SOL Athletes Excel at National Hockey Festival

SOL field hockey players excelled at the National Hockey Festival in West Palm Beach.

Mystx U-16 Force Wins Gold at National Hockey Festival
Mystx Field Hockey Club’s U16 Mystx Force team took home gold at the National Hockey Festival over Thanksgiving weekend. The National Hockey Festival, put on by USA Field Hockey, is the largest amateur field hockey event in the world. In total 196 Under-16 teams in 28 pools competed at the 2013 national Hockey Festival held on the polo fields of the International Polo Club.
The Mystx Force had five wins and a tie to win the gold medal. The Mytstx Force includes many players from the Suburban One League. Council Rock North coach Heather Whalin served as head coach, and William Tennent coach Kaitlin Rauchut served as assistant coach for the Force tournament team.
“It was a total team effort from the keepers all the way up to the forwards,” Whalin said. “It’s nice to see girls from all different high schools come together and jell as a team. Coach Rauchut was a great asset to have as an assistant coach, and the players played a high level of hockey. It reminded me just how much I love this game.”
Force players include:  Marlena Koellner (Neshaminy), Jennica Jonovich (Council Rock North), Rachel Pomerantz (Council Rock North), Christen Pennington (Neshaminy), Brenna Reilley (Hatboro-Horsham), Amanda Blum (Neshaminy), Chelsea Duggan (ANC), Maddie Keppel (Council Rock South), Cameron Costello (New Hope-Solebury), Gabrielle Acker (Hatboro-Horsham), Emily Alexis (Neshaminy), Margaret Lynch (Mount St. Joseph), Caroline McGovern (Council Rock South), Maria Palmieri (Neshaminy), Gigi Tutoni (Council Rock North), Chloe Verweil (New Hope-Solebury), Marcella Molenari (Central Bucks West).

Mystx Storm U-19 Finished Third at National Hockey Festival
Tina Reinprecht’s Mystx Storm U19 squad – which finished third in its pool – also had a roster loaded with SOL players. Players on the team included Rachel Stefano (Moorestown), Jenna Cutilli (Hatboro-Horsham), Elizabeth Sharp (Pennsbury), Lindsay Boerner (Lower Moreland). Theresa Delahanty (Council Rock North), Casey Swezey (Hatboro-Horsham), Katie Maransky (Mount Saint Joseph), Corey Mayer (Lower Moreland), Christy Pascali (Mount Saint Joseph), Mollie Sheehy (Council Rock South), Sarah Brennan (Princeton Day School), Kari Moyer (Pennridge), Katherine Bagdon (Council Rock South), Kate Fitzpatrick (Mount Saint Joseph), Abby Alexis (Neshaminy), Kaycee Zelkovsky (South Hunterdon), Marissa Elizardo (North Penn), Emily Braunewell (Hatboro-Horsham).
Mystx also brought two other younger teams for the first time ever at the USA Field Hockey event. The Mystx Burn and Blast teams played in the U-14 division.

Central Bucks South Athletes/True North Field Hockey Club Excel at National Hockey Festival
Eleven members of SOL Continental Conference champion and district finalist Central Bucks South traveled to West Palm Beach, Fla., to defend their U19 title and Mixed Division National Championships.
The three True North teams that traveled to Florida were coached and managed by Jeff Harding from Central Bucks South. Truth North came home with a gold medal/first place finish in the mixed division as well as a second place finish in the U19-C pool with a 5-1 record and 24 goals scored and only four against. The club also had a third place finish in the D-pool, which was coached by Steve Wagner.
Player/coach Jeff Harding was a member of the 1st place mixed division team.
Second place True North included Mackenzie Harding (CB South/Villanova), Megan Hamilton (CB South/Providence), Corrine Kenney (CB South), Sarah Zezsotarski (CB South), Jessica Schmidt (CB South/UNH) and Emily Cliggett (CB South).
Members of the third place True North team included Ali Davis (CB South), Samantha Bodo (CB South), Maggie Walsh (CB South), Gabby Villa (CB South), Maggie Ryder (CB South), Kaitlin 

McCauley (Gwynedd Mercy) and Maggie Stella (CB East).

n one of the higher pools is amazing. The college coach feedback was exceptional as these athletes continually showed the passion, speed and intensity needed to play college hockey.”
