BOYS
North Penn 16, Pennridge 9

It took a bit longer than North Penn would’ve liked, but the Knights finally earned their first conference win of the year.
Zach McKelton scored five goals and added a pair of assists while helping the Knights to a 16-9 win over Pennridge on Monday afternoon.
It was North Penn’s sixth Continental Conference matchup of the season as the Knights improved to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
“It was a monkey off our back – that was it,” North Penn coach Rick Smith said.  “It was a good win for our guys not only for the win, but just the way we got it.  We came out dominating and very strong and then they fought back and we had to go through some adversity.  The score did not reflect what the game was really like.  We fought some adversity, and our guys came through.”
North Penn led 5-0 after one quarter and increased that lead to 9-3 at the half.  Pennridge came out with a couple goals in the third quarter, but the Knights again increased upon their lead and held on for the win.
Matt Brady scored three times and added an assist for North Penn, while Luke Homan scored twice.  Jake Diamond recorded a goal and two assists, while Scott Keffer and Sawyer Koch each added a goal and an assist.  Jeff Reimel, Harrison Barclay and Jake Hughes each scored once for the Knights.
“It wasn’t one guy that was very dominating for us,” Smith said.  “We had a bunch of guys that scored goals for us, and it was a real good team effort.  But Zach played a great game.  He has been so close to putting the ball in the cage, but he finally got it to the back today.  Zach is a really good player and he finally had a game that proved it.  Once again, it was a total team effort.  Our heads were up and we were feeding each other real well.”
Steven Puras led the Pennridge attack with three goals on the afternoon.  Six other players scored goals for the Rams.
Defensively, the Knights were led by Jacob Walters as well as goalkeeper Chris Barr, who stopped 18 shots in net to earn the win.
“I think Chris did very well in net and he’s been playing really sound,” Smith said.  “We made a couple of adjustments, but I think my leading defensive player was Jacob (Walters).  We tried moving him around all over the field to get him matchups like we got today.  We put him on one of their top middies today and he did a good job of that.  He’s a great team player that goes anywhere I ask him to go and he’s really coming through.”

Abington 9, Pennsbury 4
In what is Peter Burns’ first year as head coach of Abington – a team which he joined after the season had already gotten started – things have been looking very good.  So good in fact that the Ghosts still haven’t lost in National Conference play as of Monday night.
The Ghosts improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play following a 9-4 win over the Falcons in an afternoon meeting at Pennsbury High School.
Joey Lomady led the way for Abington with four goals and one assist in a game which Abington led 6-1 at the half and never looked back.
“I thought overall we played pretty well,” Burns said.  “It was definitely a full team effort, which is always great to see.  It was nice to see the team respond after coming off a tough last on Saturday and I think the way the team has played together has been a total team effort in every game.  Someone else seems to step up every game and that’s hard to defend if you’re a team playing us.”
Pennsbury, which dropped to 2-6 overall, was outshot by Abington, 27-20.  Jared Petty and Greg Kolowajtis each scored two goals for the Falcons to provide all of the team’s offense for the day.  Goalkeeper Jack Kenney stopped nine shots in net.
The Ghosts also received a pair of goals each from Joey Lomady and Brian Gallagher, while Matt Gormley scored once.  Blake Friedman stopped eight shots in net to earn the win for the Ghosts, but it was Lomady’s play that really made the difference.
“Joey got the game ball today,” Burns said.  “He really gave a great effort and was facing off well first and foremost.  He followed that up with his big game offensively.  We told him before the game that he might have some opportunities to win faceoffs and that should make him able to spark the offense a little bit.  He responded very well to that.”
Already 10 games into the season and with his team four games over .500, Burns couldn’t be happier with the start he has gotten with his new team.  And he credits a lot of that on the team’s senior leader.
“We didn’t have a very traditional start to the season with myself and the other coaches joining after the season had already started, but it has actually been a great transition for myself and the rest of the staff,” Burns said.  “That really steps from the great people we have on this team, especially being a senior-led team.  We have some great leaders on the team and they bought in from Day 1 what we were trying to accomplish.  It has been a much smoother transition than I thought and that’s because of the high characters of the players we have on the team.”

Council Rock South 19, Neshaminy 5
Council Rock South defeated Neshaminy by 14 goals at Neshaminy High School on Monday afternoon.
The Hawks were led by Mike Pyria’s five goals in the winning effort.  Sam Presley, Shane Magrann and Kyle Walter each scored three times for CR South, while Colin Patterson scored twice.  Scott Lesser, Jared Gambino and Erc Lesser each scored one goal for the Hawks.
CR South, which led 3-0 after one quarter and 8-2 at the half, got four saves in net from goalkeeper Austin Divinney.

Council Rock North 18, Harry S. Truman 0
Council Rock North improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 with an 18-0 win over Harry S. Truman on Monday afternoon.
The Indians, who went up 2-0 after one quarter and 9-0 at the half, were led by Brian Fitzpatrick, who recorded five goals and four assists.  Zach Connors added three goals and two assists, while Matthew Moller, Sean McLean and Evan Ozaroff tallied a pair of goals apiece.  James Trice and Joe Earley each recorded a goal and an assist, while Brian Clancy chipped in with a goal of his own.
CR North goalkeeper Brett McDonald stood tall, stopping all eight shots that came his way to earn the shutout.  The Indians scored six more goals in the third quarter and put the mercy rule into effect early in the second half.

