SHSHL Varsity AA Ice Hockey Playoff Preview (2-26-19)

(1) CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH vs. (8) COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH (Monday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m., Warwick)
Central Bucks South

  • 11-3-2 overall
  • 9-0-2 SHSHL Continental Conference champions
  • Titans scored 75 goals and allowed 17
  • Attack led by Reis Braccio (21 goals, 15 assists, 36 points), Colin Abbonizio (13 goals, 12 assists, 25 points), Ryan Gingras (9 goals, 11 assists, 20 points), Dominick Liberta (5 goals, 11 assists, 16 points), Stephen McMillan (6 goals, 9 assists, 15 points), Matt Milanesi (6 goals, 8 assists, 14 points) and Dominic Patrone (6 goals, 8 assists, 14 points).
  • Oscar Levin has been a mainstay in goal and boasts a record of 7-3-2. He has turned away 197 of 224 shots for an .879 save percentage, allowing 2.52 goals a game. Mason Moyer is 4-0 and has turned 29 of 38 shots (.763).

Council Rock South

  • 6-7-3 overall
  • 3-5-3 National Conference third place
  • Attack led by Logan Hurwitz (11 goals, 16 assists, 27 points), Bill Harrelson (10 goals, 7 assists, 17 points), Andy Stoychev (4 goals, 7 assists) and Jeremy Purcell (4 goals, 7 assists, 11 points)
  • Jeremy Sweeney (3-3-1), Brett Magloff (1-4-2) and Alex Patrizi (2-0-0) have split time in goal. Sweeney boasts an .872 save percentage, turning away 197 of 227 shots. He has allowed 3.95 save percentage. Magloff also has an .872 save percentage with 157 saves on 180 shots. He has allowed 3.63 goals a game. Patrizi has stopped 61 of 69 shots for a save percentage of .884 with a 3.43 goals-against average.

(2) PENNRIDGE vs. (7) CENTRAL BUCKS EAST (Monday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m., Hatfield Ice)
Pennridge

  • 11-2-3 overall
  • 8-1-2 Continental Conference second place
  • Rams have scored 70 goals and allowed 20
  • Eric Slater leads a potent attack with 29 goals and 16 assists (45 points). Also making important contributions are Michael Walker (13 goals, 15 assists, 28 points), Frankie Rota (7 goals, 13 assists, 20 points), Matthew Guinette (4 goals, 12 assists, 16 points) and Michael Eissler (7 goals, 5 assists, 11 points).
  • Luke Stranick anchors the defense in goal. He has an 11-3-1 record and has turned away 289 of 317 shots for a save percentage of .912. He has allowed an average of just 2.06 goals a game.
  • Defeated Central Bucks East 6-2 on Dec. 13.

Central Bucks East

  • 9-5-2 overall
  • 5-5-1 Continental Conference fifth place
  • Attack led by the Patriots’ one-two punch of Sean Gorman (21 goals, 5 assists, 26 points) and Rob Kern (8 goals, 15 assists, 23 points).
  • Chris McIntyre and Matt Ogonowski have split time in goals. McIntyre boasts a 4-2-2 record and has turned away 212 of 232 shots for a .914 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.51. Ogonowski is 5-3 and has turned away 153 of 179 shots for a save percentage of .855 and a goals-against average of 3.25.

(3) NORTH PENN vs (6) PENNSBURY (Monday, Feb. 25, 8:40 p.m., Hatfield Ice)
North Penn

  • 10-3-3 overall
  • 7-2-2 Continental Conference third place
  • Scored 71 goals and allowed 35
  • Dangerous offense led by Tyler Greenstein (20 goals, 20 assists, 40 points), Nathan Oh (13 goals, 13 assists, 36 points), Jared Albano (10 goals, 22 assists, 32 points), Jake Nelson (19 goals, 11 assists, 30 points) and Joshua Kaufhold (10 goals, 19 assists, 29 points).
  • Andrew Zanoli and Nick Ebbinghaus split time in goals. Zanoli has a 5-1 record and has turned away 90 of 104 shots for an .865 save percentage with a 2.33 goals-against average. Ebbinghaus is 5-2-3 and has turned away 169 of 202 shots for an .837 save percentage and a 3.30 goals-against average.
  • Defeated Pennsbury 10-3 on Nov. 29.

Pennsbury

  • 6-7-3 overall
  • 5-5-1 National Conference second place
  • Attack led by Erik Eisler (13 goals, 11 assists, 24 points), Jake Sieger (14 goals, 9 assists, 23 points), Shane Siegmund (10 goals, 10 assists, 20 points) and Beau Yedman (9 goals, 8 assists).
  • Topher Seiler anchors the defense in goal and has a record of 6-5-3 with an .833 save percentage. He has turned away 299 of 359 shots, allowing an average of 4.39 goals a game.

(4) CENTRAL BUCKS WEST vs. (5) NESHAMINY (Monday, Feb. 25, 8:40 p.m., Warwick)
Central Bucks West

  • 9-7-0 overall
  • 7-4-0 Continental Conference fourth place
  • Attack led by Christopher Trefz (11 goals, 28 assists, 39 points), Jake Lang (17 goals, 12 assists, 29 points), Pavel Serhiayenka (13 goals, 10 assists, 23 points) and Owen Shields (8 goals, 7 assists, 15 points).
  • Jeremy Kennard, Nicholas Ritz and Jake Coddington have seen meaningful minutes in goal. Jeremy Kennard is 4-4 with a 3.73 goals-against average. He has turned away 311 of 349 shots for a save percentage of .891. Coddington is 2-2 with a save percentage of .875 and a 3.87 goals-against average. Ritz is 3-1 and has turned 83 of 91 shots for a save percentage of .912 and a 3.25 goals-against average.

Neshaminy

  • 7-4-4 overall
  • 5-3-3 SHSHL National Conference champions
  • Robert Seewagen leads the attack with 20 goals and 14 assists (34 points). Joey DeMatteo (13 goals, 15 assists, 28 points) and Thomas Gallagher (10 goals, 13 assists, 23 points).
  • Steve Glik anchors the defense in goal and boasts a 6-3-4 record with a save percentage of .902. He has stopped 407 of 451 shots in goals for a goals-against average of 3.54.
  • Neshaminy defeated Central Bucks West 4-2 on Feb. 14.
