CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 14, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2
Paybacks aren’t a whole lot of fun. As a matter of fact, they can be downright nasty. Central Bucks West can attest to that.
Three days after avenging a midseason loss to North Penn with a 9-6 win over the Knights, the Patriots laid a 14-2 beating on the Bucks, effectively erasing memories of their 7-6 loss to CB West on April.
This one was never close.
The Patriots, who led 6-0 after one quarter, took a 10-0 lead into halftime and extended that to 14-0 before the Bucks scored a pair of fourth quarter goals to avert the shutout.
Owen Griffins’s four goals paced the Bucks while Ryan Brown added a hat trick. Mike Ott and Ryan Stout both had two goals while Logan Nelsen, Alec Bracken and Brant Billingsley each had one.
Mike Ott won 14-of-18 face-offs. West goalie Liam Rosenthal recorded five saves in the win.
Bryan McIntosh and Nelsen led the Patriots with five ground balls each. Stout and Griffin both had three while Brown added two. Ryan Schmidt, Alec Porter and Conor Larkin had one each. In the forced turnovers department, Brown led the way with four while McIntosh had two. Contributing one each were Stout, Griffin, Schmidt, Ott, Bracken, Owen Debuque and Conor Larkin.
With the win, Central Bucks East (11-4, 9-2 SOL) clinched a share of the SOL Continental Conference crown. A win on Tuesday night at Souderton will give the Patriots sole possession of the title. Central Bucks West (12-4, 7-3) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 11, NORTH PENN 10
The visiting Hatters - through a tenacious team effort - knocked the Knights out of first place in the conference standings.
"It was huge," Hatters' coach John Kurek said of the win. "This season has been full of ups and downs. Some games we're in, and some games it shows our youth.
"Over the last week or so, they've really been turning a corner and coming around. It was huge for us to see a first place team, go to their place and pull out a victory like they did. I'm proud of them."
Pierre Armstrong (four goals, two assists) and Logan Eldridge (one assist, four goals) led the way offensively.
"North Penn kept changing their defense around, and Pierre was being a good leader out there, changing the offense to a zone offense or a man offense," Kurek said. "He did well breaking it down. Pierre and Logan have been our guys all year, and they really stepped up in a big game when we needed it."
Brian Hood controlled the face-off. Ian Reilly added a pair of goals.
North Penn opened a 3-1 lead after one quarter, but the Hatters erased that with a 6-1 second quarter to go into halftime with a 7-4 lead. The second half was tightly contested.
"After the first quarter, our team did a pretty good job of putting an offense together," Kurek said. "The second half was just a goal exchange back and forth.
"At one point it was 9-9, and we took a lead at 11-10. They had a couple of oppoertunities at the end, but the kids stepped up. They made good stops."
Hatter goalie Danny Jamison was credited with nine saves.
