-save effort of Noah Connor.
