SOL Boys' Lacrosse Wrap: 4-30-10 & 5-1-10

Pennsbury 10, Holy Ghost 9 (Saturday, May 1)

Josh Caven (Pat Bonnot assist) scored a goal with 4:40 remaining in regulation, and that turned out to be the game winner in Saturday’s battle between the neighboring rivals. It was the only  goal scored in the fourth quarter by either team.
The Falcons won 18 of 24 face-offs but held just a 37-35 advantage in shots. Goalie Drew Sweetland turned away 19 shots in an outstanding effort – one better than his counterpart, Andrijko Andrusko.
The Falcons received goals from Shawn Caven and Ricky Jutkiewicz (Calvin Hopkins assist) to take an early 2-0 lead. They led 6-5 at the end of one quarter and stretched that lead to 9-7 by halftime only to watch Ghosts knot the score at the end of three quarters, thanks to a pair of third-quarter goals.
Pennsbury was led by Jutkiewicz (2 goals, 1 assist), Tim Considine (2 goals, 1 assist), Josh Caven (3 goals), Calvin Hopkins (1 goal, 1 assist) and Shawn Caven (1 goal, 1 assist).
The Falcons upped their record to 13-1.
Neshaminy 13, Council Rock South 4 (Friday, April 30)
Chris Brady had a hand in nine of Neshaminy’s 13 goals, scoring three and assisting on six others. Teammate Keenan Skeels added five goals and an assist. Jimmy Roessner connected for the hat trick while Alex McKenzie and Jared Campbell both contributed a goal and an assist. Eugene LaBorde had one assist and also turned away 13 shots in goal in a standout effort.
For the Golden Hawks, Nick Gugliemi had a pair of goals while Matt Curry and Jake Presley each added single goals. Matt Finor, Dennis Chickin and Jake Domskey each had an assist. Goalie Tim Bruemmer turned away six goals for the Redskins.
Pennsbury 15, Council Rock North 4 (Friday, April 30)
The Falcons opened up a 7-1 lead at the end of one quarter and extended that lead to 10-1 by halftime on their way to the decisive win. Contributing scoring for the Falcons were Shawn Caven (4 goals, 2 assists), Evan Caterson (2 goals, 2 assists), Josh Caven (2 goals, 1 assist), Ricky Jutkiewicz (1 goal, 2 assists), Calvin Hopkins (2 goals) and Tim Considine (2 assists).
Tyler Shablin had one goal and one assist for the Indians, who also received single goals from Shane Perdekis, Dan Brenner and Andrew DiSpirito. Brian Magley contributed an assist.
Drew Sweetland and Phil Jutkiewicz combined to make eight saves in goal for the Falcons with Jutkiewicz turning away five shots. Marc McDonald was credited with 19 saves for the Indians, who fell to 4-6. The Falcons improved to 12-1.
Souderton 10, North Penn 5 (Friday, April 30)
The Indians notched their sixth league win of the season on Friday with their victory over the neighboring Knights. Leading the way for the Indians were Lee Stiles (four goals) and Bryan Ziegler (three goals). Also scoring for the Indians were Tyler MacDougal, J.P. Carroll and Nick Judge.
Coach Todd Pettit, whose team improved to 9-3 overall, credited Brad Sawhill, Jon Prasky and Keith Lockman for their strong defensive play.
Abington 19, Harry S. Truman 0 (Friday, April 30)
Matt Rambo scored four goals while teammate Matt Figueroa contributed six assists to lead the Ghosts to the big win. Nick Pisko (three assists), Ryan Ambler (four assists), Eric Berger (one assist), Jeff Tepel (one assist), Matt Louridas and Brian Stutz each added two goals. Matt Lomady, Anthony Hensley (one assist) and Sam Kind each contributed one goal.
Goalies Travis O’Connor and Eric Goldsborough each made one save in the shutout.