Upper Dublin 19, Upper Merion 7
Leading by three at the half, Upper Dublin came out on fire in the third quarter, outscoring Upper Merion 8-1 in the period to help lift the Cardinals to a 12-goal win over the host Vikings on Monday afternoon.
Michael Sowers led the Cardinals’ offense with three goals and 10 assists, while Michael Mullen added four goals and two assists of his own.  Evan Scott also scored four times, while Nick Vernacchio scored twice and collected three assists.  Zach Hanson and Jack Rapine each scored twice for Upper Dublin, while Sanjay Foster and Ryan Siwinski each scored once.
Upper Dublin goalkeeper Bobby McPeake stopped 15 shots in net to earn the win.

Springfield 8, Plymouth Whitemarsh 7
Springfield received two goals apiece from Ryan Donofry and Brendan Doyle in what turned out to be a one-goal victory over Plymouth Whitemarsh on Monday afternoon at Springfield High School.
Jack Gozzard, Jamie Dougherty, Malik Ball and Jeff Meyers all got on the scoreboard as well for the Spartans, scoring one goal apiece in the winning effort.
“So far this season I am very proud of our kids’ effort, resilience and fight to the last minute of every game,” coach Bill Krewson said. “We continue to work hard and improve every day. Not only that, but we continue to work on growing together as a solid team.”
The Spartans are 4-4 overall.

Hatboro-Horsham 8, Central Bucks West 4
The Hatters won their fifth straight league game, defeating West by a score of 8-4. Nick Pace (4 goals) and Zach Erwine (one goal, one assist) led the Hatters offensively. Matt McPoyle, Brendan Mulligan and Connor McPoyle each contributed one goal. Logan Eldridge had one assist.
Jake Cresta, Keith Cameron, Matt McPoyle, Ryan Moore and Jack Morris led the defense in holding the Bucks to only four goals. Marc Poust was once again outstanding in goal, recording 13 saves on 17 shots. He also was a major contributor in the Hatters’ clear game.
The Hatters (6-4, 5-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West to take on league rival Central Bucks East on Wednesday night.

Wissahickon 16, Upper Moreland 7
Pat Magdalinski (two goals, six assists) had a hand in eight goals, and Brook Melvins (three goals, four assists) had a role in seven to lead the Trojans to the big win. Tyler Zapach added four goals, and Jack Shea and Zach Scannapieco both had two goals. Luke Gomez, John Esposito and Neal Guaglianone each added single goals. Esposito also had an assist as did Tommy Monaghan, Nate DeGroat and John Carrozza. Alex Ortiz closed out the scoring with a pair of assists.
Chris Fleming led the Golden Bears with four goals. Joey Colbridge had three assists for the Golden Bears, who trailed 4-1 at the end of one period and 11-3 at the intermission.

Central Bucks East 10, Central Bucks South 5

Submitted article by CB South)
DOYLESTOWN, PA -- The Patriots of Central Bucks East used an absolute "Matt Attack" to defeat the visiting Titans of Central Bucks South at War Memorial Field Monday night.  The Patriots got nine goals from players named Matt (Schmidt 4, Vetter 2, Heim 2, and Milici 1) with an additional goal by non-Matt, Logan Nelson, to score a hard fought victory over their rivals.
In first quarter action, Matt Vetter sandwiched two goals around CB South's Brendan McGrath to give CB East a 2-1 lead.  Matt Schmidt started off the second quarter scoring with his first of four goals on the night.  CB East ran away in the second quarter, outscoring the Titans 5-2, including a goal by Logan Nelson with under four seconds left in the half to go into halftime with a 7-3 lead.
The first half highlights for CB South were McGrath's first goal, which he scored after an interception at midfield, and long-pole defender Tim Ross's short-handed transitional goal, which came off of a beautiful feed from middie Jake Henze.
The two teams traded goals in the third quarter with Schmidt picking up his third of four goals on the night for the Patriots while sophomore Evan Falkowski tallied for the Titans.  The Patriots scored two more "Matt" goals in the final stanza (Heim and Schmidt) before Jamie Renneisen closed out the scoring for CB South for the 10-5 final.
Both Sean McGovern (East) and Robby Richick (South) were solid in goal.  McGovern made three back-to-back-to-back saves midway through the final quarter to keep his Patriots comfortably ahead.  The CB East defense performed well in front of McGovern, who had 11 saves, and LSM Dustin Buchanan eight ground balls.  Meanwhile, the Titan defenders, led by their two Kevins (Witchey and Uzelac) were also good.  However, CB East just had too many Matts for CB South's two Kevins to handle. Uzelac led his team with six ground balls.
For the Patriots, Andrew Del Bracco won 11-of-16 faceoffs and had nine ground balls.
The Patriots will face Hatboro-Horsham on Wednesday at War Memorial Field.
